About this mod

Hi all, this is the first mod I’ve ever made in the entire lifetime of TES 5 – Skyrim (10 years). I hope you find it to your liking.
An ancient metal, which can only be forged by you. Tap into your latent power to unlock the secrets of Ebony Damascus. (The first item from the entire collection of weapons and armor.

Read this first:
1) Due to a particular request, I decided to create a new esp which removes the extra perk added by this mod. You will still need to invest in the smithing perk tree, must have DragonArmor perk (which allows you to craft dragonbone items) unlocked, and must have smithing up to 100.
2) There are two main files in the download section, do not - in any case whatsoever - download and install both of the files at once. Use one at a time, depending on your load order. The file from the downloaded zip with the suffix "Extra Perk Removed" is free for all and doesn't require any patch. This file should be placed before any mod which changes the perk system of Skyrim.

The philosophy behind it:
As the last one “born to hunt dragons” (literal translation of Dov-ah-Kiin), or dragonborn as they say in Tamrielic, you are one of the most powerful beings to ever walk on land. Not only are you completely in tune with every school of magic, offense, and defense, but also have the unique power to steal the soul of a slain dragon. You Thu’um can blow everything away, and even fell a dragon bending its will. You write history as you walk the land of Skyrim while bards sing the song of your coming.
You excel at any given subject by spending enough time studying and practicing it, be it enchanting, alchemy, lockpicking, speechcraft, marksmanship, wielding weapons & armors, practicing magic, or smithing. Thus, it is fitting that you know about an ancient metal, lost to time. Your dragon blood, along with the memories of those before you, even the dragons themselves, has given you the ability to tap into the ancient knowledge to work this incredible metal, molding and forging it into powerful weapons and armors which only you can make. This is Ebony Damascus.

What comes packaged with this mod?
1) Ability to craft a special crossbow, only craftable by the player, made of Ebony Damascus metal. You get a new perk “Ebony Damascus Smith” to unlock under the smithing tree, which can only be unlocked once you have your smithing up to 100, along with all other major smithing perks unlocked. This crossbow is balanced but packs more punch than the vanilla dwarven enhanced crossbow, dealing 25 base damage. The balancing factor comes in the form of weight, as it weighs 27 kg/lbs (whatever suits you).
2) Optional compatibility patches are also available for those who use Ordinator – Perks of Skyrim mod, or Vokrii - Minimalistic Perks of Skyrim mod.
3) 2K textures :D (there is no need to make them 4k or 8/16k.2K works like a charm and is not heavily taxing on your GPU).

The mod and patch are tested with a load order of 200+ mods, with and without Ordinator, it works great.
Installation:
1) The best way to install: Download and install with Mod Organizer. Download and activate the patch.
2) Manual: Download and copy files in the Skyrim SE data folder. Download the patch and save it in the Skyrim SE data folder, then activate it in your mod organizer of choice. (Why though? Use MO2.)

Load Order:
1) If not using Ordinator or Vokrii: Place the main esp from the downloaded zip without the suffix "Extra Perk Removed" anywhere you want in your load order, but it must be placed above anything which changes the perk tree. Remember, this mod adds a new perk in the Smithing perk tree thus it may conflict with any other mod which changes the perk tree. A patch is needed for such mod, if so, please feel free to ask me to make one or make one yourself if you know how to. ?
OR: Download the main file with the suffix "Extra Perk Removed" and place it before any mod which overhauls the perk system of Skyrim.
2) If using Ordinator: Place the main esp above Ordinator in your load order and place the patch file below Ordinator.
3) If using Vokrii: Place the esp from the downloaded zip without the suffix "Extra Perk Removed" above Vokrii in your load order and place the patch file below Vokrii.

Requirements:
1) Dawnguard and Dragonborn DLCs are hard requirements when not using Ordinator mod. Bethesda has a rule, I don’t want to break it – Crossbows are not a part of the base game, they are a part of the DLC Dawnguard. If you don’t have it, the mod won’t work (I believe Skyrim SE comes in a bundle now, doesn’t it?). I have also used some stuff from Dragonborn DLC, so you need that one too. Hearthfire is meh!
2) Dawnguard, Dragonborn, Hearthfire, Ordinator, Vokrii, and Main file are hard
requirements for the patches to work. That’s how the patch is made :P

I hope you enjoy the mod as much as I enjoyed making it. Please feel free to endorse if you think this is a suitable item in your load order and in your game. Within a week I will start working on a new weapon and I’ll keep uploading weapons made in Ebony Damascus style until all base game weapons, such as axe, sword, bow, hammer, mace, dagger (all variants) are made. I’ll also add new types of weapons like Bowie Knife, Hatchet, etc. After weapons, I’ll expand into Ebony Damascus armor.

Credits where they are due:
EnaiSiaion for Vokrii - Minimalistic Perks of Skyrim and
Ordinator - Perks of Skyrim
BlockyQuilava for correcting my mistake in calling Damascus an alloy which it isn't. Changed "alloy" to "metal" in the description.
Clofas1 for porting the mod to Xbox. A link to the Xbox mirror can be found under the Mirrors tab. (their nexus page: Clofas1)
LoonaShadow for pointing out that the mod should be available to be used by NPCs and for removing the "player only" tag in the creation kit.
Bethesda for making the game, without which the mod would've been impossible and impractical.
