Requiem SE Patches - Light Steps Perk Overhaul Patch

Requiem - The Roleplaying Overhaul v4.0.2 (SSE-Converted)
================================================
The Light Steps Perk, preventing players from setting off traps. I hate it. When playing a game, some progression should be handled by the game - I'm no master swordsman, so I want a perk tree that makes me suck less at swordplay. But some things are more fun left to gamer skill progression, absent handholding. Like aim assist. Or not setting off traps. I LIKE that inattention can result in a giant metal spiked wall hitting me in the face. I also like the ability to set off traps when I WANT to, such as leading draugr into them.

Unfortunately, the perk tree past Light Steps is locked, forcing you to take it if you want better stealth progression.

(What This Mod Does)
Light Steps Perk Overhaul Patch:

No more light steps. Well, technically the perk is still referenced as normal for all the traps in the game (that's how it works - checks to see if you have the perk or not before triggering), but you no longer have that perk. You have a different, "better" (maybe?) perk:

Stealth Adept
Description: You have learned how to pad heavy armor to quiet your movements, and are even quieter when unarmored.

Bad name? Deal with it. Or suggest a better one. This perk replaces Light Steps, and grants the following abilities:

  • While wearing Heavy Armor, and not wearing any Light Armor, you will gain the equivalent of Rank 1 & Rank II of the Stealth perk (bottom perk in the tree).

This grants +50 detection sneak skill (affects NPC skill at noticing you) while wearing Heavy Armor, and NO Light Armor. Does not work while wearing no armor at all.

All Requiem sneak perks only work while NOT wearing Heavy Armor, and thus this will NOT stack with your sneak bonus gained from other perks (i.e. it is its own thing, separate from your base Requiem stealth bonus via perks). It DOES stack with the bonus granted by your current Sneak skill level (which is minimal compared to perks).

  • While wearing No Armor, you gain the equivalent of Stealth Rank I/Muffled Movement (both grant the same increase).

This grants +15 detection sneak skill, while wearing NO Armor at all. It DOES stack with all other Requiem sneak perks (not my Heavy Armor bonus), which means while wearing no armor you are a slightly sneakier sneak than you are wearing Light Armor.

TLDR: Essentially it gives you some proficiency at sneaking in heavy armor and a slight bonus for being unarmored. At this point in the skill tree, you would be about 2/3 as stealthy in heavy armor as you would in light armor. This gap will increase considerably if you further progress in the perk tree, leaving heavy armor far behind light armor at higher levels of stealth. That said, I might adjust it in the future so it scales a bit, granting less stealth the moment you're able to take it, and a tiered increase as you progress in stealth skill and/or take other stealth perks. Maybe. Didn't want to get all fancy with tons of conditions, as I just wanted functionally possible heavy armor stealth. We'll see.

Note For Installation: This does NOT remove the existing Light Steps perk, because that would change a bunch of other things beyond the scope of this mod. As such, if you already have the Light Steps perk you will need to remove it via console or you will continue to be immune to traps.

In the console type the following:
player.removeperk 0005820c

Tangent #1:
Regarding mechanics, despite my (awesome) perk description none of this (and same is true in base Requiem) affects light level or noise calculations for stealth. This is pure, 100% crouching in the dark sneakiness factor. You are now able to crouch motionless in the dark in heavy armor and not instantly be spotted. I make no promises as to your super-sleuth success rate if you go clanking around in heavy armor without a muffle spell. Just sayin'.

Tangent #2:
Didn't want to combine this with a traps mod as many people likely are using one from another mod, but I'd suggest either removing Requiem's invisible trap meshes (because the current invisible trap implementation is stupid, in my humble opinion), or install a mod that uses pressure plate textures that better blend with dungeon meshes so they're harder to see. Up to you, but you'd probably REEEALLY miss the Light Steps perk if you're running vanilla Requiem.
