About this mod

Mod and guide to quickly customize music for all regions, types of dungeons, cities, enemies, etc.

Requirements
Permissions and credits
Short: with this mod you can customize music more than with Personalized Music \ not so much as with CDMS. Also you can automatize this process and customize stingers if you want.
(in readme section\file you can see what exactly you can customize)
(also, pardon my english, i'm not from these lands)

Not so short:
there are a few great mods that allow you to customize Skyrim music, but none of them met all my preferences at the same time:
- Specialized music for EVERY region (including Reach, Volcanic Tundra, Marsh, Snow, Coast, Forest Fall and Solstheim's regions)
- Specialized music for every enemy type
- Specialized music for perk tree
- Specialized music for every dungeon type
- Specialized music for villages and their interiors
- Specialized music for sunset, sunrise and night
- Specialized music for some notable recurring outside locations
- Specialized music for some unique interior&outside locations
- Specialized music for werewolf and vampire lord forms
- Specialized music for some another notable reccuring situations

(in other words, specialized music for different visual and gameplay situations - because lack of musical diversity gives you feeling of vanilla as very generic expirience, just like the boring and similiar looking NPCs do)

So i took the the mod with bigger funcionality and reworked it to match my preferences

Also, I was always annoyed and bored in the process of correct renaming the .xwm tracks and sort them into folders

So i made new config file for one very useful Oldrim-utilite to make process of customization fast and simple. (look at the optional guide below)

What's the difference with Personalized Music?
- More regions and location types with specialized music (check readme)
- Specialized combat music
- Less music that can play everywhere
- Music not customizable for every player's house

What's the difference with Epic Music Overhaul? (which is sadly hidden by author for now)
- More regions and location types with specialized music (check readme again)
- Scripts used only for vampire&werewolf music (optional)

What's the difference with CDMS \ DRAkE?
- Basically this mod is DOWNSCALED version of CDMS with some changes like combat music based on enemy type (not the location where the battle takes place) same music for all villages and their interiors and different beast form music handling (check readme for the last time)
- No time of day\week based music (except for dawns, dusks and nights in the outside locations)
- Dungeon music specified only on visual style of locations, not aspects like type of habitans
- No caution\tension music
(In short: these two mods offers you bigger variety of slots and base music customization on a lot of aspects and conditions. If you want to your music almost never repeat, you should look at CDMS or DRAkE. If that is too much variety for you and you just want something bigger than Personalized Music, the mod you are looking at right now may be for you)

All mods above are great and may suit your personal preferences better

Guide (optional, it's just the short way;
you can make everything just by hands - to do so you need only audio converter and to look at readme section\file to see how to name .xwm tracks and where to place them)

Download Skyrim Audio Converter (or use .xwm converter you prefer) and unpack it where you want

Download main file of Custom Music Organizer and put it into Skyrim folder, then create here any file and name it TESV.exe (or just copy it from Oldrim) (Organizer works for SSE, just any right named .exe file needed)

Download Main of Dynamic Music System, unpack it and place .esp and music folder into the Data
(don't use NMM or Mod Organizer - music folder must be placed in Data)

(If you also want to customize stingers) download optional config and replace old one with it

(If you are using Vivid Weathers\Climates of Tamriel\True Storms) download and install corresponded patch (you can use any mod manager)

(If you want to customize music for vampire lord and werewolf forms) download and install optional plugin (you can use any mod manager)

(If you want to customize music for vampire lord and werewolf forms and have Sacrosanct \ Moonlight Tales) download corresponded patches wait for compatibility patch (if you have Better Vampires, it's already compatible)

Open Skyrim Audio Converter, drag'n'drop audio track(s) which you want to put in the game, convert

Open Custom Music Organizer, drag'n'drop .xwm track(s) where you want to hear it, apply

Play and listen

Optional Vampire Lord and Werewolf forms music

This plugin changes unmarked quests that starts every time player transforms in one little detail: two stages of this quest now contain scripts to trigger and remove music. It's the same script that force civil war music during sieges and intro music when player rides in a cart in vanilla start.
Music will start to play right after transformation and will play instead of any explore and combat music until returning to human form.
This is not constantly running script, so it won't hit performance and even may be deleted during midgame without breaking anything.
Just delete files and save in human form to clean your game from scripts.
Plugin also contains edits from Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch to avoid conflicting with it.

Known issues\Compatibility

- In very few minor locations (like Bulwark in Raven Rock) Perk Tree music won't work due to technical limitations of implementing method

- Optional plugin for werewolf&vampirelord music removes the restriction of one transformation per day for werewolf (i'm working on it, but fixing this may create more serious problems). Also mods that alter vampirelord\werewolf form may cause absence of corresponding music (compatibility patches will be provided)

- If you don't fill all .xwm slots, it may cause little delays before corresponding music start to play

- Music may change during loading screen (vanilla bugs)

- In rare cases (like enter\exit village area or temple) explore music don't change immediately, only next track will be picked right (save\load starts new proper track)

- Ash spawns from Dragonborn triggers dwemer combat music (fixing this may cause more serious problems)

- When you reloading during combat, wrong music can be picked (most likely it will be creature combat music)

- Mods that change region records (like weather mods), cells of winterhold college interiors or Morthal exterior cells may cause absence of corresponding music (compatibility patches needed)

- Most mods that change\remove\add music will be incompatible

Future plans

Technically it's possible to attach music (and make it customizable) almost for everything in the game, like different weathers, trespassing in someone's house, horse riding. As for me, I think it makes sense to emphasize various visual\gameplay\story\sound aspects and situations of game with different music, but not to the point when this becomes music spoiler. So i will look at most reccuring game content and mechanics (like world map) with this idea in mind.

But to be honest, I doubt that common player needs this amount of customizable music.

Though if there will be a suggestions about game content and mechanics that needs customizable soundtrack, i'm open for it.

Also, i can't contact Audio Converter and Music Organizer authors due to their absence (is that a proper word?), that's why i'm only linking (what about this one?) their work. Maybe i'll just try to somehow combine all this funcionality in more solid framework.

Credits

Main work on this mod was removing\reworking\rearranging already existing lines and records from CDMS.

So bigger part of this mod was already done by CDMS author, HellLizard (he's also consulted me with some questions).

Skyrim Audio Converter made by JohnBSkyrim.

Custom Music Organizer made by blackoutroulette.

I am not a co-author of any of mentioned creations, just a grateful user.
