About this mod

Do you find it strange that you can open a book and automatically know how to cast a spell? This mod overhauls how magic is learned within the world of Skyrim. Instead of opening a book once and automatically knowing a spell you must now bring the spell tome to a qualified mage and have them teach you how the spell works.

BLURB
Did it always bother you how as the Dragonborn you can just find or purchase a random spell tome, read it once and automatically know the ins and outs of a spell without any prior instruction? If so this is the mod for you!

OVERVIEW
This mod completely overhauls how spell tomes are treated within the world of Skyrim by turning them into actual books that will not disappear from your inventory when they are read. Instead you must bring the tome in question to a qualified mage within the world and have them teach you what the spell is all about and how to cast it. However there are pre-requisites that need to be fulfilled in order to learn any given spell:

1- Instructor Skill Level: This is very important as not just any mage found within the world has the ability to teach spells. A mage of Adept aptitude cannot teach spells of Expert or Master levels as those spells exceed his own progress level.

2- Instructor Proficiency: Another important characteristic for an instructor; if the mage that is teaching the player a spell is an Alteration mage then he won't be able to teach Conjuration, Destruction, Illusion, or Restoration magic as those schools aren't ones that he/she mastered.

3- Dragonborn Proficiency: The player must also be proficient in the school of magic to learn a spell from that school. As an example the player must have the Destruction Adept Perk to be allowed to learn Destruction Adept Spells; without that perk the option for those spells won't appear on the menu.

4- Instructor Payment: The player must pay the instructor to teach the spell in question, the more advanced a spell is the more Gold you would need to pay to gain the instruction necessary to cast the spell; the price can range from 20 Gold all the way to a little over 1000 Gold per spell.

5- The Spell Tome: This should go without saying but...BRING THE TOME TO THE INSTRUCTOR. If you want to learn a spell you should bring the book detailing how to cast the spell with you otherwise its like going to class without your textbook... you won't learn much.

INSTALL, UNINSTALL
To INSTALL the mod:
1- Download Erudite
2- Activate Erudite
3- Launch Skyrim

Because this mod edits base elements from the game it is highly recommended that when first installing this mod to install it on a NEW save game.

To UNINSTALL the mod:
1- Save the game
2- Delete the ESP and BSA

Skyrim doesn't natively support mod uninstallation and because this mod will be implementing features which will change how core elements interact within the BASE game I do not recommend uninstalling this mod mid-playthrough as it WILL bug magic elements in your save file rendering it unusable.

RECOMMENDATIONS

Aetherial Veins - Magic Gameplay Enhancement by Mercy: This mod aims to overhaul magic gameplay while still keeping the vanilla feel of the game.

FAQ
Q: Is this mod compatible with mods that add spells to Skyrim such as Apocalypse/Midas Magic?
A: At the moment there are no mod compatibilities. Spell tomes created by other mods will function as is in the vanilla game; therefore there are no mod incompatibilities for spell mods, however new spells won't show up in the learning system added by this mod.

Q: Will this mod be coming to Xbox One?
A: I would like to bring this mod to consoles, however there is something wrong with my CK that keeps spitting out an error when building the BSA for Xbox specifically. Until I figure out what is wrong I can't port the mod to the console... I ALSO DON'T GIVE PERMISSION FOR SOMEONE ELSE TO PORT THE MOD IN THE MEANTIME.

Q: Where are all the questions for the FAQ?
A: I honestly think that everything is detailed pretty clearly and doesn't need extra explaining...find instructor and he/she teaches you magic. If you have a question and if I deem it important I'll add it to the FAQ at a later date.
