PSA: I am no longer actively modding. I unfortunately don't have the time anymore to invest the amount of work I like to put into creating mods. Permission is granted to do whatever you'd like with my mods (port it, edit it, whatever) - just please take into consideration the permissions of the modders resources that I have used and give credit. Happy modding! <3
This works with KS hairdos 1.4, but then breaks all my other mods that rely on a newer version of that mod (purple no texture hair). The author has given permission to someone else pick up and maintain this mode more than 5 years ago and still nothing, I think it's time to give up and let it die.
Don't bother with this mod unless it's the only one that effects facegen, or you're willing to manually fix all the npc's that get brown face. I uninstalled the mod which fixed the faces, obviously, but now all the npc's that had brown face are now naked. It's not worth it. Hopefully an alternative to this mod will be released.
Hey folks! maybe this is interesting for some users. I also encountered black faces when using following setup: Distinct people - Immersive KS Hairdos Version 1.21 Immersive KS Hairdos 2.1 KS Hairdos 1.5 Salt and Wind - KS Hairdos Retexture Distinct people plguin declared late loader by vortex
By simply replacing the Immersive KS Hairdos 2.1 (renamed to vanilla) version with version 2.0 I got rid of all black faces regarding NPCs touched by this mod!
Checking the mod conflicts, this has issues with facegen. So if it's the ONLY mod you have that messes with facegen data, you should be okay and if rusty face shows up, low on the load order seems to fix it for "some" people.
But so few people (myself included) use only one face or skin retexture. I spotted a distinct conflict with the following: Mesh: 000135ec.nif (from Bijin NPC's) Texture: 000135sec.dds (from Bijin NPC's) Mesh: 0001406b.nif (from Bijin Wives) Texture: 0001406b.dds (from Bijin Wives)
So while it says it's compatible, it's not. Some of the male characters are calling up stuff from Bijin or other mods you may have, from some hair replacers, circlets, headgear, etc. which causes the rusty face bug on a handful of NPC's (mostly male).
It's a LOT of work to try to fix, as you have to find which exact NPC's are affected, and not everyone's modded game has the same conflicts. So unless you wanna fix it manually yourself after you install all your textures, weapons, armors, etc. this mod itself is rather broken.
Sad to say, cause I love it, but spending hours to tweak about 5 NPC's and hope they look good is not worth the effort.
I tried changing load order, I tried creating a merged .esp in TESEdit, I made sure I was using the correct version of the hair mod, I even tried facegen regeneration in construction kit. And yet the dark face bug still persisted. I completely uninstalled the mod now and will just have to wait for someone else to make a new mod.
PS, if you're still having the dark faces even after turning off the mod, you have to delete everything it adds to your data folder

Immersive KS Hairdo's version still gives ''missing master'' error even though it is not missing and loaded correctly.Fixed by altering modlist.txt file.
In fact, it doesn't ask for a missing master anymore even without KS Hairdo's version. Weird.
