Overview

Mod utilizes a small script that runs once (at game initialization) to equip one (1) aura to a curated group of Bandit Mage NPCs. The aura is the dragon absorption aura. Animation can be seen at :16 mark in the video showcase of Detailed NPCs - Storm Auras for NPCs (SPID). Mod distributes the aura to:

  • Bandit Mages (ALL: bandits, outlaws, thugs, highwaymen, plunderers, marauders)

My reasoning for only distributing one aura is two-fold. Bandits in-game randomly use fire, ice, and shock spells (+ others), which makes it impossible to match particular auras. An ice bandit mage, for example, could get a fire aura. This particular randomization defeats the purpose of my series. I also reasoned that they only deserved one aura because bandit mages are not as sophisticated as their counterparts in other factions (i.e., fire mages, ice mages, etc.). Bandits are scavengers, punks, thugs, etc. However, I gave bandits one of my favourite auras from Clanggedin's Skyrim Auras (dragon absorption), and it really helps distinguish mage bandits from the other bandit types by giving them a magic energy (which is the point of my series).

All groups can be mixed, matched, increased, reduced even disabled in the _DISTR.ini. In fact, you can re-configure the mod to distribute auras to any NPC and / or any group of NPCs that you wish! The dragon absorption aura will always be equipped on no matter how mod is configured (e.g., female, male, level, faction, voicetype, etc.).

  • Main mod triggers the aura when NPCs are engaged in combat
  • Optional mod equips a persistent or constant aura. Aura is always on in this version.
  • Aura is animated.
  • Both mods are purely cosmetic. Aura provides no buffs, nerfs, enchantments, benefits, etc. Visual effect only.
  • Pick one file to use.

Compatibility
Highly compatible with most setups, and with most other mods.
  • Spell Perk Item Distributor (SPID) does not edit levelled lists, and does not modify or generate new records.
  • Body slots, however, are not compatible. Choose wisely, or edit the body slot. I will not alter body slots.

Installation and Uninstallation
Use the mod manager of your choice to install. Or manually. To uninstall, remove with mod manager. My understanding is that SPID will not impact save games in any way. Safe to uninstall at anytime.

Configuration
Huge number of configuration options available. Please see Article for more information.

Caveats
  • Pick one (1) file. Just one. No. One.
  • Auras may behave differently or look different depending on setup (e.g., robes, skin textures, etc.).
