A mod to assign more than 100 new outfits to many NPCs throughout Skyrim. The outfits are distributed using SPID, so no NPC records are changed, eliminating the need for patches for overhauls.

I've tried to keep everything as lore friendly as possible, but the mod is highly configurable if you want to distribute the outfits in your own way. There is a mixture of full outfits from Apachii Divine Elegance and what I call 'Vanilla+' outfits, for example farm clothes but with added items from Apachii DE such as furs, gloves, boots and jewellery.

I've also added Dunmer outfits to most Dunmers, Redguard outfits to selected female Redguards and added some unused outfits from the vanilla game such as green college robes, mourner's clothes and others.

I've looked at nearly every NPC in Skyrim (DLCs excluded for now) and given a high percentage of them a new outfit. I've excluded a few by choice to keep some original flavour and no doubt I've missed some, but you can add any NPCs you wish to the config file.

There is also a more lore friendly version that removes some of the more extravagant outfits in optional files.

My Process
I've taken into consideration several factors when assigning outfits. I've included their profession, gender, race, location, routine, social class and their wealth, as well as their age. This means a wealthy NPC will be more likely to wear fancy jewellery and a more expensive looking outfit. Working class NPCs will be more likely to wear cheaper outfits and less jewellery. If their routine is mostly outdoors they'll wear more layers and the further north you travel, you'll see more NPCs wearing gloves, hats and furs, especially if they're not Nords. If they're older they'll also wear warmer clothing. NPCs that work outdoors will be more used to the cold weather, especially if they are Nord.

A good number of NPCs have outfits that are unique to them, for example Mikael, I've gone with a flamboyant outfit that fits his personality, but of course you can change this by editing the config file, you can change his outfit or give it to other NPCs. I've given Jon a bard type outfit because he's an aspiring bard, I've given Grelka a Dawnguard armour mash-up because as an armour seller she'd have the pick of what she wanted. But again, if you don't agree with my choices, you can change them easily.

See the article for a full list of named NPCs covered by the mod.

Compatibility:
Should be compatible with anything, obviously if other mods change the same NPC outfits they may conflict, so my mod needs to be loaded after any other mod that changes their outfits. It should work with other Apachii Divine Elegance SPID mods, whichever mod loads last (alphabetically since the latest SPID update) will assign the outfit you prefer to an NPC. Or if two mods cover the same NPCs, you can edit the DISTR.ini file of that mod and remove any NPCs that clash.

Notes:
SPID distributes the outfits when the game starts, so if you install this mod after you've already encountered an NPC, the outfits they previously wore will be baked into the save. If you don't see the new outfit or they are naked, open the console, click on the NPC and type 'resetinventory'. For best results use this mod on a new game and make any changes to the config file before starting.

As I use the 3BA body I've used the 3rd party 3BA Bodyslide conversion (from the Divine Elegance archived files) which has a lot of flaws, so I've avoided any outfits that don't work very well with this, notably the Triss dress. If this ever gets updated I'll look at adding more outfits in a future update.

Please bear in mind that all this mod does is distribute outfits from another mod, any issues regarding clipping etc will need to be addressed using the outfit mod page.

Installation:

Works best on a new game. Simply install like you would any other mod using your favourite mod manager, or to install manually just unpack it and drop it in your Skyrim data folder. As the mod uses SPID which is an SKSE plug-in, it should be safe to uninstall, but you would need to use the 'resetinventory' command on any affected NPCs.

Configuration:
Hopefully most users will be happy with the mod as it is, but you can easily distribute the outfits to other NPCs in the game, or change the outfits assigned from one NPC to another. Just open the folder containing the mod, then open the file 'DE SPID_DISTRI.ini' in a text editor such as Notepad. Each outfit is described briefly in the comments and there are corresponding images for each outfit for your reference.

As an example if you would prefer Ornate Robes on Marcurio instead of the Wizard Flame Robes, find the line in the ini file that says

; Male Wizard Flame Robes
Outfit = 0X821~DE SPID.esp|Marcurio

And the line that says

; Male Ornate Robes
Outfit = 0X81F~DE SPID.esp|Brother Verulus,Drevis Neloren

And move Marcurio to the list, with a comma, EG Outfit = 0X81F~DE SPID.esp|Brother Verulus,Drevis Neloren,Marcurio

IMPORTANT NOTE 1 - if you move an NPC's name from a list that leaves the list empty it may cause errors. If you don't want to use that outfit either delete the whole line or a add a ; at the start of the line so the ini file will ignore it.

IMPORTANT NOTE 2 - if you assign an outfit to an NPC that they're already wearing, they will be naked due to a game engine limitation. For example if you assign the Vanilla + (V+) Blue Clothes to Ysolda, by default she already wears the blue farm clothes so the distribution won't work and she will be naked.

IMPORTANT NOTE 3 - some NPCs simply won't work with SPID as they change outfits at different stages of the game. Delphine and Ulfrich are two that I know of, there are probably more.

IMPORTANT NOTE 4 - outfits are marked as male, female or unisex. Unisex outfits will work on male or female but if you assign a male outfit to a female or female outfit to a male, it may not look right or may even be invisible. Some may not look right on beast races and have not been tested. Some outfits are distributed by faction or class at random, including miners, hunters, Forsworn and mages. You can change the chance of them getting the outfit by editing the percentage chance in the corresponding line.

Example

; Male Hunter
Outfit = 0X847~DE SPID.esp|TypeGeneric|0004E509|NONE|M|NONE|15

If you want a higher or lower chance of male hunters getting this outfit, simply change the 15 to a lower or higher value. For more distribution options see the main SPID page.

If there's an outfit you don't like, just delete the line from the ini file. For example if you don't want Dunmer to have Dunmer outfits, delete all the lines that have Dunmer outfits. Likewise if you don't want the Dibellan priestesses to have their slightly skimpy outfits, delete the lines in the ini file that refer to the Dibellan outfits.

Important - don't delete any of the ; (semi-colons) in the config file (unless you're deleting the whole line). I'd recommend making a back up of the ini file before editing it, but if you mess it up you can always just install the mod again.
