After installing the base mod, extract the files from the BSA and remove the BSA.

I had the same issue others reported with the CTD, and I am on SE.

I installed Extended UI, then overwrote the mod with the ESP fix here, and installed the Setting Loader. When starting the game the game did not get very far and crashed.

But I fixed it using the advice here. I am using MO2. When I reinstalled Extended UI, I let MO2 extract the BSA, then delete the BSA. Then I installed the ESP fix from this page, overwriting (merging) into Extended UI. Then I installed/activated the Settings Loader mod from this page. That is all it took. I also used ESPFE Follower - Eslify facegen and voices to ESLify the ESP (it did let me create an SEQ file) and that seems to have worked as well, though I have not gotten very far in testing.

Thanks again for everything you do for us, MaskedRPGFan!

likewise. First time i started using mo2's internal download and install option. I wasn't because i just felt i wanted more control over the download bloat. Silly me.

I wonder why manually downloading (and not getting the BSA prompt) screwed up the game so bad i got CTD before even loading the game?

I like it, (after finally figuring out how to install it.)

All I was really after was the LE mod Extended UI and that led me here.
Just to let you know, I extracted the BSA file in that mod (as instructed with BSA Browser) and put it in a zip file called; Extended UI BSA extracted files, installed that zip file via MO2. And guess what? That classic old mod works with or without this mod.
I don't know it anyone needs to know that or not but there it is.

Anyway, lot of cool mods you have there. Keep up the good work.
    1. ''This mod'' is just a setting loader, so that you dont have to set everything again in MCM on your new playthroughs. If youre referring to the fixed .esp file, then im glad you found that you dont need it, but I use it anyway, just in case. Instead of just extracting old BSA and leaving it loose, I repacked it with Cathedral Assets Optimizer, and put it into a .rar archive along with the fixed .esp file. I no longer have a crash at the startup.

BSA is archive used by this game to store files, sth like zip or rar, but game specific. You need to unpack files from it.
Use this: BSA Browser (with .BA2 support).

If you install Extended UI using MO2 it will ask if you want to extract the BSA just click Yes on Both Pop ups

    Hello,

my SkyrimSE refuses to fire up with the Oldrim version of ExtendedUI installed - even if I let your fixed esp plugin overwrite the original mods esp. Am I just missing something really obvious here? lol

Check first if MCM is visible without loader. If so, paste the MCM Helper log in the spoiler.

Alright, so here's the situation regarding the problem:

I'm using MO2. All required files are installed (SKSE64, SkyUI, MCMHelper)

Here's what I've done in order:

      I installed Oldrim ExtendedUI
I installed your Extended UI ESP Replacer
      I installed the settings loader

The game simply won't launch like this or at least immediately crashes. It DOES launch normally however if I set the oldrim extendedUI BSA file to "hidden" in MO2 so it doesn't get loaded/included when lauching the game. With that done i can even see the Extended UI MCM menu ingame and make changes to it but it's for naught since it's lacking the scripts from the oldrim's bsa-package. So the problem is definitely narrowed down to the oldrims extended ui BSA file. I'm guessing it might needs to be reworked or at least repackaged or something because of the AE update maybe?

It looks like it. I am using 1.5.97 and have not had any problems with BSA. Extract it directly and delete bsa.

That really did the trick! Thanks :D Everything works flawlessly now. It was definitely an issue with the AE update being incompatible with the oldrim bsa-file whereas the bsa's contents still work without any issues when you install them as loose files. You might want to pin this to the top or create a sticky just in case anyone else runs into the same problem.
For anyone who might run into the same problem, just use this tool to extract the bsa.

hey since this seems to be a good place to ask but my extended ui is always stuck to the last skill it points to before i close my skill tree. it also doesnt update when i move to choose my skills. it also doesnt properly update status changes and is always stuck to 100
