Anyone looking to use this mod with Faster HDT-SMP. Simply open the configs.xml (using notepad) for Faster HDT-SMP and change line 7 from <enableNPCFaceParts>true</enableNPCFaceParts> to <enableNPCFaceParts>false</enableNPCFaceParts>
No problem, I just found the SE version of Jarek in the comments of the LE page, and i couldn't not have Xanthys too. When there is a will there is a way! I only use HDT-SMP for cloaks and a few armors, so disabling the face parts works great for me. Idk how it will work with mods that require that function to work. Im assuming hair mods mostly.
For some reason, Xanthys doesn't sit down with me at an inn like it says he would in the original mod page. He just stands there and stares (probably thinking about fire)
Awesome mod! remember used him in "normal skyrim" though i do have a bug his "New" dialogue aren't voiced, like the one with the dawnguard. any solution ?
Getting a CTD if I look at the Pyromancer Heavy Armor in the crafting menu. Crash log appears to have found a missing texture/issue in textures/xanthys/armor/wildhunt-caranthir/armor_e.dds. Unpacked the .bsa and had a look, the file is showing no image for that particular file. Can't tell what exact issue the game is having with it. I tried deleting that particular file and repacking everything into a zip, then installing that but still got the same CTD and crash log message.
If you have an invisible head, just glowing eyes and a mohawk on him and you have HDT SMP or Faster HDT which is what I use and I had the invisible head problem on my own port, the way I fixed it was in the faster HDT config xml look for the following lines which for me was lines19 - 25
And you can see I changed 'enableNPCFaceParts' to false and his head appeared. So no need to remove the mod entirely like some have done.
Couldn't reply to the comment due to it being locked, but I can confirm that daken72127's method for turning off Faster HDT-SMP DOES work and does NOT affect hair mods. I use KS HDT Hairdos and KS HDT Wigs and neither were affected by using this method!

THANK YOU FOR CONVERTING THIS! Used to use this follower ALL.THE.TIME on Legendary Edition. Sad that the author never converted him, you did a good thing thank you so much.
i love this follower so much, truly. i am so incredibly grateful for the port :) my brother and i have missed xanthys after moving to special edition.
i do have an issue though that i am not sure is because of a glitch or if i haven't hung out with him enough (unlikely) but there doesn't seem to be any progression happening with him at the moment. i've played with him exclusively as a follower my entire playthrough of the college questline, the dark brotherhood and up to diplomatic immunity in the main questline. this excludes all the side quests i've done too. the relationship progression seems to be stagnant and i'm worried it's something i might have done to cause it. it is said he needs to level up on the mod page but i'm not sure if this is happening. he hasn't upgraded any spells either.
is there any solution for this or am i just impatient and need to wait and adventure a bit longer?
Hi! This seems to be a bug that has been established on the original mod page; but I'll still try to help as much as possible! Someone seems to have fixed it by getting him into the "bleedout" stage; which you can do through console or just take him up to a Giant or something. See if that fixes him, if not; please dm me as to not clog up the posts and we can get it sorted out together!

i thought i'd type out how i fixed the relationship problem here so that other people can try it out if they get the bug. a friend helped me figure this out by digging through the posts on the original mod.
TO FIX BUG: dismiss and then immediately ask him to follow you again - that should fix the problem with his stagnant levels and relationship :)
