If you only want to use the altered tomes, and don't need any of my custom Spell Research patches, and don't need to resolve patch conflicts (two patches for the same mod or Mysticism with its edits to vanilla spells): 1. Open Synthesis. 2. Find the "Git Repository" button (top left, looks like a square standing on one corner with a branch symbol in it.) 3. Go to "Input" tab. 4. Paste the repository's URL (https://github.com/audriuska12/SpellResearchSynthesizer) into the "Repository Path" field. 5. Select "SpellResearchSynthesizer.csproj" from the dropdown. 6. Configure settings to your tastes. Note: Learning archetypes requires the Spell Research Synthesizer .esp - if you do not have it, set all tome experience values to 0. 7. Run Synthesis. Congratulations, your tomes are now changed. If you also want my custom patches, or any of the following features: * Importing the generated patch; * Auto-filling the form lists with FLM * Gaining archetype XP from tomes Then you need to: 1. Download, install and enable the file from this download page (do this before running Synthesis, or run Synthesis again). 2. Disable the .ESP's for any patch you use that mine uses as a source (Compendium/JSON/Mysticism JSON). Only the .ESP's - the .psc/.json files are used by Synthesis to generate the merged patch. Okay, I guess that technically you can remove the patch source mods entirely once the generation is done, but that'll mean the changes get erased next time you run Synthesis. (On which topic, you'll probably need to re-import in the Spell Research MCM if you've added/removed patches.)
Note for updates: Synthesis doesn't seem to download updated versions of the configuration .JSON files automatically. Check before running whether the .json files in your Synthesis\Data\Skyrim Special Edition\SpellResearchSynthesizer match what's on Git - unless, that is, you changed them deliberately.
Just wondering: would you mind adding this mod (Spell Research Synthesizer Various Spells Pack Import JSON) to either the requirements list (as an optional), to one of the sticky posts, or maybe somewhere else on this mod page that is easy to find?
It makes good use of your patcher mechanisms and adds a TON of newer spell mods (such as Darenii's) / mods containing new spells (such as Mihail's), and is still getting updated regularly. I've been using it and it really works fantastically with yours. Thank you for considering!
(If you already know this mod / linked it somewhere on this page, forgive my blindness :/ )

How do you get the images and text font from https://github.com/Synthesis-Collective/SpellResearchAlternateTomePatcher?tab=readme-ov-file#readme No real clear instructions on how to us it.
I added the patch in Synthesis but no image or font color shows up.
Does this patcher cover the caco alchemy dissolving solution part? The spell research patch redux caco patch doesn't really make potion crafted by elixir to act like caco potion like heal over 5 seconds for health potion and damage over 5 seconds for poison, and dissolving caco modified ingredient result in abundance of highest(sila) rank solution and little to no other rank solution, making selling solution and crafting powerful elixir a breeze
Probably going to be the same problem as the one with opening the inventory - somehow, a tome has a null entry in the Teaches Spell field. Can't fix that until someone figures out what causes it, because I've had exactly no luck reproducing it myself.
No worries ill just start a new game :). Also would you be so kind in telling me exactly where i put the spell research experience book files to change the images in the tomes, i read your other replies when someone asked the same thing but im still confused.
Data/textures/interface/exported/widgets/spellresearchbook/textures/(file).dds is the default path - you can check it by looking at the book's text in SSEEdit.
The patcher can't do it since I can't get into the .bsa file. You need to extract the textures and put them in the game directory - ideally in an otherwise empty mod in MO2.
Seems to only happen to me when the experimental fix is ticked on in the Settings ......
Edit: Dragging and dropping the "spell" record onto the "NULL" error in xEdit seems to have fixed the CTDs on my end. Keep in mind that I use immersive spell learning DESTI alongside spell research and this patcher.
Side note: I left the experimental fix ticked on, on both tests

Edit: Oh it's a vanilla spell. And using SSEEdit I found no mods of mine have made changes to that tome (000F4997) so am confused 😵
I was having this issue as well. Here are two steps I took to get it to run properly:
1. I made sure to have MO2 install the Spell Research Synthesizer.esp in my load order 2. In Synthesis, I made sure to add the SpellResearchSynthesizer Patcher to the Synthesis.esp patch (not its own patch or "Synthesis 2" or anything else)
Once I ran it again, it was able to work and patch successfully.
I don't get the Installation instructions at all, like what the hell does "Open Synthesis" mean ? open what ? There no executables within the files and no MCM
Behold: Requirements. Behold: Off-Site requirements. Behold: Link to Synthesis GitHub repository. Behold: the readme. Behold: the installation section. Only detail not noted in documentation there is that if you're using MO2, you need to run Synthesis through MO2 as well.
Look man this is my first Synthesis framework mod install, I didn't need hand holding, just a "hey btw u need Synthesis " in the description page would have been more than enough. I only accidently got this mod to work by opening SpellResearchSynthesizer.synth with Chromium which sent me "This file is to be used with the Synthesis UI" so everything clicked in my head.
>Behold: Link to Synthesis GitHub repository. >So here I present to you my solution: Spell Research Synthesizer!" I assumed this masked link was for this very mod page (many do this) so I didn't click it.

i truly believe this is how what he said was meant to be read, and i hope my explanation can clear up the confusion audriuska caused.
Hi, im quite new to skyrim and to the games modding. Not sure if this has been asked before but will this work with SE? I noticed it said AE but wanted to check.
Is there any chance of getting a video tutorial on how to get this working? I've been trying to get it to work with all the Spell research submods like the convenience addon, experience book, and composition mods, etc. but the synthesis is incredibly temperamental, most of the time only spitting out a JSON rather than an ESP. I gotta assume I'm doing something wrong somehow.
I... vaguely think I might have fixed the actual synthesis issue, though now, it seems like having your actual SpellResearchSynthesizer.esp enabled (in the hope of getting the altered Tome XP) crashes the game on launch. Weird conflict with the base Spell Research mod 2.2.3.
Take all this with a grain of salt though, because I am trying to tack it on top of Nolvus.
