I have this really odd problem. I completely checked it one by one on my modlist when the problem arised and can confirm it came from this setting loader.

When i have this setting loader on. No one will attack me, friend or foe or even by instigation. I haven't screwed with the regular SIC MCM yet but by default just about everything is turned off. If I start a new game with this setting loader removed everything is fine including the default MCM settings.

Could it be that I was using the current v7.02 of SIC? I have already have MCM Helper and FISS converted to an ESL

I can live without this setting loader since it's just one and adding the others save so much time. I just find it really crazy a setting can this type of thing

Can confirm. With this enabled no enemy attacks me.

I tried with the new version, but with it my immersive creatures mcm menu is gone, same with a clean save. And as a consequence enemies still won't attack.

Try without loader and tell me results.

Also make sure you have esp enabled.

Without the loader the Immersive Creatures MCM appears and enemies attack me on sight.

Enable loader esp, enable papyrus debug log, run new game, wait 2-3 (till all notifications disappear) min and send me papyrus log via pm.

Edit, after doing some testing I ended up noticing that I was using the FISSES ESL patch. Looks like that caused the incompatibility. I didn't even realise that it was installed and other mods I use that rely on FISSES work just fine. Oh well, at least this wasn't all for nothing!
I also noticed that I had forgotten to turn off papyrus logging since I last did some debugging and quit last year, so thank you for getting me to notice that as well! Been playing with it enabled for the last month or so.

      I'm glad you fixed it.
For easy papyrus debug switching use this: Papyrus Debug Mode.

      Found a fix for this:

      • "Help & Guides" page in SIC MCM
      • "Max. Active Actors" section
      • "AI Control" toggle is deactivated, set this to "Activated"
      • Can use the default values (Combat: 20, Complex Scenes: 40, Follow Player: 2) or adjust accordingly depending on stability of your Skyrim and hardware capabilities.
      • I THINK activating, leaving defaults, then deactivating so other mods that does this feature can work with SIC works too.

Literally almost had a desk flip moment figuring out why nobody would attack when i walked up to them and bopped them on the head with a mace and shrugged it of, but anyone else and they go "HOW DARE YOU?!" or even funnier, THEY IGNORE THE PLAYER COMPLETELY IN THINGS LIKE CIVIL WAR SIEGES

OMG, this took me half a day to find the culprit. Can confirm this happened to me as well and I'm using the ESP version of FISS. Should we move this one to the bug report ?

I'm not sure if my issues are with SIC itself or the settings loader, but I'm not getting any settings loaded on new games.  Every new game, it loads with most of the options greyed out, but showing as "Activated".

For any others with the same issue: I just figured out that choosing the "Reset MCM Settings" option on the first settings page does reenable everything that was disabled and sets it to the defaults. This saves a lot of time, since manually activating each setting puts every setting at 0 instead of the default.  More of an inconvenience unless you make a lot of changes...

I do have the FISSES ESLified patch, i've tried both the standard and the 60 seconds version.  And I have SIC v7.02.

      Try 2.0.2.

I'm going to do some more testing, but so far, the only difference with 2.0.2 is that when I choose Reset MCM Settings, it doesn't reset the Actor Limits setting on the last page anymore...  Which was the "hostile npc's not targeting the player" source.

It may just be an issue with SIC itself or a conflict with some of my other mods...  Can you recommend a way to provide a debug log for you if i'm not getting a CTD? Is there a log for mod loading?

Either way, thank you for the quick response and attempt.  You are one of the most active modders on here...

Sadly log will not help if MCM works, without additional debug code in MCM. I think the best will be:
      - disable loader
      - delete all fisses settings
      - run new game configure settings and save them manually with fisses
      - close game and enable loader
      - run new game and check if MCM works correctly

Btw loader doesn't touch the MCM script just adds an extra layer on top of it.

Okay, figured out at least part of the problem...  As long as I have the ESLified FISSES patch active, I do not get the save and load MCM Settings options in the SIC MCM.  Coincidentally, I also do not get to even see the CBBE 3BA MCM with the patch activated either, which is a completely different issue, I'm sure.  It would be really nice if there was a .ESL tag option... (Suggestion posted)

At this point, I've finally confirmed that the problem is no longer in your wheelhouse, thank you for the help and troubleshooting!
Now I just have to decide whether it's worth having FISSES.esp as a light plugin or not...

According to a bug thread on FileAccess Interface for Skyrim SE Scripts? this mod is responsible for crashes on starting a new game.

I'm 99% sure now it's just that I installed too many mods for my computer's shitty memory to handle. Check if your memory is maxing out in your crash log.

Do you think you can make an espless and MCM Recorder version, just as like your other settings loader mod?

Any reason why this one needs FISSES while your other ones don't even have a plugin? I'm thinking one of the big draws of these mods is that they use PapyrusUtil rather than FISSES, or am I missing something?

Skyrim Immersive Creatures already has FISS support. I only use the functions provided by the original mod.
This version is slightly different as it does not replace the files provided by the original mod.

Usually I write save/load support for mod, and when I do I use PapyrusUtil.

Interested to know how this differs from MCM Helper, aside from mods needing to be adjusted for MCM Helper, and its benefits.

      I think this:
mods needing to be adjusted for MCM Helper
Put simply, it doesn't force you to rewrite mods. This makes it super lightweight, easy to patch (if any) if the base mod is updated, it can be added and removed at any point in the game and has no impact on performance, can be merged with any mod if you want to.

I see. Does load order matter with this or can it easily just be after everything else?
