About this mod

A custom version of the Alternate Tomes zEdit patch that puts the Spell Research archetypes in the description of the spell rather than the contents of the book, for compatibility with mods like Spell Tutor.

Hello!

This is a zedit patcher based on the one made by gutieashl that I made for my Skyrim VR modlist, however I am sharing it here for the use of the community (you can use this for SE as well, don't worry). It also changes the way it's written to make it shorter (to counter the vanilla item card text scaling a bit), provide a bit more flavour and less kindergarten-style highlighting since presumably you learn this by skimming through the tome or knowing the spell you've learned.

For example
Flames
Original alternate tomes patch:
A NOVICE spell of the DESTRUCTION school, cast through immense CONCENTRATION. This spell is fired where AIMED. Elements of FIRE.

My take:
A Concentration-based spell of the Destruction school that is cast on another. It manipulates Fire.

This only works for tomes that are affected by Spell Research patches, tomes which do not have a Spell Research patch, or which have an error in the scripts (there are a few) will not be patched.

Requirements
- zEdit and the UPF (unifiedPatchingFramework; comes with zEdit)
- This requires for you to have the source import script files (.psc) for the mod you want to patch, which should be placed in scripts/source.
- In some cases the Spell Research patch that contains the scripts doesn't provide the source files, in such cases you will need to decompile the scripts using Champollion.
- Not a requirement, but MoreHUD Inventory Edition is highly recommended to fix the item card scaling, you'll want this for long spells.

Usage
- Enter the plugin names and corresponding script names in the Manage Patchers Modal in zEdit. They need to be delineated with a semicolon with no spaces. 1 plugin/script combo per line.
e.g.
Skyrim.esm;_SR_ImportSkyrim.psc
Dawnguard.esm;_SR_ImportDawnguard.psc
Dragonborn.esm;_SR_ImportDragonborn.psc
Inigo.esp;SpellResearchInigo.psc

Compatibility
Should be compatible with everything, it will pull changes through from the winning override for affected records.
You should be able to install/uninstall mid playthrough.
You can also convert it to ESP-FE (ESL) by checking the ESL flag in xEdit/zEdit. It only overrides records.

How does it work?
It generates a unique effect for each spell that details the spell archetypes then adds that effect to the spells. As a result, you'll see spell archetypes both on the spell tomes and in your spell window (making that SR spell that observes the archetypes of your equipped spell obsolete).

Future plans
- Make the description more flavourful and less clear cut
- Convert to synthesis patcher
