This is fantastic!  I love Sofia, but I HATE that she was always bumping me, and pushing me off ledges.  To install, I clicked the far left icon in MO2 (DVD icon?) then chose the 7zip file, and it auto installed it at the end of my FUS list.  WORKS GREAT!   Many many thanks, today you are my internet skyrimVR hero.

    Literally my hero.

Love Sofia - except she keeps trying to crawl up my ass - Which means pushimg me off a cliff, into a trap .... etc... etc...

This finally makes her usable as a follower.  CK kept messing up the esp on save if I try to do it that way, and could not identify the values in SSEEdit, your mod helped me identify what values to change since they're not exactly labeled in any way that would identify them as follower distance.

    I did increase the values you set a bit (512-Min / 768-Max).

your mod helped me identify what values to change

I think this is the perfect way to use this mod for people who know what they're doing in SSEEdit. I especially like how you tweaked it to your own preference too

I'm assuming you made (512-Min / 768-Max) for both packages, correct? I think I'll add this version to the patch hub anyway.

This mod is a great idea!
But when I discovered it, I was (and am) in the middle of a hopefully long playthrough. I have Sofia as one of my followers. Installing the Back Off mod correlated with my game crashing during start-up, so I removed the Back Off mod and went back to a prior save. I assume that this problem wasn't the mod's fault, but some unfortunate interaction with my large mod list, or simply because I was already mid-game with Sofia when I tried it.

Does anyone have advice/experience about getting it to work mid-game?
Would it likely make a big difference if I temporarily dismissed Sofia first? (Can she handle being dismissed? I don't actually know. Last playthrough, when I tried dismissing Caesia (another old deluxe follower mod), she threw an in-character fit and then had technical problems.)

Indeed!  I can't count how many times Sofia has knocked me of a cliff to my death.

Exactly, gamerpk2, I stopped using her as anything but a pack mule I could load up and send home. I like her, but the constant messing up of my sneaky-sneaky times was a real PITA. Giving this mod a go...

Dude this would piss me off so much, especially cuz it tends to cause problems if you use general follower framework mods with Sofia, so tysm for this.

It's one of the main images from the original mod (but zoomed in because she stands too close)

I think it should be fine as it's a really tiny change. I tested on a save I had but only for long enough to tweak the distance.

It's always a good idea to make a save you can roll back to though

Rule of thumb, if a mod has an ESP, DO NOT add it Mid Playthrough, because doing that, offests the first two digits of all of the ESPs that come AFTER the newly installed ESP, which leads to scripts being orphaned etc.
Because say in your old load order, a mod with a bunch of scripts was in position 2C, so all the scripts in that mod start with 2c.
Now you add an ESP mid playthough and it happens to load at 2C, which moves all of your other ESPs DOWN one place.
So now the scripts in your save game that started with 2C are orphaned and will eventually cause your save to corrupt and your game to crash because NOW, the ESP that used to use those scripts at 2C, is now 2D, so now you have a bunch of orphaned scripts at 2C, and IF the mod that moved from 2C to 2D can start it's scripts again, now you will have new scripts at 2D also cluttering up your save.

Thank you. That’s the best explanation I’ve seen about the risks of ADDing Mods mid-playthrough

If you reinstall all mods below it after installing will this fix the orphaned scripts issue?  If that works it's not too much of a problem, especially if it's close to the bottom of your mod list.

Same with removal... If you want to remove it later, will it fix any orphaned scripts if you reinstall everything below it after removal?
