About this mod

Amalgam is a project meant to overhaul all enemies in the game. Currently it is in WIP stage, having only giants, animals and spriggans finished.

Amalgam – Animals, Spriggans and Giants ModuleAfter spending countless hours in my power fantasy simulator I noticed a few niches which would need filling. There are dozens of mods overhauling bandits or other enemies however there were only few which would change animals. This is where amalgam steps in.The problems I saw:
  • Animals in late game are simply bad, the highest level one is frost troll which maxes at 24. They are no match for the Dragonborn once they reach level 30, not to mention level 50, where most builds stop.
  • The mods I tried to remedy this all have problems. From antifun knockbacks, reflect damage which on higher difficulty will one shot you, to 500 armor mudcrabs.
  • I don’t like level 90 mudcrabs, or level 30 wolves so simply only large animals get higher levels version.
  • Giants and Mammoths have barely more health compared to bears and have less hp than a draugr deathlord. They should be higher level with more hp.
  • (//To do//)The quest to hunt giants will offer more gold and be a higher level accordingly.(//to do// may scrap the idea as it outside the normal scope of the mod)
  • Animals are suicidal, will attack the Dragonborn with no regard of their life.
So what does the Amalgam do?
  • It fills the leveled lists with new higher variants of animals.
  • Makes manually placed animals like for example dozen sabrecats leveled, so they scale to player level in opportune intervals.
  • Rebalances wolves as they never pose a challenge to the Dragonborn and mammoths so they are as though as they look.
  • Does not touch any other vanilla animal stats with exception of AI and bugfixes. Animals are much more cautious and will actually try to warn the dragonborn before engaging in combat.
  • Spriggans now will make use of those animals and there will also be a higher levels of spriggans with deadlier arsenal of spells.

What Amalgam will do in the future?

I intend to expand it to cover all enemies in the game with exception of dragons. My goal is to make the mod compatible with some of the finest creature mods like Huagbui or Opusglass mods. The next module will probably touch Automatons and Falmers or Forsworn as they are the most neglected vanilla factions.
