Natural Lighting & Atmospherics for ENB
[Special Edition]
a faithful port of Confidence Man's legendary work updated with latest ENB features

WHAT IT IS
This release contains an ESP file and ENB files.

The ESP modifies all standard weathers including clear, cloudy, foggy, rain, overcast, and snowy for more natural colors and atmospheric effects.

The ENB preset was developed in tandem to take advantage of the more normalized values (no strange ambient or fog colors, for example.)
A few new weathers are added, including cloudless versions of the clear weathers as well as a generic overcast weather.

A full list of edited weathers can be found in the _weatherlist INI file in the enbseries folder or in the troubleshooting below.

It is an intensive preset, with nearly all effects enabled at varying quality to achieve the results in the screenshots.
Turning effects off for performance reasons will obviously affect the way it looks.

Using the plugin or the preset on their own is not advised.
The preset is tuned for specific conditions such as fog and different ambient values for varying times of day, using it with the vanilla weather or other mods like Obsidian Weathers will result in something probably pretty ugly, though you're welcome to tweak it to your heart's content.

ABOUT THIS PORT
This is a 1:1 port from Skyrim LE (dx9) NLA to SE/AE (dx11) faithfull to the original vision of Confidence Man.

Nothing have been changed or removed from the plugin besides dummy/disabled VL settings that are required for SE weather templates but didn't exist in LE (excepted for fog weather since it was the only way to match the original fog visuals), and a dummy item to help ENB makers retrieve the plugin ID with the console in order to force NLA custom weathers.

Almost all the original shaders and techniques used in NLA ENB have been ported to dx11 and their settings kept intact.
The few shader modifications and custom made are only here for the purpose of matching the original visuals despite SE differences.
Night Eye has been redone entirely for something simpler and to include every other SFX of the game.

All the ENB features and weather settings that behave the same from LE to SE were left untouched, while all the others were carefully reworked to compensate the differences between the two versions of ENB, as a tedious copyist job to get a port as close as possible to the original.

Additionaly, new settings have been made for Dawn and Dusk time of day (which didn't exist in original NLA) and all the newest and up to date ENB-SE features such as ENB Light, complex grass, Wet Surfaces (...) have been implemented.

WHAT YOU NEED
  • Uninstall any weather mod, Uninstall any ENB or ReShades presets.
  • Make sure to delete enb cache before using this ENB preset.
  • Disable from the game's launcher options/Advanced: "Screen Space Ambient Occlusion".

  •  Download, Install and enable Natural Lighting and Atmospherics SE plugin.
  •  Download & Install ENB Helper SE ( requires SKSE64 ).
  •  Download latest ENB binaries from enbdev.com (recommended are v0.477) and extract ONLY: "d3d11.dll" and "d3dcompiler_46e.dll" to the game roots folder, next to the game's .exe.
  •  Download and extract the content from NLA_SE-ENB preset folder to the root folder of the game, next to the game's exe and ENB dlls.

I's also highly recommended to use Particle Patch for ENB if you want everything to look right, as well as ENB Light and Smoother Skies.

Launch the game ONLY from the SKSE64 launcher, else ENB weather's configurations won't be working.

Simply delete the same files to uninstall the preset. (enblocal & enbseries inis as well as the enbseries folder, delete d3d11.dll & d3dcompiler_46e.dll as well if you are not going to use another ENB preset. Remove the plugin like you usually remove one of your mod.)

OPTIONS
Use "END" key to open the ENB UI
Use "Del" key to toggle the Depth of Field
Use "Scroll Lock" to toggle the enb
Use "-" (numpad) to show the FPS

There is sharpening, grain and letterbox options available in the EnbEffectPostPass.fx window.
If you want more control to tweak it to your tastes you can also download and install the
PRT: PhotoRealistic Tamriel Compatibility Patch for All ENB available in the PRT optional files.

TROUBLESHOOTING
Q: Can I safely install or uninstall this mid-game ?
A: Yes you can.

Q: I'm trying to adjust values through the ENB UI, but it's not doing anything.

A: This enb uses weather-specific config files, so editing the general enbseries.ini won't have any effect unless IgnoreWeatherSystem is enabled for a specific category.
To edit these config files you have to open the secondary weather window in the UI (the shader window is open by default) and adjust the active weather ini.

Q: How do I make nights/interiors brighter?
A: Open the ENB/ENBEFFECT.FX window and lower the "CC: Gamma Night" or "CC: Gamma Interior" setting then Save Configuration

Q: Why is the image grainy and how do I get rid of it ?
A: In the UI open the ENBEFFECTPOSTPASS.FX window and uncheck NoiseEnable. Then open the ENBDEPTHOFFIELD.fx window and turn the Grain Scale value to 0. The grain is used primarily to eliminate banding especially in the sky and in low contrast conditions (such as nighttime in the rain).

Q: Why is the image blurry ?
A: This is the Depth of Field, you can toggle it on/off using "Del" key, or modify it from the ENBDEPTHOFFIELD.fx window of the ENB UI.

Q: There is color outlines around some trees.
A: This is the Chromatic Aberration from the Depth of Field, you can disable or lower it from the ENBDEPTHOFFIELD.fx window of the ENB UI.

Q: I'm a preset maker and I'd like to make an ENB for NLA plugin but I don't know the new weathers ?
A: From console ingame, enter:" help NLA "to retrieve the load order ID (the two first digit values) of the plugin from an armor item called "NLA".
You can then use it to force a custom weather to spawn. (fw NLAID057500 loads Overcast weather).

Here are all the custom made NLA weathers with their code:

In this image the two first digit (02) are the numbers to swap with your NLA ID

WHAT I USE
ENVIRONMENTAL MODS:
EVLAS is not recommended as Confidence Man came up with its own solution within the ENB,
it will only break the lighting for early time of days, sunsets and nights.

- ENB Light (don't go too crazy with this kind of mods they can kill your fps really quick, but use at least the main mod)
- Smoother Skies
- Particle Patch for ENB
- Water for ENB (shades of Skyrim)
- Morning fog (Thick, set hour from 5am to 10am)
- Volumetric Mists (subtle or balanced)
- Obsidian mountains and Fogs

- Storm Lightning for SSE and VR (Level 0, realism preset)

INTERIOR LIGHTING MODS:
NLA ENB is compatible with every interior lighting mods, but here's my favourites.
- Lux (default templates, don't touch anything during install except for the compatibility with your mod list)
OR ELFX (Enhanced or hardcore, ELFX Shadows can be used as well)

I don't know much about other interior lighting mods, but they should work fine, just know NLA ENB preset will darken them.

If interiors are too dark: Open the ENB/ENBEFFECT.FX window and lower the "CC: Gamma Interior" setting, I use 1.0 with LUX.

GRASS MODS:
Whatever grass you use, it needs to be complex grass mod compatible (see complex grass mod compendium if any doubt)

TREE MODS:
I personally use a mix of Nature of the Wild Lands and Happy Little trees
I also love to use Traverse the Ulvenwald - 3.0 - Forests of Skyrim.

LANDSCAPE TEXTURES:
Whatever texture pack you use for landscapes, it needs to be parallax compatible.
If not then open enbseries.ini with notepad or similar and disable parallax.
It can't be done ingame.
(I use Skyrim 2020 Parallax)

THANKS
Thanks to Confidence Man for making this amazing and timeless weather and ENB.
Thanks to Boris for his work on ENBSeries, it's only because of him Skyrim can look like this.
Matso for his DOF and other effects.

All the modders for the models, textures, and other enhancements that allow Skyrim to look the best it can.

Feel free to use the plugin or preset for your own ENB, we would only ask to be credited.

Enjoy !
