With DyndoLod 3, the snow in my game in the distance is kind of greyish instead of white. The LOD colour is definitely different than when standing directly in front of the snow.
Is this rather a DyndoLod issue or rather this mod's issue? How could it be solved (LOD more white)?
Nordic snow is definitely way darker than vanilla snow. There's probably a way to lighten lods when generating lods... you're generating terrain lods, right? But, personally, I modify my snow textures to have the same color palette and brightness as the vanilla textures. That's something I generally do with all environment texture replacements, however I don't replace a lot of textures. You can try using a different terrain noise texture, too.
I suggest installing the "Paraphernalia - Snow Colour Fixes" and tweaking the colour/brightness values in xEdit. As the textures in Nordic Snow are darker than in vanilla, you should try to go for the "Dimmer" option and then go even lower, until you find a configuration that works for you.
The greyish tone in distant snowy rocks, ruins and glaciers was very noticeable before and this mitigated the problem considerably for me.
This has nothing to do with this mod it is a issue with the LOD that is generated and how the engine shades that LOD. You need to modify the single pass color and Normal Dampener for all of the Mountain LODs setting them to 255 and 0 respectively to remove the shadow on the mountain via making these changes in a new .esp you create.
It only takes a second honestly I may release my fix on my parallax version of this mod (found in this mod pages description and under "Requirments") Anyway here is a screenshot of all the things you need to alter and what value to set them all at - just copy paste do this for the 20 or so objects and the issue will be fixed. (Screenshot expires in 6 month)
That's because there's only one noise.dds texture that's responsible for how terrain LOD will look. If you make it match snow more, aka make it white enough, then in areas with grass it will look awful and vice versa. Grayish snow terrain LOD is a middle ground solution.
I've tried more than a dozen snow textures and this one wins hands down. Coming from "snow country" myself (Buffalo, NY + Cleveland, OH) I found most snow mods made everything too bright (under vanilla lighting) or looked too clean or uniform. This one will be in my permanent load order!
Thanks for such a great mod! It's truly "Smilla's Sense of Snow" :)
sorry if silly question i just like to ask if this mod changes the falling "snowing" effects cos all i see in the pictures and description is static snow on the ground
This is definitely the best snow texture I've tried so far. However I'm getting some weird textures at certain places. Here's two examples from outside Forelhost:
I just cannot figure out what is doing this. I have the the following mods which I think might play in but regardless of how I order them nothing seems to change about it. - Folkvangr - Simplicity of Snow - Nordic Snow - HD Nordic Snow with Parallax - Less Pronounced Snow Grass - Blended roads - Nordic Snow - Blended Roads fix
I also have parallax enabled and "Terrain Parallax Fix SE", but disabling this seemed to have no effect either. If anyone has any idea, please by all means weigh in.
You should be using my mod in addition to this mod - and if you are using my mod you should be asking this question on my mod page since my mod adds parallax to this mod.
In my mod page - I detail this exact issue and as someone already mentioned its fixed by setting "EnableTerrainBlending" to false. its caused by the shader edits made by Majestic Mountains and/or Better Dynamic Snow and/or Similicity of Snow when you use parallax.
how does this compare to Beyond Skyrim - Bruma snow? does this replace the snow there also?
im using the Bruma LOD mod here, mainly because bruma will not pop up in DynDOLOD for some reason. this mod has two options, one for vanilla skyrim snow in bruma and one from default bruma snow. but these only replace distant LOD so i think you need a mod to replace the regular snow in bruma to match up better with vanilla color snow on distant LOD mod here: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/72283?tab=description

EDIT: Turns out, it doesn't.
