It puts a magic effect on your player that some animation sets can read. Skyrim has no native way (not skyse either) to pass the information about what key you are pressing to the animation picker, so it's like a workaround. This and dtry's keyutil are the same, but they put a differrent "code" on your character so an animation meant to work with one won't work for the other unless you know how to make small edits to the text files.
Awesome work! So when will the Joystick version be available? pleaseeeee :D
also I disagree with some of the comments here. I'm definitely no pro when it come to writing mods for Skyrim and I can only assume how the game handles stuff like the controlmap. But I've done a project for university that did something quite similar --> translating analog stick movement into key outputs. I remember this tutorial being of great use https://katyscode.wordpress.com/2013/08/30/xinput-tutorial-part-2-mapping-gamepad-buttons-and-analog-movement-to-windows-keyboard-events/ Maybe this helps someone to get the job done :D
Well... Dtry got us covered xD https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/69944?tab=files
I can't for the life of me get directional power attacks to work with MCO i want to use the hogwarts mod but i can't since directional attacks DO NOT function at all.
There are several mods on Nexus, for SE, specifically made to solve this. I personally use a stances mod- You switch to Neutral, Light, Medium or Heavy stance, they have slightly different properties and stats as well... You can even assign different idles and animation sets to each ETC. And each one of those offers a Power Attack that essentially is one of the directional ones(In my case from Ordinator) of the weapons. Neutral Stance is there to have the base Power Attack available. It's a subtle solution, but if this is not about Ordinator, good luck with your search.
I use stances, but when i go to do a directional power move (from hogwarts) the default one fires off no matter what direction i press. Any lists of these said mods which would help causes stances doesn't seem to do anything.
Make sure you're using the dtrys that works with your game version. The one that gets installed with "dtry plugin updates" doesnt work with 1170 but dtry's keyutils ae-ng does. Had the same problem. I don't blame maxsu for being frustrated as heck these days.
