About this mod

Edits Dawn of Skyrim so that it makes more sense in the Skyrim World.

I am a huge fan of Dawn of Skyrim as it is one of the more lightweight City overhaul mods that add some clutter etc. without going overboard. It is also perfectly compatible with Cities of the North / The Great Cities with a few patches.

However I had a few pet peeves, which annoyed me so much that I picked up the Creation Kit and made some changes. I did not touch navmeshes, merely carefully removed a select few objects, and wherever it was too obvious I rearranged the nearest objects a tiny bit. (again no effect on quests, navmesh whatnot, purely visual) My mod does not break precombines! ...sike! It's not Fallout 4. (Thank God)

As of the newest version the mod is also a plugin replacer. I forwarded Navmesh and bug fixes from other Dawn of Skyrim bugfix mods with open permissions wherever it made sense.

Before we begin however:

PSA: These changes are absolutely to my own personal taste. I do not wish to criticise the original author's vision and I do not mean to imply that there is anything wrong with the original mod. It is purely subjective and my own preference.

I changed the following:

Markarth

- Removed the Dwarven Centurion statue, it is a bit odd looking and I am just not fond of statues tbf, especially if they are not meant to be statues. Meeting your first Centurion should be a "OMFG" moment, not some hunk of junk seen by every peasant in Markarth..
- Removed the Glowing Mushrooms, they do look nice but they are supposed to grow deep underground.
- Removed the Dibella Statue in front of the trading house, it served no purpose or relation to the place.
- Removed the glowing Dibella Statue in front of the Temple of Dibella, it doesn't add much to the scenery.

Riften

- Removed the Mara statue from the temple garden, we get it: it's the Temple of Mara, no need to add a statue.

Whiterun

- Removed ALL the reach and pine trees. I prefer Whiterun to remain the centre of a tundra, I really don't think trees add anything to the looks of an already very distinct (albeit boring) city.
- Removed Ygsamor's statue, it just doesn't make sense to be there. There are just too many statues all over the place. Ygsamor's statue was a simple unique asset in Ygsamor's Tomb meant to hold the Wuuthrad, that's it!

Windhelm

- Removed all the Scathecraw. According to lore... well there is not much lore about Scathecraw, but I am fairly sure it needs Ash and a humid/volcanic environment to grow which Windhelm is not. It just looked out of place and overused.
- Removed the netch calf next to the New Gnisis Corner Club, I mean it is a living/breathing animal not a piece of decoration. It just looked weird stuck in one place.
- Removed the Sovngarde statues in front of the Palace of Kings and the cemetery. I am a HUGE proponent of keeping Sovngarde statues in Sovngarde!
- Removed yet another Ygsamor statue from the main gate.

Solitude

- Removed the trees and the circular sitting thingies in the Blue Palace courtyard. I just wasn't a fan.
- Removed the statues from the Bard's College, they were just too goofy looking for my taste.

Additional things to note:

- I compared and forwarded Navmesh and bug fixes from the following mods, wherever it made sense:
- Rob's Bug Fixes - Dawn of Skyrim by robertgk2017
- Dawn of Skyrim - Unofficial Patch by nicola89b
- Let my mod replace the original Dawn of Skyrim .esp plugin.

- Your Dawn of Skyrim patches will most likely work, if not let me know.
- Tested and compatible with Holidays (using Dawn of Skyrim - Holidays Updated Patch by Janquel)

- Not compatible with JK's Skyrim + Dawn of Skyrim patches, JK's Skyrim adds way too much clutter in the same vein as what I removed in Dawn of Skyrim so using it would defeat the aim of this mod.
- In addition I forwarded a few Navmesh fixes and bugfixes to the plugin.
