Briefly tested, so far it seems to work on 1.6.1170 and heavily modded, for those who might be confused about the version requirements in the description like i was...
Thank you very much for the instructions, the first option helped me, although I only did it halfway. I was trying to edit Deeja's black head in the NOVLUS build. BeastHHBB - Khajiit and Argonian content was installed in this build. He's not bad, but he makes Deeja the ultimate monster, apparently she didn't give it to the author of this mod) I used Tes5Edit to remove her preset from this mod. A new problem arose, the black head of Deeja and some mods for transferring the preset did not help and the methods did not help either, but your instructions really saved me. There were at least 3 more mods in the assembly that gave such a result. I just made 3 esp patches and that’s it. I didn’t bother any further, activated them and voila. Despite the fact that I did not have to remove the BeastHHBB - Khajiit and Argonian content mod itself. Because in some incomprehensible way it affected people in general.
I'm actually quite familiar with how to use xEdit to remove NPCs from conflicting mods. It's a time consuming process that is very tedious and mind numbing. While Vortex does have a tab to assign a conflict winner, you have to assign an overall conflict and save that choice before you can go in and choose to assign individual conflict winners. And some dark face bugs are not the result of conflicting appearance mods. For example, Michelle, a custom vendor in a cheat "player home" added by the mod "Dragonborn Crafting Hall" has an inherent dark face bug due to an error by the original mod developer. And if I choose to download the option facegen file for her, due to her being apart of the "Wenches faction" mods that handle hair and facegen replacement for "Immersive Wenches" can conflict with those facegen files and force her vanilla hairstyle to override the KS style hair in the facegen file. Ultimately Face Discoloration Bug fix is the best solution that I found works best for me.
