The original mod is still required, I've just made a new .dll with some minor changes and recompiled for the latest versions of the game. I've confirmed that it works in 1.6.1170.
Hi! Sorry if I'm overlooking something obvious, but it looks like you uploaded this mod and another similar mod right around the same time, but apart from the latter being able to anything, not just quest items, I don't see any real difference between the two. What would be the benefit of having this one?
Yep should be able to use either. Be forwarned that I haven’t updated the skse plugin from my mod dylbill’s papyrus functions yet for the latest version of Skyrim. This mod doesn’t need that part though so you can delete the DbSkseFunctions.dll and it’ll still work
Just curious. Why would you want to break your game? What quest item is so horrid that you'd want to remove it and potentially bork the rest of your game? or maybe because I'm a completionist, it doesn'tmake sense.
Any quest which I'm forced into but don't want to complete. For instance, last playthrough I didn't want to complete the main quest as I've played it so many times already, but already had an Elder Scroll in my inventory.
There are some items (with quite some weight), you don't really want to carrying them on you all the time. It's a good (and immersive) mod; although, it needs too many other mods to work, dear friend.
Normally quest items dont actually weigh anything despite what it says on the GUI, but some do. Idk how many of such items there are, but I recently played through the "Night to remember" and I couldnt get rid of junk items I collected in the Markarth temple and giants' toes. None of these items were unique and you could get more of them, but couldnt drop even a single one, so I had to deal with an artificially reduced carry weight until I finished the quest. This mod ensures I dont have to deal with smth like that again.
Super excited to try this out when I’m next back at my computer, though I do agree with andymash70 that I’d prefer if it was a simple SKSE plugin that didn’t require the extra mods. Beggars can’t be choosers though and your work is appreciated!
Sorry, I've never made an skse plugin before. This is what I could do with my current knowledge. I may make a none skse version, but that would require an esp.
A lot of mods forget to make their quest items (usually notes and Journals) stop being quest items after the quest ends. (E.G the forgotten city). So this mod is a godsend.
I hoped it would have helpd me to solve the stuck problem, I can't use them at the forge site... I read I shuold disable UESSP but game doesn't run without...
Hey there. I'm trying to put a quest item into a container, but it keeps dropping. I'm using both keys as stated. Could this conflict with Ultimate Dodge Mod? That mod uses sneak button (LCTRL) for dodging and remaps the sneak button to LShift...
Make sure Papyrus Extender is installed. The GetMenuContainer function used in this mod is from Papyrus Extender. If that doesn't work, I'm also, working on a no skse version of this mod that will be called Inventory Item Dropper that might help. I'll let you know when it's released, probably later today.
Ok I uploaded a new version that should fix the issue. I changed the script method of moving the item to containers. The old method, it first moved the item out of your inventory then into the container. Sometimes the reference would be lost when doing this. The new method moves the item directly to the open container from your inventory.

The ruby dragon claw and King Olav's verse will only drop for example.
