Ghosts just became your worst nightmare! This mod restores an unused ghost shader, that was going to replace the vanilla cartoony one on all ghosts, but was forgotten in development. I restored it for all ghosts in the game except spirits and familiars, those will retain the old ghost shader for stylistic reasons. On top of that I restored a cut mechanic to all ghosts and familiars which makes all normal weaponry and spells ineffective against them: When you hit a ghost with an unsuitable spell or weapon the ghost will fade out and turn invincible for 3 seconds. You can still damage them with normal spells and weaponry but only every 3 seconds. This is actually the continuation of a mechanic that was introduced way back in arena and daggerfall were weapons below a certain rarity wouldnt deal any damage against opponents such as ghosts. This is the less hardcore and more gameplay friendly version of it. Weapons and spells that won't make a ghost fade and will help tremendously in killing them are Silver weapons, ghost-like weapons, "holy" weapons and ammunition, like dawnbreaker or sunhallowed arrows and weapons enchanted with the turn undead enchantment, as well as all hostile spells of the restoration school minus poison. This makes the game somewhat harder but ghosts also a lot more scary and a worthy opponent. No more steamrolling ghosts without investing into killing undead. Furthermore familiars are way more useful now, as they get half damage from the ghost perk as well as turning invincible like ghosts after the first hit (unless hit with the aforementioned weaponry).

  • Semi-incompatible with Ordinator. Needs compatibility patch to add missing hit reaction flags to its perks.

  • This mod replaces a vanilla script, can install midgame. Safe to uninstall or upgrade as long as you kill all ghosts that loaded with the new script.
  • Compatible with mod-added Silver Weapons
  • If you are unsure if its compatible load this mod last and see how it goes, I can't test every mod interaction. Your game won't explode.
