Version 1.99 Ultimate is now available! It has updated town, dungeon, and dragon combat music.

    - Town themes are more diverse with more equalized repeats between songs.
    - Dungeon music is smoother without the heavy bass drop in one of the dungeon tracks.
(several hip hop tracks were purged from the playlist, no love for the token red guard? :/)
    - Dragon and boss combat music were amplified and volume balanced.

+ Taking heed of the voices that cried out in the wilderness, I greatly reduced the influence of jazz and electric bass from earlier version.
Such genres are known for their usage of tritone chords, aka, "the devil's interval"...
(The Daedric disharmony is now performed by classical pianos, violins, and pipes... this time like a proper arch-villain...)

If you downloaded before October 27th, young Acolytes, download again for the ultimate version.

I've been enjoying this. It has some overlap with Fantasy Soundtrack Project, especially combat music. It also sometimes suddenly feels like I'm playing Witcher or Diablo, but those are nice tracks.

The only weird thing is some really dramatic music came up while I was exploring outdoors, for no real reason. Then I got into combat and both the combat music and the unnecessarily dramatic music played at once.

yea, that's a rare glitch from the game where some monster types in proximity launch combat music, while certain others trigger the normal music. It's caused by some sort of skill effect or something, so they end up playing together, lol. It should not happen often, only in some rare specific scenarios.

Yeah I've noticed such things with other music mods.

I also noticed that the imperial music from FFVI played while I was in Solitude. I think this played because it's called "imperial" but if you've played FFVI you know that it's a somewhat somber music meant to convey cities being under occupation by a brutal military. It doesn't fit very well in Solitude, in my view.

I believe that track plays during an imperial function and it's a "vs boss" tune, not necessarily in Solitude, :P
which simply might have occurred for you in-game when a dragon appeared there.

Though if you think about it, Solitude being a main Imperial base, executing inside, battling dragon outside,
with a queen whose king got killed in combat, etc... so such theme appearing there should be suiting, lmao.

      Thanks, stay blessed in enthusiasm!
I sensed it was suitable for these times of need. I merely dabbled in repenting for all my sins, but one.

Meanwhile, the battles are towards the North, not South.

Ah updated just in time for me to begin yet another playthrough, sounds amazing!

Edit: I've disabled it for now as I share pretty much the same views as invinoveritas99 - maybe I could pick and mix tracks from various mods using xEdit? Though I would need to somehow figure out what each track sounds like (I don't think there's a way to simply play the ones included through VLC or something like that, is there?).

But yeah I love the 'natural' sounding music in here, vocals, bagpipes, etc but the synthetic stuff is just a bit off-putting for me, though I can definitely see the appeal and did appreciate it during combat. Maybe I just need the right overhaul mods to make the game feel a little more sci-fi or something? lol

Interesting... Those things I wouldn't know, maybe you just got some bad RNG sweetrolls.
(the synthetic elements are much much less than the natural sounds,
and they're only there to represent the Dwemer influence in Skyrim...)

Yeah it triggered every time I entered combat, which is the way from Riverwood to about halfway through Bleak Falls Barrow. Maybe OBIS conflicts with it somehow? I do like the synthetic music but it sorta clashes with the rest of it for me. Maybe I did just get bad RNG lol

someone made a.. compatibility patch for this to work with Yggdrasil music and sound effects. It's on the front page in Requirements.
that could be a reason you're having issues...

Music is a very subjective thing. With that said, some of the music in this mod is awesome (one track has bagpipes and somehow manages to fit right in to Skyrim) and I liked the gregorian chanting tracks (and don't agree with the person below who said it didn't fit), some is OK, while other tracks are jarringly awful - electric bass guitar lines and two which I swear sound like lounge music with jazz piano?

I don't want to be negative - it's a free mod and I think it's fantastic you've made it, and I think this compilation definitely has potential based on the good tracks which are in there, but I suggest it needs another good edit and purging some of the clearly ill-suited tracks.

Previously, a selection of... dubstep and hiphop tracks were purged, reducing the redguard and orcish population...
and currently, one person enjoys the imperial gregorian chants, while another doesn't... the same could be said about the jazz selection. ;O
(I believe it has to do with the present scenery in-game when RNG selects a song... whether it fits the moment, or momentarily interrupts.)

The dark elves... have suffered nord discrimination in Windhelm for as long as we know,
their outlandish jazz might strike some strange chords, for their daedric tones aren't always easy on the ears...
but some might find it intriguing.

Your post is delicately written and a nice suggestion, I appreciate that!
I'm occupied in XCOM 2 at the moment, when I return to Skyrim, I'll see what could be altered... ;[

So I made a new version with those things in mind.
      And the results were...

      • one dungeon track hurled into the earth, distorted from dead ambience into mourning palace piano...
      • all suspected rebels with RnB sounds were purged, supplanted by highly refined harpsonic serenades.
      • heavy jazz bass guitar in disguises fell from grace, subdued by impromtu version of "Nightfall in Middle Earth".
      • uncordinated hip-hop were tossed into the void, replaced by archaic waltz of the highest order.
      • jazz lounge music found to be Jedi treason, converted into proper daedric harmonies, and zapped by force lightning...
        Fatality.

Video preview can be seen on the first page.

Sorry, I don't quite get the reference. Also, FLAC & Wav are the same quality, just flac is smaller size as it's codec uses closer to VBR as apposed to .wav's CBR. So, when will we find out the name of that explore reach 17 song? haha

S.S.I is not compatible with any other music mod that alters the in-game music.
On the other hand, It is naturally compatible with the mods that add sound effects to the game.

The reason I asked is Mods like Immersive music, Celtic Music in Skyrim and so on need patches for those mods. and when Looking in xEdit There is a patch that's needed and so someone made a patch for Immersive Music and ELE because of that.

This mod is fairly new so,
maybe in the future there would be patches out there, for any mod would ever need it.

I'm getting you wanted diversity in the music but because of the randomness factor in the way the music is played this sounds diverse as often as it sounds schizophrenic :P Just my two cents

Also new agey vocalizations and gregorian chants feel kind of off in Skyrim

Yeah, perhaps 'schizophrenic' is indeed the word...

      With the multitude of gods and deities with multiple personalities breathing down the neck of the dragonborn; whom if not a Nord, an Imperial, is a cat or a reptile... the music manifested itself as a reflection and developed a life on its own... D;

A land torn between two sides with diverse psychopaths NEVER SHOULD HAVE COME HERE givin' you endless quests... never meant for the tunes to be so dualistic, they... they... independently came out bipolar, one after another. >.<
