Dunmer are said to be able to call upon the wrath of their ancestors in combat. Now, they can do so quite literally.

What does this mod do?

This mod adds a unique passive to all Dunmer in the game - the ability to call upon their ancestors for help if the battle is not going well. Depending on their own strength, Dunmer may invoke one of four ghosts to aid them in battle.

What are the specifics?

All Dunmer, excluding Vampires, now have a chance based on their level to receive a unique passive Called "Ancestral Intervention". This passive gives them a variable chance, based on their level, to summon an  ancestor.  Each ancestor has a unique appearance & a unique combat style. More specifically, here are the numerical values:

  • (Level 1-10: 25%)       (Level 1- 10: 10%)        (Level 1-10: Forgotten Ancestor)       (Forgotten Ancestor - One Handed warrior)
  • (Level 11 - 20: 50%)   (Level 11 - 20: 15%)    (Level 11 - 20: Awakened Ancestor)  (Awakened Ancestor - Markswoman)
  • (Level 21 - 25: 75%)   (Level 21 - 25: 20%)    (Level 21 - 25: Honored Ancestor)     (Honored Ancestor - Mage)
  • (Level 22+: 85%)         (Level 26+: 25%)          (Level 26+: Revered Ancestor).           (Revered Ancestor - Spellsword)

How do I install this?

  • Step 1: Install Address library for SKSE Plugins with your mod manager.
  • Step 2: Install Spell Perk Item Distributor with your mod manager.
  • Step 3: Install The Ancenstors Care with your mod manager. You're done!

What about compatibility and load order?

Perfectly compatible with everything! Load order does not matter. This is thanks to SPID.

Troubleshooting & Q&A

Q1: Help, this mod is not working!
A1: Most likely an error on your end. Make sure that SPID and Address library are both installed. Test on a new save. You may need to go through quite a few Dunmer if they are of a low level, so it's best to test with higher level enemies. You can use More Informative Console to make sure that they have the Perk, so you don't waste your time bonking them.

Q2: Does this work for the player?
A2: Not presently, no. It might be added in a future update though, if it gets requested enough (And I figure out how to do it without interfering with race mods)

Q3: I have concerns about balance. Will this make the game too difficult?
A3: No. The chance of it proccing is relatively low at low levels, and each dunmer with the perk can only summon an ancenstor ONCE. The ancenstor only sticks around for 30 seconds, but leaves if the summoner leaves combat or their health goes above 30%. Basically - as long as you're playing smart, you'll be more than fine.

A big thank you to powerofthree for their excellent Spell Perk Item Distributor, without which this mod would have been a compatibility nightmare, and significantly more boring to make.
Thank you to the xEdit team, without whom I would not be making mods today.
Thank you to the Arcane University Discord Server, for teaching me Papyrus and being super patient with my questions.
