About this mod

An immersive follower collection with intro quests, custom dialogue, and additional follower features, such as training and spell teaching.

(This is NOT based on Brandon Sanderson's "Mistborn" series.)

Are you tired of NPCs swearing allegiance to you after such cursory interaction? Do you wish you had followers with a compelling reason to stick around? Then allow me to introduce you to:



This mod adds several followers scattered throughout Tamriel who can join you in Skyrim. These followers together have a history with you, the player, although the exact details of your past are left to your imagination.

How can I find them?

  • Ask Hulda or Ysolda to send a message outside the province.
  • Wait for correspondence from your selected followers. (If the courier is in hiding, you can check with Hulda or Ysolda for deliveries.)
  • Meet up with them once they've finally arrived!

What else is special about these followers?

  • Custom voices
    • 3,000+, and counting, lines of custom dialogue from ElevenLabs, xVASynth, and other game audio.
    • Quest dialogue with some responses based on your choices and behaviors.
    • Randomized chat dialogue, some with multiple layers, to make repetitions less noticeable[3].
    • Configurable idle commentary in some locations[2].
  • Training Skills
    • These followers can train you in multiple skills.
    • Training costs nothing but time–they are your friends, after all.
  • Teaching Spells
    • Magic-wielding followers can teach you spells that they know.
    • Like training, this costs nothing, but takes time based on spell difficulty (up to 4 days for master level spells).
  • Curing Diseases
    • Esme can cure you of diseases you may have.
    • This appears as a dialogue option when you have one or more diseases.

This mod contains some adult language and innuendo, but remains in line with the language in Skyrim. If you are particularly sensitive to this sort of thing, consider yourself forewarned.

Installation/Requirements
Only the main file is required. 
Note: If you choose the custom body/skin option, make sure its ESL-flagged plugin, Mistborn-CustomBody.esp, loads after  the main plugin, Mistborn.esp.

A package of extras are included for your convenience:

  • HD textures - High quality texture replacements for things like outfits and bodies.
  • BodySlide - Presets and shape data used for the NPCs' unclothed bodies and outfits.
  • OBody - Zeroed meshes for OBody, as well as a default configuration applying presets to these NPCs.
  • Each follower has their own body mesh that ships non-nude, without physics.
  • The recipes download includes BodySlide projects and presets. For example, to tweak Aeowyn's body in BodySlide:
      For Outfit/Body, select: Mistborn - Aeowyn - Body (3BA)
      For Preset, select: Mistborn - Aeowyn
      Tweak and build.
  • Body meshes will be created in the correct locations, for example, meshes/actors/character/mistborn/<NPC>/body/.
  • Some RaceMenu presets are available separately: Aeowyn, Elfwyn

Are mod conflicts expected?

Possibly. Some cells were edited by adding objects, although care was taken not to edit the base cell records.

  • New topic infos were added to the WICourier quest's WICourierDeliveries topic.
  • Cell additions were made to:

    • RoriksteadFrostfruitInn - includes UESSP change in base record
    • WhiterunBanneredMare - Tested with JK's Bannered Mare.
  • All editor IDs are prefixed with "MB_".

Disclaimer

This is my first quest mod and is a spare-time project. Although I intend to support this long-term and plan to release updates with more followers and features in the future, please be patient with me.

It should also be noted that this is not intentionally named after the Brandon Sanderson series of books (although a future tie-in is possible, after I binge the books).

[1] Due to the way dialogue processing works, you can still get the same random dialogue multiple times in a row, even out of a set of 100.
[2] Aeowyn has idle commentary in Dwemer ruins, with more in the works. Frequency can be tweaked via dialogue options.
