Great news; the wait is over! All cloaks and backpacks have been re-added to the mod, and seem to be granting protection values in Frostfall.

Wait in-game for 24 hours for vendors to repopulate their supplies, and you'll start seeing these items for sale all over Skyrim.

Huge, huge thanks to Ousnius on Nexus Mods, who single-handedly fixed most of my broken meshes. You are a generous wizard Ousinus!

I'm having a problem, where I'm trying to create a campfire. I place the stone circle and the menu "use sit destroy back" appears, no problem. But when I click the use option which should let me choose the firewood/deadwood/ whatever, my inventory shows as empty, even if I have kindling and firewood. So I'm just not able to create any campfire.

Great mod, I'm extremely fond of it... Although I have a rather annoying bug.
So I keep having this error message every other time I launch my game: "Campfire error - Legacy Frostfall detected..." But I can't resolve this so-called issue because I never had Frostfall installed in the first place. I have no idea which file the mod is mistaken for Frostfall of a Frostfall compatibility patch, since I have no such thing in my game folders...
I have to quit the game and re-launch, usually it doesn't happen twice in a row. So it doesn't keep me from playing so far, it's just very annoying.
Anyone has any idea of what's happening here?

The most common cause of this message is an issue with SKSE installation. If using SKSE64, check SKSE64 installation:
      * verify SKSE files including scripts
      * (edited) if using SkyUI workarounds or updated Campfire scripts: check that your Data\SKSE\ folder allows write access (if it does you should see Data\SKSE\Plugins\CampfireData) -- not directly related to this issue, but helps identify if Campfire working correct with SKSE+SkyUI.

If haven't yet install PapyrusUtil SE which supports 64-bit, and Campfire uses for some SKSE functionality--not the specific function responsible for this message, though.

This message may also show up if starting Skyrim without the SKSE64 loader and loading a game saved with SKSE64, or if having SKSE64 scripts present and you don't mean to use SKSE64 (remove SKSE64 scripts if intend to play without SKSE).

If not using SKSE64, first check for and remove all SKSE64 script files. Check your save-game file to see if Campfire believes you're running SKSE. In FallrimTools ReSaver look under Scripts Instances -> _Camp_Compabitility -> isSKSELoaded variable. That variable should be false. If true, change it to false.

This message is supposed to show up if you have a plugin called, "Chesko_Frostfall.esp" (the old name), but SKSE errors cause the function to fail resulting in this message. So, seeing this message may be a clue that your SKSE installation may be incomplete, or that something has gone wrong in your save. Specifically, the SKSE function, Game.GetModByName, may be missing (edited) which is found in file, Game.pex, reporting error for some reason, or the Campfire variable is set to look for SKSE but SKSE isn't available.

      Thanks for your reply Dracotorre!
Maybe it is indeed my SKSE that isn't installed properly (although I proceeded as instructed on their website), because I don't actually have a SKSE folder in the Data folder. I only have a SKSE folder in My Documents (the same folder in which there are Skyrim.ini and SkyrimPrefs.ini).
I haven't touched the SKSE installation since I first installed it. I don't have PapyrusUtil, and I always start the game with the SKSE loader.

PS : I checked the entire Skyrim folder for this Game.GetModByName file. It is indeed missing. Should I re-install SKSE? It is safe? But even if I do, if I proceed the same way chances are it results in the same issue...

Sorry, I meant to say "Game.GetModByName" is the SKSE function that is found in the file, game.pex. That file may exist and check that it's the correct file from SKSE64 and not from Skyrim (unpacked from BSA) or some mod. So, let's say EvilMod overwrites your Data\Scripts\Game.pex with original Skyrim Game-script then that SKSE function would go missing and break Campfire.

First thing is to verify correct game and SKSE64 installation. Perfectly okay to re-install SKSE64 and let it overwrite existing files.

Since you haven't performed a SkyUI workaround or using updated Campfire scripts for SkyUI SE, you may disregard the \Data\SKSE\ folder for now as explained below. Correct SKSE installation includes that mods have write access to Data\SKSE\ folder, but only some mods write data to Data\SKSE\plugins folder.

The SKSE folder isn't directly related to your issue, and normal SKSE installation doesn't create it. Installing certain mods (like PapyrusUtil) may create that folder. Normally Campfire (for 32-bit) creates that folder if missing so it can write files there, but Campfire 1.11SE doesn't since you're not expected to have SKSE. And as I've just confirmed Campfire will only write files in Data\SKSE\plugins\CampfireData\ if Campfire detects SkyUI which v1.11SE won't without updated scripts or trickery. So, you may disregard.

Thank you very much for your trying to help. I don't fully understand everything you say, but I'm gratefull nonetheless.
I re-installed SKSE but it didn't change anything. Based on what you explain, I'm not sure what I should do now...

To be clear, here is a screen capture from another player: https://imgur.com/Bd5nRIv. Note the bottom where "at plug-in position 0 of load order" -- a clue that either bad game install (including Campfire and SKSE) or something went wrong in the save-game data (possibly due to bad install or starting without SKSE-loader and saving game).

Try installing PapyrusUtil SE which Campfire needs for several SKSE functions. I don't know if this will help for this particular issue, but Campfire needs PapyrusUtil anyway.

Since only happening in one of your saves, can you load an older save and avoid the message? What if you keep playing from that older save?

For review, here are the reported solutions:

      ---------------------
To be fair, I would recommend to Chesko to improve the function in question so it will at least report a more meaningful message. Chesko has been made aware of it (reddit post).

Okay I'll try installing PapyrusUtil, thanks.
PS : no, it was for Jesusstreet it only happened on one save. For me it happened since Campfire has been installed and even starting a new game doesn't fix it.

EDIT: Didn't work. I might try to re-install campfire...

So I'm starting to have a problem I was having on an old save again. I can't place items anymore. I can go back to a previous save and I can place items again, but after a while I lose the ability to place items again. So far my only recourse has been adding back mods I deleted before that save, but there was a reason I deleted those mods in the first place. Disabling advanced placement and lowering the number of strings does nothing. I'm several weeks in on this playthrough and I don't want to have to start over again. Is there any advice you can give me?

Very odd, I have sufficient Destruction magic level, and I can usually use magic to light my campfire just fine.
But sometimes, that option shows as not available. Are there any extra requirements for that option?

If you have Frostfall the other limitation is if your character is freezing then no magic option. Need to be warm enough.

Everything else seems to be working fine except that my armor doesnt remove like it is supposed to. My shield and weapons will be taken off, but none of my armor will. I tried switching those settings on and off again but my character stays in all his armor when sitting/lying down/sleeping. Any help would be appreciated.

Edit. I saw people saying that if you are using Frostfall that you may not remove your armor because of the cold. I do not Frostfall though.

Before sit/lie in tent, have you tried removing your body armor and then putting the armor back on again? Campfire needs to initialize your outfit so it recognized the armor pieces correctly. Try that and see if that helps. If using SKSE64, try installing PapyrusUtil SE.

Also, if you happen to have mod armor using extra body slots (like a cloak), but has the keyword for the main body (ArmorCuirass or ClothingBody) then it may confuse Campfire into removing your mod armor piece instead (removes your cloak, but keeps your main body armor on). At least one cloak mod does this in order to allow warmth for CC "Survival Mode" mod. If you happen to have that mod make a habit of putting your main outfit on after cloak, or see my "Eremite Camping" mod which handles such cloaks like this for Campfire to keep Campfire from getting confused.

There is a built-in tutorial which will ask if you'd like to follow or skip tutorial, but there is also a semi-rare bug concerning first time starting a campfire. Chesko has a guide with screen captures on his site, skyrimsurvival.com/home/campfire/building-campfires/ which I'll review below and cover how to fix bug if you've encountered it.

Start a campfire by using Power spell, Resourcefulness -> Build Campfire and normally a blue-colored circle of rocks appears (as shown on SkyrimSurvival link above) with "Place Here" indicator. Placing and using (activate) the campfire then usually on first time a menu asks if you want Realistic or Quick lighting and begins the tutorial, and thereafter each activation uses your chosen light method with animation. If nothing happens then you've hit the bug.

To fix the bug: use Power spell, Options: Campfire and choose Camping -> More -> Campfire Building -> choose Quick or Realistic. Then use Resourcefulness and build campfire.

If you are using SKSE64 and SkyUI SE, there is an update expected soon to support SKSE + SkyUI SE. In the mean time, ignore MCM and use the spells.

Hey guys, I'm not sure what I did wrong but all of the in-MCM options for Campfire and Frostfall are a bit... uhmm... wonky. Does anyone know what might cause that?

Since SKSE is now up and also Sky-UI, both Campfire and Frostfall needs update, the author is working on it. If you're impatient (like I am), there are ways to port/convert the mods yourself over the internet.

For instance, the procedure is similar to this.

The idea is borrow the interface files from Skyrim LE, and grab Chesko's updated script files for SKSE64 + SkyUI SE. It's fairly easy if you're familiar with game-file organization. Also see my guide which lists which files and where to find Chesko's latest scripts. www.dracotorre.com/blog/frostfall-se-skse64/

If you're kinda-sorta-patient, realize Chesko may have the official update soon as reported on his plans for the year on reddit: www.reddit.com/r/skyrimmods/comments/7ubave/hi_heres_where_i_am_and_my_plans_for_frostfall/ with an update a month ago on Skyrim VR: www.reddit.com/r/skyrimvr/comments/8abqtd/hey_there_im_the_developer_of_frostfall_and/

I'm having the same problem, menu also reads like this for Frostfall, Wet and Cold and Sacrosanct Vampire mod. Did you manage to fix it Lion?

Edit: Nevermind, it works through powers - I'll just wait for Chesko to get to it when he does.

How can I safely uninstall this mod from Skyrim VR? I'm using Vortex and if I disable or uninstall this particular mod and load my last saved game, the scene is frozen.
There's no campfire in view, although I think there's one smoking over the next hill.

The safest uninstall is to load a save-game from before adding Campfire. If you're experienced or familiar with editing save-game files it's possible to get working again by stripping out the script data.

If you want to keep Campfire with better VR support, you might consider waiting until Chesko posts the update supporting Skyrim VR which is expected soon-ish. See Chesko's plans for Skyrim VR posted on reddit.

I tried the resaver tool to strip script data, but it didn't help. I'm not experienced enough to fix it myself. Hopefully his new VR mod will install over the old one. Otherwise, there'll be two campfire mods, which would probably be bad. I can't go back to an earlier save as I have 6 weeks of time into it, but as far as I can tell, the mod is not really harming anything.
