Overview

The following changes have been made to the Dragonbone Ebonsteel Armor plugin:

• The armor rating of the armor pieces is now equal to that of Dragonplate armor in MLU
• The weight of the armor pieces is now equal to that of Dragonplate armor in MLU
• The value of the armor pieces is now roughly 10% higher than that of Dragonplate armor in MLU
• The armor requires more materials to create, so that the recipes are similar to those of Dragonplate armor in MLU
  (Dragonbone Ebonsteel armor still requires more ebony to create than regular Dragonplate armor)
• The armor can only be created at the Skyforge, just like armor of Ebony and higher quality in MLU
  

This patch does not distribute the armor anywhere as loot; it is still only obtainable by crafting.


Questions and answers

Q: Why doesn't the Dragonbone Ebonsteel armor have a higher armor rating than Dragonplate armor? According to the mod page of Dragonbone Ebonsteel Armor, it is supposed to be more protective than Dragonplate armor.
A: Two reasons, 1. Since MLU adds the perk Ebony Smithing as a requirement for creating Dragonplate armor, Dragonbone Ebonsteel and Dragonplate armor require the same skill set to create. To make one armor set more powerful than the other would leave the player with little reasons to craft the weaker one. 2. It would interfere with the balance that MLU has created. There is supposed to be a sizable gap in power between Dragonplate and Daedric armor. If that gap is filled by another armor set, Daedric armor would seem less impressive in comparison.

Q: Why is the weight of Dragonbone Ebonsteel armor equal to that of Dragonplate armor in MLU? It is heavier compared to vanilla Dragonplate armor.
A: Compared to vanilla, it is also stronger. I didn't see any balance reasons to change its weight.

Q: Why is Dragonbone Ebonsteel amor more valuable than Dragonplate armor?
A: The mod page of Dragonbone Ebonsteel Armor describes the armor as a show of expert craftsmanship, requiring even more skill to create than Dragonplate or Dragonscale armor. For this reason, and because item value doesn't make an item more powerful, I thought it was appropriate to increase the value of the armor compared to Dragonplate armor.

Q: What reasons are left to craft Dragonplate armor instead of Dragonbone Ebonsteel?
A: Because both sets have been made equally powerful, it comes down to personal preference. Depending on which materials you have on hand, Dragonplate armor may still be easier to create. Dragonplate armor requires more dragon materials, while Dragonbone Ebonsteel armor requires more ebony.
