If you have weapon speed being slowed down instead of sped up it's because you need weapon speed mult fix. Skyrim doesn't stack weapon speed mult properly so if you used elemental fury or dual flurry with this mod your weapon speed would bug out and be super speed. The fix makes it so weapon speed stacks properly but to make it work the multiplier for the weapon speed needs to be .2 instead of 1.2. without the speed mult fix your weapon speed will be 20% of normal instead of 20% faster.
I've also noticed that the spell magnitude bonus from resting increases the effects of the food and drink bonuses by 20%. I think I'm fine with this as it doesn't increase them much and it seems like a nice little bonus for keeping up with all of your needs properly.
Version 1.3 there are now two versions with different effect durations. The shorter one is 15 minute food effects and 10 minute drink effects, and the longer version is 30 minute food effects and 20 minute drink effects. I also removed the restriction on werewolves getting the rested bonuses so that becoming a werewolf doesn't give you a disadvantage outside of beast form. This is compatible with any werewolf mod as the only record affected to make that change is the playersleepquest. Also while doing the longer version I found a final missing effect record on raw boar meat and a missing duration on one of the protein effects for clam chowder so those are fixed.
Version 1.2: Fixed issue where the magic effects to increase magicka and magicka regen on carbohydrates was tagged with no magnitude so you didn't receive the intended effects. Carbs now correctly give you the 15 extra magicka and 25 magicka regen.
version 1.1: fixed CTDs when opening a container that had raw meat/flour sacks in it due to blank effect records I couldn't remove. Gave them an effect that damages health 5 points since they are things that are bad to eat raw. No more CTDs now.
I really enjoy the idea behind this mod, but even before downloading it I have one concern: what stops me from just scarfing down a whole banquet before each dungeon/fight (or in the middle of it)? It seems like rather than rewarding good habits, as I imagine is your intention, this mainly just adds extra clicks to the pre-buff/re-buff part of the gameplay loop. You've probably considered this and decided that's how you want your mod to function anyway, and the only solution I can think of may be too complex or ambitious to be worth developing, but:
Would it be possible to make these buffs scale up over time? Eating one apple once won't provide me with a meaningful, lasting amount of vitamins, and downing an entire cheese wheel isn't going to do anything except make me hold my tummy and groan. But if I eat two apples a day for a week, on the seventh day I might have +3 Stamina and Magicka, +5% disease resistance, and +5% health regeneration. If I can keep it up for five weeks, I may see the full buffs. Of course, some leeway should be allowed: you're the Last Dragonborn, not the Last Dietitian. It's a video game. I feel like this, if you think it's worth the potential hassle to implement, could turn this from "just" a needs mod that flips the script to one that genuinely rewards immersively taking care of yourself long-term.
Definitely going to download this and check it out, as I'm looking for more mods that reinforce and reward smart roleplay.
Tested this for a while, it's wonderful, exactly what i wanted, a non-intrusive beneficial alternative to needs mods just as you described it Thanks a lot for this mod and for explaining the situation with weapon speed mult fix Question: do you know why, if i eat a single item i get 3 or 4 effects of calcium or carbohydrates etc in the active effects tab? Eating 1 bread gives me 4 effects in the active effects tab, i only get the stamina points of 1 but the effects appears 4 times, could i fix this?
They do not stack. Every time you eat a salmon steak the protein effect gets dispelled and reapplied. Same with all the other effects. It's like how oakflesh works. If you cast it again while the spell is still active all it does is reset the timer. You can have all 4 food effects, as well as the drink and sleep effects, active at the same time though.
OK, but wouldnt it be a good option to have only the timers stack up? For example, in real life if you eat a salmon steak you will feel good for an hour or so, then you get peckish. If you eat 2 salmon steaks you feel good for a few hours, then you get hungry again. If you eat 4 salmon steaks you feel quite satisfied and feel energized for 5 hours or so. What I'm saying is, if in game you eat 5 salmons steaks instead of just 1, you'd have the same buff, but for a longer time and it would be a good addition.
Oh man, I wish there were mashed potatoes in game.
I don't know if it's possible to make durations stack. If I have it set to let the effect stack it doesn't really double the effect. You just get two 15 minute protein effects. In other words it would be two seperate effects that provide 15 health, 5 weapon and unarmed damage, and 25 carry weight for 15 minutes for a total of 30 health,10 weapon and unarmed damage, and 50 carry weight for 15 minutes.
Also the way I designed it is for you to eat a meal every 5 hours in game so about 3 times a day if you sleep 8 hours. In other words you eat a salmon steak, garlic bread, a baked potato, a cheese wedge, and drink a bottle of ale for a meal. In real life that would be a very filling meal and with meals that size most people would eat 2 maybe 3 times a day. This would also give you all of the buffs. So if every 15 minutes you eat a balanced meal you would maintain the total buffs of 30 health/stamina/magicka, 25 armor, 25 carry weight, +5 weapon and unarmed damage, block 20% more, 25% disease resist, and 50% health/stamina/magicka regen.
If what you're wanting is your character to eat more food you can always eat before the timer runs out to reset the buffs and have 4 or 5 meals a day. If you're wanting longer durations on the effects so you don't have to keep up with your needs as often I could make a version where the food effects last longer like 30 minutes or something. You can also change the durations on everything in SSEedit to however long you want.
Fair enough I tend to play on either the vanilla time scale of 1:20 or go up to 1:30 because I like time to pass faster in the game. Feels weird to me to clear out every dungeon and cave in skyrim and Solstheim, defeat Alduin, Harkon, and Miraak, become Archmage, and end the civil war and it's been like 5 days since I got to Skyrim.
I thought about doing different versions for people with different timescales but people like so many different ones I'd have to make 10 different versions to make everyone happy. At 1:5 5 in game hours would be 60 minutes so I could make a 30 minute and 60 minute version to give people more options for their timescale.
I am getting CTDs as soon as I open a container that has Sack of Flour in it. I tried it with several barrels, chests, cupboards and I was able to produce the ctd every time. I love the idea of the mod. And I am kind of bummed that it is not working for me. I don't use mods that alter food. I use Skyrim AE.
This looks interesting, i have been interested in adding a needs mod but the idea of this mod is all i was interested in so i'm excited about this What do you know about compatibility with Better Harvesting? My game crashed twice in just a few minutes and the crash logs point to food items related to this mod and Better Harvesting, the only other files in the log being USSEP and Skyrim.ESM
I figured out why it was happening. I couldn't remove the magic effect records from the raw meat/flour sacks so I thought leaving them blank would be fine. That caused the CTDs. I made the effect on all raw meat and the sacks of flour cause 5 points of damage since they are all things that are dangerous to eat raw. Version 1.1 is uploaded and there will be no more crashes.
Hey Tag, does the food that affects health in the mod have the "restore" or the "fortify" effect? It makes sense that eating a wheel of cheese during combat will NOT restore health, but instead fortify it and of course improve regeneration slightly.

Do the durations of the effects stack up? For example, if I eat 5 salmon steaks, do I get 4500 seconds of its buff?
