This mod works flawlessly. Fully voiced. Intonations in this mod's dialogues are perfect. Esbern and delphine have proper facial expressions with each dialogue lines. It feels like this mod is a skyrim original questline. Imma keep this forever in my modlist ❤️
Paarthurnax is the only being in TES that i can say is similar to Buddha or a Bodhisattva and like them, i do not think he will ever turn evil, in fact, he might be the only one who can show all beings to be better. He is basically the TES version of Kratos
no matter what i do the quest just won't advance after talking to paarthurnax. setstage mqpaarthurnax 75 doesn't help. nothing seems to be overwritting the mod in SSEedit except 'better quest objectives'
2024 here. thank you so much for this mod. I could not wait to tell Karen to shut the fk up.
Maybe one day someone will make a partysnacks companion mod. I managed to make a spliced one by swapping philrax something's model. and it worked! butt his name and dialog is wrong v.v
Thanks a lot for the absolutely necessary mod, I can not think of playing the main quest without it, I was playing a new collection and realized it didn't have it, so here I am once again to make sure I can tell delphine to STFU and do as I say
I also love the fact that the Esbern dialogue added by the mod gives me an immersive purpose to become a vampire even though my character is a goodie, so I'm just becoming a superpowerfull immortal vampire lord in case my buddy Paarthurnax snaps and decides to do some nasty shi like becoming The World Eater 2 lol
What I really like about this mod is that it feels realistic/believable and is very much... unbiased. The Paarthunax Quest was probably supposed to have some sort of meta meaning it that played on the player's natural desire to 100% the game: Will you live above the temptation to kill someone who has only proven himself to be your friend, ally and teacher, or will you give into you 'gamer instincts' and strike Paarthunax down for the Dragon Soul and that 1%. It's a flawed quest either way, but such a quest is probably inherently flawed. I'd always considered Delphine to embody the Blades's battle prowess while Esbern embodies their knowledge and lore, and how the two need one another as much as the Blades needs them as an organization so they can rebuild and perhaps bring together more survivors. But the flaws of the Paarthunax Quest counters something about that, I feel like, and it never really felt all that natural. Besides, by sparing Paarthunax and hypothetically heeding to the Dragonborn's decision to do so, shouldn't the prospect of Paarthunax grasping power while the Dragonborn is dead give the Blades a reason to get stronger instead of forcing him to make such a selfish decision for them?
*Spoilers* A number of people would make a spare Paarthunax mod that will paint Delphine as a wholly selfish, vengeful, hypocritical b&@*$ and use the dialogue of the Dragonborn as a way to vent their frustrations with her character. In this quest expansion mod for the Paarthunax Quest, you actually bother to talk to Delphine as an ally and somebody who undeniably helped you in her own way and was no small asset in your discovery on what the nature of a Dragonborn is. She continues to insist that Paarthunax must die, and you get more authoritative without being disrespectful while, of course, reminding Delphine that the Blades serve the wishes of the Dragonborn even if they think their wish may seem questionable. When she's convinced, you don't hear the response of a disrespectful meathead. She does heed reluctantly, yes, but not because you ordered her, rather because she is admittedly afraid. Who the hell wouldn't be? Suddenly learning that Alduin's right hand has been alive this whole time? It makes sense to act on the fear of seeing Paarthunax's old cruelty return. It's actually believable. Obviously, Delphine's reaction could be better, but it's hard to react rationally when you're scared of a Second Dragon War - an even that can only happen if the world is enslaved by Dragon overlords again.
After you convince Delphine, you speak with Esbern, who raises good points, but having already convinced Delphine, the Dragonborn understandably has a little patience from hearing the same song and dance a second time. You even speak in Dovahzul. What I like about talking to Esbern, though, is that you don't insult the old man. He has accumulated tons of knowledge on Dragons, the Blades and the Akaviri, and tons more after the discovery of Alduin's Wall. His fear is understandable, too, but he ultimately relents by deciding to trust your decision after you convince Delphine to trust you. After all, you have been with Paarthunax personally more than either of them. Surely choosing to spare him isn't a decision made lightly.
Ultimately, Paarthunax is old, and after meditating so long on the Throat of the World, the itch that is his occasional temptation to return to his nature seems highly unlikely to truly ever be scratched. They say he may decide to take Alduin's place and conquer the world again, but in all these something-thousand years, he consciously chose to live in seclusion and meditation instead, and stuck with this even after Alduin's returned. This along with Paarthunax's decision to help Man overthrow their Dragon overlords by teaching them to use the Thu'um, like the Dovah, I think it's safe to say he has earned his redemption. If anything, the Way of the Voice under Paarthunax's leadership will give the Dragons a second chance at life, any who are willing to heed that peaceful Thu'um of his.
Just kidding; lots of mods have more downloads than views. On the one hand, the download number you're looking at means total downloads, so if the mod has several files or if the user downloads it several times, there will be more downloads than views. But on the other hand, and this is likely the case here, the mod has been added to collections or wabbajack modlists. The users dont visit the mod page directly, they download it as a pack together with hundreds of other mods via their mod organizer tool of choice.
Also, if you check the other stats, there are far less unique downloads, confirming that people update and download the mod a second or third or more times. This mod is definitely worth keeping up to date and it's why I'm here again, even though if you were to check my profile, I ported a decent Paarthurnax mod some years ago. While it is still available to download, I point everyone to come here as this mod supersedes it. That's just good progress.
PS I'm not sure there are enough mods to cover all my shortcomings ;-)

Do not do it manually, you'll come to regret it pretty fast. Talking from experience...
