About this mod

Adds race-based and gender-based perks to the player and every other NPC intelligently using SPID magic to add diversity. Meant to be used as an add-on for Race overhauls or on its own.

This mod aims to serve two purposes:

  • Add more character to playing a race or gender over another (and dealing with members thereof).
  • Complement race overhauls


To this purpose, I created various perks that get applied to the player and the rest of NPCs intelligently thanks to a script that triggers on loading your save or after creating your new character, and the magic of SPID. You will get a magic effect describing the effect which you'll see in the magic menu.

These changes are loosely inspired by information and lore on each of the races and genders where applicable, plus my own imagination. They are meant to not be overly significant changes, but significant enough to promote to a certain extent a change in playstyle to take advantage of your traits, but not enough to corner you into one playstyle. These are the changes according to race and gender:

Altmer
  • Male (Magicka Hunger): Altmer males are highly skilled in the magical arts. Their Destruction, Restoration and Illusion spells are 10% more potent as long as their Magicka is over half full. When out of combat, spells cost 25% less and in combat, 10% less.
  • Female (Magicka Hunger): Altmer females are highly skilled in the magical arts. Their Destruction, Restoration and Illusion spells are 15% more potent as long as their Magicka is over half full, but they suffer a -10% potency debuff when below that threshold. When out of combat, spells cost 50% less and in combat, 15% less.


Argonian
  • Male (Reptilian Stalker): Argonian males are skilled stalkers, sneaking 10% better at all times, and their sneak attacks are 15% more deadly. Additionally, their tough scales reduce their incoming physical damage by 8%.
  • Female (Marsh Sorceress): Argonian females are generally more intelligent and skilled in the magical arts than males, getting an overall 10% spell cost reduction, and 5% more powerful spells overall. However, they don't have the same knack for stealth that males have. Additionally, their scales also reduce damage, but they aren't as tough as the male ones, so the reduction is just 4%.


Bosmer
  • Male (Wild Hunter): A male Bosmer's arrows bypass 15% of the armor of foes. However, their melee weapon damage is 5% less powerful, except with daggers.
  • Female (Wild Huntress): A female Bosmer's arrows bypass 25% of the armor of foes. However, their melee weapon damage is 10% less powerful, except with daggers.
  • Both: Bosmer sharpshooting skills are unmatched: their arrows are 10% more deadly. They are also skilled at camouflage in the outdoors, gaining a 15% sneak bonus in those situations only.


Breton
  • Male (Breton Shield): Breton men manifest their affinity to magic by transforming their magic resistance into additional physical resistance, starting at 4% damage reduction and gaining 2% physical damage reduction per 15 points of Magic Resistance, up to 12% damage reduction at 75% magic resistance.
  • Female (Magicka Affinity): Breton women manifest their affinity to magic by transforming their magic resistance into magicka absorption through Wards. Every point in Magic Resistance increases absorption of Magicka through wards by 0.75%.


Dunmer
  • Male (Fire Within): Dunmer males manifest their fire within in their fire spells. Every point of Fire Resistance increases their damage with fire Destruction spells by 0.5%, but their Fire spells cost 10% more. Additionally, their skill as spellswords translate into 5% more damage with one-handed swords.
  • Female (Fire Within): Dunmer females manifest their fire within in their fire spells. Every point of Fire Resistance increases their damage with fire Destruction spells by 0.3%. Additionally, their skill as spellswords translate into 10% more damage with one-handed swords.


Imperial
  • Male (Imperial Healer): Imperial men are talented healers and can heal with spells 15% more, with a 5% spell cost reduction. When Magicka is only a third full or less, they heal 30% more instead, with a 10% spell cost reduction.
  • Female (Imperial Healer): Imperial women are talented healers and can heal with spells 10% more, with a 15% spell cost reduction. When Magicka is only a third full or less, they heal 20% more instead, with a 30% spell cost reduction.
  • Both: Imperial players sell by 10% more and buy by 10% less.


Khajiit
  • Male (Feline Warrior): Khajiit males are talented, strong warriors, dealing 10% more damage with all melee attacks except with daggers. However, their low endurance makes them receive more physical damage (5%).
  • Female (Feline Assassin): Khajiit females are not as strong as male ones, dealing 10% less damage with two-handed weapons. However, their finesse allows them to deal 10% more damage with daggers and bows, and their dagger attacks bypass 20% of armor of foes when power attacking.
  • Both: When their Health drops too low (<= 33%), they enter a feral frenzy, doubling their unarmed damage and taking half damage when using only claws. Additionally, they are unmatched at thieving, gaining a 10% bonus to both pickpocketing and lockpicking.


Nord
  • Male (Nord Might): Nord men are hardy individuals, resisting 15% damage from power attacks and 20% stagger. The famous Nord resistance to frost reduces their incoming magic frost damage by 10%.
  • Female (Nord Might): Nord women are hardy individuals, resisting 10% damage from power attacks and 10% stagger. The famous Nord resistance to frost reduces their incoming magic frost damage by 15%.
  • Both: Additionally, their affinity to axes manifest as 10% higher damage output with any axe.


Orc
  • Male (Orcish Strength): Orc males have nigh extraordinary strength, dealing 15% more damage with power attacks. However, their power attacks cost 20% more.
  • Female (Orcish Strength): Orc females have nigh extraordinary strength, dealing 10% more damage with power attacks. However, their power attacks cost 10% more.
  • Both: Additionally, when they are wounded (<= 40% Health), their power attack damage jumps by 10% again.


Redguard
  • Male (Yokudan Prowess): Redguard men do 15% more damage with all melee weapons and consume 10% less Stamina when power attacking while their stamina is above 40%. However, when their Stamina is below that threshold, they lose the damage bonus, but their Stamina consumption also dips (30% less Stamina).
  • Female (Yokudan Prowess): Redguard women do 10% more damage with all melee weapons and consume 15% less Stamina when power attacking while their stamina is above 40%. However, when their Stamina is below that threshold, they lose the damage bonus, but their Stamina consumption also dips (45% less Stamina).


Compatibility:
Thanks to SPID, this is 100% compatible with all mods, even mods that do the same thing. There are no vanilla records modified whatsoever. That doesn't mean however that it plays well with all other mods. Use your best judgment when deciding whether to include this in your setup or not.

Note that this was tested with Alternate Start by Arthmoor. According to a report, it behaves incorrectly with Skyrim Unbound. If that's the case, use the script in the Miscellaneous files. You can also fix the issue that happens without the script. More info in the sticky.
