PSA: PLEASE, like ALL custom follower mods, do NOT use a follower framework mod like Amazing Follower Tweaks (AFT)  on Artigun. IT WILL BREAK HIM!!

Quick note: Artigun's mod has been sort of stopped for awhile. Life stuff's been getting in the way, and I've hit a brick wall during development. I've simply been unable to figure out Creation Kit properly. Plus my Skyrim game's been fidgety so I can't properly playtest the mod either. Doesn't mean I've stopped trying to continue mod progress, It's just been a slog to figure out the more "intricate" parts. With my current job, I've only had around a couple hours per week to try and do more modding, and it's simply not enough time to figure out core issues fast enough. So now I'm sorta stuck in "Modder's Block", if that's even a thing... So it mostly just comes down to trying to figure out niche papyrus codes for specific things. And I'm not coding smart.
So... Not totally dead, but until I figure out this mess of a code, I cant really progress the mod either. I need some smart people to help me figure this stuff out. I'm still gonna try and find a team to help develop this mod further if possible.

Artigun, the Dovah Follower!

AllMakersBlade made a backport LE version - NOTE: I cant be certain this version will work for LE as I'm not making LE mods, so please don't ask me to fix the LE version if it doesn't work.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND USING AllMakersBlade's LE BACKPORT AT THE MOMENT: It's HEAVILLY outdated, and the backporter has ran into some issues and as of now, can no longer support this LE backport.
Seems they're back to updating the backport again, so it's probably safer to use.

Artigun is a custom voiced follower who has a unique appearance and a somewhat unique story to him.
He may look like a typical Argonian, but don't be fooled. He's a resurrected Dovah within the body of a mortal. A unique set of horns and a tail to better match his asthetic. You can get some interesting insight on how a calm and collected Dovah sees the world. He's a heavily armored martial type fighter than best uses 2-handed weaponry.

Of course, as a Dovah, he does speak some lines in the Dovahzuul language. I've been using thuum.org to try to roughly translate most of the lines but there might be a language error here and there... Hopefully not too many, for a fantasy language and all that.

Artigun isn't like your average Dovah. He's not entirely the conquering type. Infact, he sees the world VERY differently from how a modern Dovah would go at it. Artigun's not the conquering type, as he's got more interest in the treasures of the world. And seeing a Dovahkiin roaming the world, well... You'd better believe it'd catch his intrigue, albeit a cautious one.

Artigun currently has his own unique quest added to him, which over time and additions will allow you to improve the follower with unique powers and upgrades as you quest with him. Don't expect these quests to be available out of the box though. Before he offers you some quests, you'll have to spend some time adventuring with him first.

I wanted to take a crack at a custom follower for awhile now, and spending all my free time dedicating it to this project has been a HUGE undertaking, but so worth it. I managed to create something grand, and hope the mod continues to grow over time~
I've tried to keep Artigun as lore friendly as possible, but the fact he's a dovah anyways might be bending a few rules...

Recruitment
To recruit Artigun, you'll have to first follow the Main Quest of Skyrim until becoming the Thane of Whiterun. After that you should get a Courrier note asking you to meet a Stranger atop the Whiterun Guard Tower, where you've slain your first dragon. The rest is pretty easy to figure out. The reason why I've set things up this way is because Artigun was designed for a Dovahkiin Player in mind. His skillset and personal quest is supposed to compliment that playstyle.

ARTIFACTS:

Artigun is a bit of a hoarder of interesting baubles in his past lifetime, so he has insight on a bunch of interesting relics, potentially unknown to the residents of Tamriel. He has a lot of knowledge when it comes to artifacts of heroic value. Upon reaching certain points of the game AND beating Artigun's first personal quest "A Burning Problem", Artigun can offer "Artifact Hunt" quests, which offer unique pieces of gear and relics the player can find. Some of these won't have quest markers (which is intentional), so it'll be up to the player to interpret how to find these relics.

Artifact Hunts - If you've completed certain quest/questlines, Artigun can offer insight on where to obtain unique Artifacts...
Artifact Replicas - If you have one of the artifacts added in this mod in your inventory, you can craft an unenchanted "replica" version of it. (You must meet the smithing perk prerequisite AND have the artifact in your inventory.) The reason why the crafting recipies only show up when the original artifact is in your inventory is to reduce menu clutter. Don't worry, the "Replicas" don't use the original artifact as a crafting component.

Installation
-RECOMMENDED: Download with your mod manager. I recommend a mod manager every time.
-Or, if you download manually and hate yourself, extract the files and drop it in your data folder.

As of Version 1.0.0, Artigun currently has around 490+ lines of custom dialogue and counting.

The mod is still new, and I got a lot of things planned, but my future plans will involve:

Trainable Shouts - Use dragon shouts and knowledge of shouts to give Artigun shouting capabilities.
Artigun's Personal Quest - Custom follower quest to find treasures, and upgrade Artigun's abilities.
Commentary - Passive AND Active Commentary on the main questlines of Skyrim and it's DLC, as well as Sidequests.
A custom home for Artigun - with a few spaces for the Player to decorate if they so choose, and the house updates depending on Artigun's current quest.
Unique Shouts/Abilities - to be given with his own quests to reclaim parts of his former glory

Dragonrend doesn't do anything to Artigun... Yet.

FAQ:

Is he marrigeable? - I have no plans in the work to make him a spouse yet... And I dunno if I really will. Dovah in cannon aren't exactly lovers, and I personally dunno how to properly write romance anyways.

Are you gonna add (Insert "Adult" mod) support? - Ripping the bandaid off here, NO. Please do NOT ask me this question. This is NOT an "adult" mod.

I don't like his voice. - *shrug* I don't know what to tell you...

Can I create a Patch/Change/Replacer and upload it to the nexus to share? - Go ahead. All I ask is if you wanna change/fix the mod to your liking, I just want credit for Artigun's Creation. You don't have to ask me permission to make your own patches/replacers, however letting me know can allow me to provide links to them from this mod's page.

Should I use (Insert Follower Framework Mod) on him? - Don't. Artigun has his own follower framework, and any follower management mods (Like AFT, NFF, UFO) can break him. It's pretty standard practice to not use Follower Framework mods on Custom Voiced Followers anyways.

Can I backport him to LE? - As long as I'm credited, go ahead. But I'm not going to be held responsible if the LE version backports don't work. I don't play LE or have any interest modding for it.

How do I recruit him? He's in the Bannered Mare but wont talk to me. - He will only become available to recruit once you've progressed the main questline far enough to become the Thane of Whiterun.

Then a courier will deliver you a note which will start a quest "A Strange Note" to meet him atop the Whiterun guard tower.


He's not at the tower after I get the note, but I can recruit him? - That's a limit of the Creation Kit. He needs a minute or two to run to the tower after getting the note. Hopefully this'll be addressed soon... Fixed this issue in the most recent update. Artigun will now "Spawn" at the tower.
