Foreword

While in most fantasy settings manipulation of magic is rare and in some cases exclusive, in elder scrolls it's something every farmer, beggar and sellsword can do. Now, that's not a bad thing, heck this mod isn't adressing that anyone with enought magicka can still hurl their spells, but what this mod does is cange it from a renewable recource to a finite one for most races besides the lucky few selceted by SPID.

No longer can the mortal races compare themselves with the tinkertot knife ears. Aye, you heard right, thants to the awesome powers of SPID I have applied racial differences how a race handles magic, both the player and most npcs of Nords, Redguards, Argonians, Khajiit's and in lesser extent Bretons (Breeding with twigs has it's benefits.)

As for Santa's little helpers with a superiority complex life goes on as usual.
(except for 1% of the NPC's of said race, there are alot of stories with protagonists who can not for some reason use magic, or cultivate if you know about chinese wuxia and xianxia. I personally like this marginal 1% exclusion, great for storytelling. )

Elves as they are decendants of Aldmer who themselves are decendants of Aedra felt lacking and too similliar with other races to play and play against. Now, as they should have, a distincitive advantage to most beastial and man races. The ability to regenerate magicka as a whole race.

To me at least this feels immersive, and gives a whole new depth to playing as a Nord, Imperial etc. spellcaster. Going against an elf spellslinger makes you feel inferior, while you chug potions the mer will laugh at your face and keeps throwing icicles at you or heaven forbid, LIGHTNING. This makes lightning spells OP against a "mundane" spellcaster, I mean how is that fair you're damaging my magicka! I'm out of potions you puffed up ignora-! You know nothing of our suffering!

Any how, I think that's enough for a introductiory lollygagging.
Let's go the specifics, how does this compare to other mods that makes magicka not regen?

The Answer is SPID, with the power of SPID I was able to create a magic affinity system for races by throwing a few keywords at the races and giving a low chance of a mortal to regenerate magicka. I have created magical racisim and an unequal distrubution of power out of the happy go lucky utopian "everyone can do magic in our setting" skyrim. I am litterally like the angry man with a hilariously small moustache that looks like a style how you would trim "the bush".

Simple yet effective, it doesn't throw magic out of the window as everyone with magicka can still throw some spells but they are on borrowed time. I intend to futher this in the future by hampering the affected races ability to do magic.

Features:

-Magicka regeneration of the Races: Imperial, Redguard, Khajiit, Argonian and Nord removed by a racial ability to ensure same conditions to player as NPC's as SPID does not distribute stuff to player based on my tests. This is a static effect instead of a dynamic chance based system added to npc's I'm afraid, I'm no scripter and this is my first mod. This means player charicters of these races cannot regenerate magicka. We'll get back to this in a bit.

-Npc's are divided as Magicans and Non-Magicans by a few keywords and given an ability, Magicans get one that negates the magicka regen restriction and can regenerate magicka, Non-magicans get the opposite treatment, Bretons and Orcs stand out in this category as they are races that does not have the innate regen inhibition, Bretons have a 35% chance of being magically gifted while other races only get a 3% chance. Daedra, Creatures , Dragons and Vampires get a pass on this segregation. Elven races have a 99% chance to be magically gifted. PC vampires should not get the debuff.

-Magically ungifted are distributed magicka potions. Some factions have higher distrubtion than others. Beggars have been excluded, I won't forbid you from gifting them some.

-A way for players to cure their regeneration issue has been added. You have been warned.

-Immersive? I'll let you decide. Probably not lore friendly.

Iron as a material is now bane to all spellcasters who wield it and get hit by it.
iron now drains magicka from anyone
Weakness to Iron added as a racial feature to Elves, Daedra, Spriggans, Hagravens and some other races added in base game I
felt magical in nature, they take increased magicka damage as well as health damage from iron even just by wielding it.
Undead are exluded as they have silver weakness, still iron will drain their magicka.

Future Plans:

-Futher dread upon spellcasters and spellslinging playerbase and make them like it and beg for more.
-Diss the elves, weakness to iron sounds fun.
-Try to bring a low magic setting to skyrim without burning the compatability of the mod to the ground by the awesome power of SPID. SPID.
-Make others understand the awesome power of SPID, your imagination, creation kit and the sky is the limit. SPID.

Configurable Real Names for SSE

Removes those pesky generic npcs with a title "mage", now Tom the Bandit is just a robed hermit in the hills who is something of a mage himself.

Smart NPC Potions - Enemies Use Potions and Poisons
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/40102
A soft requirement in a way, makes darn sure npcs use the potions I have generously distrubuted.

Spell research:

For the scolarly out there, immersive and time consuming way to learn spells, has many many patches and someone made a semi-auto patcher that I don't know how to use, still an awesome addition to any cultured genteel.

Great many, special thanks from me, a first time mod publisher to:

powerofthree
, for SPID. It genuenly is an amasing and universal tool to edit the game, as I joked before the sky is the limit and who knows what can be made possible with this in the future? A compatible non inersive way to alter leveled lists etc? It already can. powerofthree, you have my utomst gratitude that a modding newbie like me can edit the game in a simple and noninvasive way. Merely looking a what your Distribution framework can do makes my mind wild with ideas what can and could be done in such an easy way.

All the other modders, since 11.11.11 I have played the game irregulary but always, always with mods you have my thanks to let me tweak my game to my liking and I hope this mod will let others do the same to their game. It's what makes this game special, no matter the edition. 11 years and this game is still amazing thanks to you people.

Of course Bethesda ( i the name correctly in one go, now that shows in this era that you appreciate them), I started playing their games since oblivion where I got to modding my game with mods from the modding creators. Now I can't fathom playing most games without the ability to tweak every part of a game I don't like or feel could be improved upon. Has this made me picky? Prehaps, but it's so enjoyable that I spend more time browsing and downloading than playing. Thanks for creating this game and I hope many more like it.

Nexus Staff, for nexus obiously. Cheers! My stable fix of mods since forever and will probably be forever, I might occasionally be unfaitful to you and go for an asian forum to raid skimpy lingerie mods for my body type mod etc. but you'll always be my number one *smooch*

All hail SPID.
