Highlands - Enchantments Expansion


Highlands - Enchantments Expansion adds more variety to Skyrim's enchanting system in a lore friendly way. New enchantments such as Spell Absorption are now available in Skyrim! Items with new effects are added to existing leveled lists in a conflict-free way- use whatever other enchantment overhauls you like.

The Highlands series of mods is a personal project to learn modding. My goals with the series are to expand on concepts from previous Elder Scrolls titles, especially Oblivion, and to integrate new ideas from games like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild into the world of Skyrim. All mods in the Highlands series will prioritize being compatible, synergistic, and low impact.

Highlands - Enchantments Expansion is currently not compatible
with Anniversary Edition (Skyrim SE 1.6+) due to a dependency on Skyrim Platform. However, once Skyrim Platform is updated for AE, Highlands - Enchantments Expansion should (probably) work in Anniversary Edition without issues.

Included Enchantments

Weapons
All elemental weapon damage enchantments have a new secondary effect. Secondary effects only trigger when the target is below a certain percentage of health or stamina. Depending on the strength of the effect, the secondary effect triggers on higher or lower percentages. This helps retain balance, while adding more of an incentive to use the overlooked damage types of frost and shock on weapons.

  • Frost weapons freeze targets below 20% health or stamina.
  • Shock weapons disarm targets below 50% health or stamina.
  • Fire weapons frighten targets below 20% health or stamina.


Armor
New enchantments for rings and apparel are added to the game. Highlands adds effects from previous Elder Scrolls games that are generally missing in current enchantment mods, such as Fortify Acrobatics. All new enchantments are disenchantable, and can be placed onto your own gear! New enchantments may be added in the future.

When you start or load a game, Highlands will inject items with the new enchantments into the world's leveled lists, so you should eventually encounter them as you play. Currently, only enchanted rings are added into leveled lists- this may get expanded to amulets in the future as well.

  • Fortify Acrobatics increases how high you can jump using the new patch Jumping Bonus Fix or the SP Version
  • Fortify Athletics increases your movement speed.
  • Fortify Spell Absorption increases your chance of absorbing enemy spells.

Compatibility
Highlands uses leveled list injection in order to add enchanted items into the world, which means there's no need to patch leveled lists if you're using it along side other mods. This mod does modify the elemental weapon types added above- if you want Highlands' changes to take priority, load Highlands after your other mods that modify enchantments.

You can use Highlands - Enchantments Expansion along side other enchantment overhaul mods- I do! Some of my favorites are Summermyst and Thaumaturgy. In the future, I will be avoiding conflicts with popular enchantment mods, and trying to build out the Highlands series to be as unobtrusive as possible in your load order. I may also create a version that uses Papyrus, instead of Skyrim Platform's Typescript, but this isn't a current priority.
