LIM - VF - Off Limits Trespassing Behavior Expansion
Changelogs
Version 2.2
Corrected script logic, had an incorrect piece where it would return false. Likely never to be triggered as it's a rare circumstance.
Corrected script parameters for Jorrvaskr Basement triggerboxes that would incorrectly flag you as trespassing when trying to hand the shield to Aela as she is in a meeting with Skjor.
Version 2.1
Fixed infinite loop in ActorsRelationshipsToCheck function. Thanks to kieranjohn1 for discovery/detailed bug report. A huge L to Bethesda for letting Papyrus compiler miss this coding mistake but compile successfully anyways.
Version 2.0
Changed script logic for off limit areas exceptions. Instead of checking for 1 relationship, faction, or quest progress exception, you can now check for many relationships, many factions, or many quest progress exceptions. It is unlikely the logic will get this complex, but it makes sense that this option be available for applications beyond what will be introduced in this mod.
The Windhelm war room is no longer off limits if Ulfric tells you to talk to Galmar about joining the Stormcloaks.
Version 1.2
Made Aela's room accessible for returning her shield.
Removed restriction from Wuunferth's room as he is a vendor and pretty much never leaves his room.
Version 1.1
Removed markers in inn bedrooms, because apparently vanilla inns don't give the owner the nicer rooms.
Added markers in areas that felt appropriate for great halls/castles.
Added exception conditions to the scripts.
Removed edits to Drunken Huntsman, no more need for a patch. We now set the IsPublicArea bool property for each offlimits triggerbox.
I made this mod because it never made sense that in your general good shop, you could follow me up to your bedroom and just be cool with that like this is a normal thing that customers would do. Unless... (͡ ° ͜ʖ ͡ °)
This mod affects business, great halls, and castles. If you are detected in an area that is off limits, such as personal quarters, behind the counter, or a back room - you will be asked to leave. If you don't leave quickly you will be charged with trespassing.
I'm leaving this mod with open permissions to act as a modders resource. Feel free to make patches or improvements as you see fit, just require the main file. The trespassing mechanic in Skyrim isn't documented very well and some of it is hard-coded. The way this mod works is...
When an off-limits area (trigger box)...
It will check to see if you are at an inn (checked via location keyword), it will make it a non-public space. If not an inn, it is likely already 'non-public'.
It will change the AI of 2 nearby actors, who are owners in the cell/associated with the owning faction, to sandbox a small distance from their current location. This AI package also locks the doors as you'd typically see with NPCs going to sleep at night.
If spotted, vanilla trespassing behavior will ensue.
This mod will increase the need/value of leveling your sneak and illusion skills if you want to be a successful thief.
I strongly recommend using a mod that prevents teleporting when paying fines, such as No Crime Teleport by Vermunds. Woah... turns out I also made a mod to make that mod even more awesomer - No Crime Teleport - Voice Consistency Fix. These mods will make this mod feel less obnoxious.
