Hey all, this is liable to be the last update for the main game, since I literally went thru all of the potions in the game using the QA smoke containers, and spawning in Dawnguard potions. As with all other versions of this patch, it's safe to swap versions mid-playthrough.
To address the white elephant in the room: yes, this patch needs the free version of Skyrim AE installed; SE users should stick with 1.5.1 until they upgrade. For 1.6.0+ "Survival Mode" and "Saints and Seducers" are now required (they are free if you have SE which was free if you had Skyrim + all DLC, so... why not?). Note: Survival Mode does not need to be activated, just installed. It can sit idly in the load order and will not impact your game if you RND, iNeed, or Last Seed. Saints and Seducers (so far) seems to be interesting/fun so may as well have it added. That said, I haven't completed it yet (I like to run around finishing quests bit-by-bit, not all in one go).
Also, yes, I have caved after visiting Castle Volkihar again, and after seeing the vanilla blood potions on the table... I have finally decided to finally fix up Potions of Blood. I think they look quite good, myself (see the pictures above)!
I have also added in a mini consistency patch for the original Potions.esp (integrated in the main patch). Two potions were either using the wrong liquid or wrong bottle. I also fixed one of my potions referencing the wrong stem texture. See the Description/changelog for more information.
Edit: As I'm playing a few mods that add potions, when I get around to making new potions for them and updating, I will post them here. If you know of a good mod for me to (eventually) try which also has potions, feel free to drop a comment! I might end up playing and patching it next!
V1.4 added, and with it, "Empty" skooma bottles! Due to some limitations from Lucifonxx's meshes, the bottle still has a 'liquid' aspect. As a way to combat this, I've added the (optional) Skooma Patch which recolors skooma to a purple liquid, leaving the less-visible white color for the 'empty' bottle.
After perusing the lore, Skooma is never really given a color, though skooma bottles tend to be purple or white. I am taking a bit of liberty here and making it a white bottle with a purple liquid. Skooma itself is made from moon sugar and nightshade, and while it's not the petals that are added, some of the color may still be leeched. I simply prefer to think all potions bottles in the base Skyrim are clear and have the liquid color showing, hence purple skooma, red health potions, etc.
Load order: Potions Patch.esp Skooma Patch.esp
Optionally (and highly recommended), save yourself multiple .esp slots, and create a bashed patch via Wrye Bash.
Technically I did not, but... It's a Nexus glitch. I put the req on an optional file. However, apparently Nexus takes all "required" files and adds them to the pop-up notification, even if what you are downloading does not require it.
Great mod but since the main potion esp has been compacted to ESL, all the patches need to also be updated (mainly textures id missing since their id has been modified in the master plugin). Any hope for an update? Thank you
Wait... YOU converted the main potion esp to esl? Just redownload the mod, load it and all dependent files in xEdit, then use the ESPFE Follower - Eslify facegen and voices to convert to esl. All dependent files will be update automatically.
As aragonit seems to have answered this in part already... All I will say is that the Potions.esp on this site has not been updated since 2016, well before the espfe craze, and it's still just a regular esp. If you have an espfe version, it's a 'port', so you are free to 'self-port' this this patch for personal use as well.
@aragonit--If you espfe-ify the mod in regular old SSEEdit (4.0.4+) with the mod's patches loaded alongside it, xEdit will auto-update the references in the patches when it compacts the form--the mod you referenced is not needed. It may? be different for followers (I've not used/tested on a follower mod), but neither of these are follower mods. As for redownloading, doing what you suggest may cause issues if the forums are compacted differently and he has patches that reference his already espfe-ified Potions.esp.
In this case, the onus is on him for modifying the base file and wanting to add additional 'vanilla' mods.
In fact I had the ENB patch from https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/60236 and did not realize it included an espfe replacer for the plugin... I will port the patch for my use. Thanks
Technically you only need the two 'DLC' downloaded, which I believe they are free if you have SE. You don't need to upgrade the game engine to AE to use the patch, just have the two free CC mods.
If even that can ruin your game (one inactive mod, one with seeminly minor overworld impact + 1 dungeon... how?)... Get back to me (I modded/worked the upload on this site enough for a bit; game time), or you can always strip the dependencies with xEdit? It's literally 2 records. MGEF on the blood potion and the venom record.
??? Survival Mode isn't free, and Saints and Seduces is completely missing from CC (I checked). I have SE, but I never updated nor used the downgrade patcher, if that helps.
It is free, and there are multiple legitimate ways to get them for free if you own SE. Personally, I'd just backup your base Skyrim esm's, download AE, then replace the esm's--one of several possibilities off the top of my head. This is the only request to date, and as getting them will not ruin your game as stated earlier, I will not be patching it.
Hey all, apologies for the double upload. 1.5.1 is the current version and fixes all issues with the prior upload. Those few who have downloaded early, please check if you have the .esl-ified version. It should not affect your game if you swap mid-playthrough. This update has the Redwater skooma v2, balmora blue, and the falmer blood elixer (not the overworld statics tho--ask a graphic artist for that, then send me the link).
Load order/etc. is the same. As an esl, no need to worry about the bashed patch. It's a free patch now.
Do I change effects? No. Your potion editing mod is likely incompatible, since either my mod's textures will override your mod's effects, or your effects will override my textures. That said, it's an easy fix in xEdit, and it's possible? both changes will be forwarded if using a bashed patch.

All patched mods are in the "Miscellaneous" section:
Remiel-Custom Voiced Dwemer Specialist and Companion: Potions Patch - Remiel Dwemchanic
Smouldering Thirst - Simple Vampire Sun Damage: Potions Patch - Smouldering Thirst

Long story short: Yes, and always.
