    This help me to find an issue that I was having in game haha. That line was already active in my ini even if I didn't change it before. So thanks!😜

    Thanks!

    Downloaded mod purely to endorse it since I edited the ini myself but this mod was the fastest way to find what I needed to make Anniversary Edition content download in the background.

    for some reason the .ini entry does exactly nothing in my game.
    I tried it before (manually adding bAlwaysActive=1) but my game just pauses. Of course it captures the keyboard, so either I have to open the Console or the Menu to prevent strange things.
    Do you have an idea what may be wrong?

      I have no idea, but we can try guess. Are you using MS or Linux? MO2 or Vortex?

      win10, MO2
      The ini entry is present in the local ini file for the profile as well as in the custom ini

      Try this: SSE Display Tweaks.

      I am using SSE Display Tweaks already. Or is there a special setting for Background execution?

      Try SkyTweak, SkyTweak SE - Guide. It has an option that allows skyrim to run in the background.

      Did you found solution? For me too bAlwaysActive=1 does exactly nothing...

      It is possible that you have this option overwritten via another configuration file. Type in the console:
      setini "bAlwaysActive:General" 1

      Thank you for this console command as it finally solved the problem that has been bothering me for centuries

    I think I understand this.... So theoretically I could start mining stone or clay, leave to pick up groceries for an hour, come back, and my game would still be running with my player accumulating a lot of resources without the game pausing or quitting?  Or if I have my game paused to take a phone call, I can come back, and it will still be paused instead of the game just quitting?  If so, I am sold!

      This will make game running, even when skyirm window in not active (alt tab).

    Is there any side effects from having the game run always active? I'm just curious about the feature itself, not your implementation of it, whether it's done with your plugin or by editing the .ini

      None with one exception: it capture keys, so if you want to type, open up the console before switching skyrim to the background.

      Sup Masked, I've tried adding the ini setting to Skyrim.ini, and while the game does keep running in the background when I alt+tab (so I see the ini setting IS working) the game still pauses while I have the steam overlay open. Do you happen to know any way to keep the game running with the steam overlay open by any chance?

      Do not use steam overlay. It's borked.

      Borked? What's wrong with it? O.o

      Doesn't work properly with Skyrim. I don't know what they did, but pretty much every tutorial advocating disabling it.

      Well, in that case then I guess there's no much point in trying to make Skyrim run in the background with that overlay, and since that won't work I'll settle for alt+tabbing during some boring dialogues that I already know by now. Thanks mate.

    With Linux this mod is unnecessary, but I always wanted this feature when I played Skyrim on Windows. What I am looking for is a mod like this but that pauses Skyrim without consuming CPU energy. I doubt it can be possible, because it is hard coded in the engine, but there are games that do it, and avoids to load the game every time you want to play some minutes.

    ehm...maybe I´m missing something: what is the convenience of using a plugin instead of simply change a digit in Skyrim.ini?

    [General]Force Skyrim to remain active when out of focus
    bAlwaysActive toggles the ability of the game to remain active when it is out of focus (e.g., in a windowed mode setup, if one clicks outside the Skyrim window with this enabled, the game will not pause).
    bAlwaysActive=1

      From description:
      This is just a blank .esp to let Skyrim apply the included ini settings.
      If you don't want to use mod, edit your own Skyrim.ini:
      [General]
      bAlwaysActive=1

      If you don't want to manually change these settings, you can use a mod. Easy. Take a look at this mod, 200k people who wanted to use the mod instead of writing two ini settings. Over half milon ppl in LE.

      ehm...maybe I´m missing something
      No you haven't missed anything this is for lazy users.

    Quick question because I may be a dumbass, why would you need to keep Skyrim always active ?

      For example, if you're waiting for area to load and at the same time want to quickly check your email, or if you are listening to something on yt and killing mobs in dungeons, the possibilities are endless.
