Optional version that decreases dual cast cost and increases dual cast effectiveness too.

Want to do a pure mage playthrough, but sick and tired of the stock Fortify Destruction, etc. enchantments and DON'T want 200 non-mage based enchantments and enchanted items that some total enchantment overhaul provides? Look no further, this is what you need.

This mod will help balance the underpowered spells in the game, especially closer to the end of the game where as a mage you end up spamming a spell over and over. You won't get one shot one kill with this, it just beefs up your spells along with reducing casting cost (and increasing magicka regen as well with half of them) via the ten modified enchantments.

WHAT THIS MOD DOES

  • These changes are made with as few edits as possible of base game assets, no scripts, and will be seen throughout Skyrim in enchanted items you find and purchase. To learn them simply find or purchase items with the enchantments you want and disenchant them. You will find I have placed 5 minor rings in the Whiterun Jarl's Mage's office on his desk next to the soul gem holder. You can also purchase robes with some of the enchantments from the mage, and disenchant those to get you started. See pictures. 10 changed Enchantment Magic Effects in all. Enchantments can be placed on Armor, Robes and Jewelry in vanilla game.

  • Changes the base magic effects for "Fortify Destruction" (etc) and "Fortify Destruction & Magicka Regen" (etc) enchantments from "Destruction Spells take (mag)% less to cast" to ""Destruction Spells take (mag)% less to cast and are (mag)% more effective" and "Destruction Spells take (mag)% less to cast. Magicka regenerates (mag)% faster" to  "Destruction Spells take (mag)% less to cast and are (mag)% more effective. Magicka regenerates (mag)% faster" for all five (Alteration, Conjuration, Destruction, Illusion and Restoration) magic casting skills.

  • The "(mag)% more effective part" breaks down as follows: Alteration = duration, Conjuration = duration, Destruction = magnitude, Illusion = magnitude, Restoration = magnitude.

  • These changes will effect some unique items in the game as well, even though the item description doesn't reflect them (the Arch-mage Robes for instance, and a few others. Basically if they use these base enchantments then the uniques will inherit the changes. I noticed a few items in LOTD benefited from this mod as well.).

  • The changes include forwarding USSEP changes that remove the restoration enchantment bug from these enchantments, if enough people ask for it I will upload a version that is susceptible to that bug, but the real purpose of the mod isn't  to make anything over powered, but to balance magic a bit more. 

  • NOTE: IF YOU USE ANY MOD OR PATCHER THAT MAKES ENCHANTMENTS WORK FOR NPCs, NPC MAGIC WILL BECOME MORE POWERFULL IF THEY HAVE THE FORTIFY SKILL FOR THE MAGIC THEY ARE CASTING AT YOU OR WITH YOU - THIS IS ALSO FOR BALANCING PURPOSES, YOUR MAGE FOLLOWERS AND MAGE OPPONENTS BENEFIT FROM THE SAME AMPLIFICATION AS YOU AND BECOME EXPONENTIALLY MORE DIFFICULT - I USE A SYNTHESIS PATCHER BUT SOMETHING LIKE Enchantments and Potions Work for NPCs WILL WORK WELL FOR HELPING TO BALANCE THIS MOD EVEN MORE.

COMPATIBILITY

Obviously this mod is NOT compatible with any other mod that modifies these base magic effects (many enchantment overhauls do, like Summermyst for instance). If the other mod is loaded after mine it will most likely overwrite this entire mod, if my mod is loaded after it MAY adversely (or positively) effect the other mod, or break it entirely. If enough people ask I could try to make patches for some of the more popular ones. If loaded after Summermyst I believe Summermyst benefits from it. 

BACKGROUND

This is the latest of mods that started as edits in my final patch. All of my mods to date started that way. Thinking of doing a mage playthrough the next time through and started looking and couldn't find the last modlist I had the patch in that had these edits and so recreated this from memory - please let me know if you have any issues.
