Found an interesting little trick earlier with the automatic one: If you let off the mouse button and then hold it again after firing a few rounds (requires some timing), you can get the firing script to double up for as long as you're holding fire, and thus double the rate of fire and mow over whatever you're aiming at. Or at least, for 30 bolts worth. Which, at a rate of apparently ~800 rpm, isn't going to be very long. Still, I was very amused to find out my sick auto-crossbow came with fuller auto.
I'm having the same problem, all 3 crossbows just fire like a normal one. I have tried the solution above, including the saving, and it still isn't working. Any ideas?
I am wondering how to modify this mod to make it less overpowered (eg reduce magazine capacity to somewhere between 6 to 10 bolts). More like a revolver than a modern assault rifle.
for some reason this isn't working for me. i first used the console and spawned the automatic crossbow to test out but it only fires like a regular one. i even tried crafting it and the bolts, to no avail. i installed all the required mods using MO2. i'm not sure if i have something that conflicts with this, but seeing as how the game i'm playing is the AE version there aren't a whole lot of mods that i'm using atm that require skse.
The latest SKSE has been updated for AE build 2.1.5 (runtime 1.6.353). Skyrim Platform is still working on making the AE version compatible. We just have to wait. I'm looking forward to trying out this New Automatic Crossbows mod! :)
Works great, my dude. Combining this with Crosshair-aligned Crossbow by Pragasette and Ordo Legionis by AfriCanuckinOz actually produces guns that feel... pretty mildly okay to use in Skyrim, which is a hell of an improvement over the staves with gun models alternative many others use.
Granted, I had to f*#@ around with the Tanegashima model included in Ordo Legionis in both NifSkope and Outfit Studio to get it lined up with the crosshair literally at all and also not be comically oversized, but once that was done it turned out functional enough. Your article on adding this mod's functions to other custom crossbows was incredibly easy to follow to this end.
Honestly, at this point, someone coming along and making more fitting animations to suit a proper firearm (and make the sights usable) to apply to modded crossbows rather than needing to use Bethesda's janky default crossbow animations is about all we need to have a good rifle/shotgun platform for further mods.
Kudos, bud. Let's hope that this'll be the first step towards really good (proper) gun mods appearing on the site in the near future.
I know this may be unpopular but is it possible to make duplicate models of the CC crossbows, and make them use the Automatic Crossbow Scripts from this, and to possibly have sensible leveled list distribution? (Imperials using Steel, Dawnguard using Steel or Dwarven, Companions/Stormcloaks using Nordic etc.)
So for example vanilla Steel and Dwarven Automatic Crossbow, the the CC Automatic *Crafting material name here i.e. Daedric* Crossbow?

If that doesn't work, try disabling Skyrim Platform, unequip, enable SP, in that order.

Shoots one bullet per mouse click, and only reloads after the magazine is empty.
