Version 1.70
- Hello fellow bards! Safe to update mid-game :)
- Added 15 new songs (Thanks to the artists that allowed me their use - Full list of artists will be updated shortly!)
- Songs have been added to the categories with the fewest songs. This is so you have even more variety while on your bard journey. We've got good songs, bad songs, duos... a bit of everything! Enjoy the new content :)
- Bug fix: There was still a rare case where it was possible for quest instruments to break during performances. You just can't help yourself, can you. This should make it 100% impossible.
- That's the changelog for today. I hope you learn lots of new skills in this 2024! Maybe pick up an instrument? I promise not to boo you! I'll be one of those kind NPCs that say "Not bad! Keep at it !"
-
Version 1.64
- Small changes. Safe to update mid-game.
- This mod now adds support for "Description Framework". Meaning if you have that framework installed, instruments will show a description explaining what they do. Link to Description Framework: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/105799
- Adds support for unequipping torch items that are not torches (Say what now!) Thanks to lilebonymace for the tweak.
- If you have True Directional Momevent installed, playing the instruments will temporarily stop headtracking. This is done to make sure the animations look good and aligned to your characters head.
-
Version 1.63
- Safe to update mid-game. Tiny update.
- Figured out why sometimes the bad or good reactions would get stuck. This happened if you exited playing music too fast by activating something or jumping. Solved now!
-
Version 1.62
- Small update. Safe to update mid-game.
- Custom bard teacher reactions: when you pay for musical lessons, you will now get a mini fun sound effect as part of the lesson.
- Fixed the fadeout effect of the teaching reactions to look more natural.
- Reduced size of the mod (by replacing wavs by fuz and swm files)
- Have fun with SGT! Don't forget to stay hydrated this Summer <3.
-
Version 1.61
- Small update. Safe to update mid-game.
- This update includes a fix for people experiencing your character playing music at random times. Shoutout to Project Skyrim and Charolas for their help with this one.
- This update should also get rid of a rare situation where you couldn't play instruments as the game thought you were still performing. How it works now: when equipping an instrument, the old performance (if stuck or whatever) stops and everything resets to 0, then you start your new performance.
- For mod authors and patchers: All changes from this update are in "_Talent_Givespell.psc", all the other files remain the same as 1.60.
-
Version 1.60
- *Skyrim's Got Talent - 1.60 Update (WORLD TOUR EDITION)*
- See all the changes over here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EM4gQPF1_pQ
- Around 40 new reactions. Yep! This time including reactions for characters with unique voices: Vex, Draugr, Astrid, Delphine, Esbern, Ancano, Cicero, Galmar, Kodlak...
- Dancer's Flute can now be played. Instead of applauding, some people will do a silly dance when listening to you play this special flute... but only if you're good enough.
- There's a new (exciting) optional download that allows you to move while playing the instrument. You gain mobility (duh) but you lose the swaying from side to side from the original animations. Plugin is flagged as ESL. Requirements: DAR + AnimObject Swapper
- Please, note: With enabled movement comes the possibility of breaking the animation in many ways. Like for example... falling to water, ragdolling, etc. Music will continue playing after you break the animation, so use the optional feature responsibly.
- Animal Reactions: Dogs, Wolves, Huskies, Horses and Cows now react to the lower sets of skill. They will hate your music and let you know :(
- Bruma patch has been updated to work with the changes in 1.60.
- Bug fixes: CREEPY MANNEQUINS: I thought I removed this, but it should be fixed for good now: No Mannequins will tip you for your performance. Creepy AF, thank you no thank you mannequin, go back to being dead.
- Bug fixes: LURBUK, STOP BREAKING THE GAME: It was possible to get "infinite negative comments" after visiting the inn at Morthal and listening to Lurbuk sing (Lol). Should be fixed now.
- Bug fixes: DELAYED MUSIC: Before, trying to play music while sitting would make you play once you stand up. No longer the case
-
Version 1.50
- Main things are covered in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U5krHWlXUzA
- NEW FEATURES & TWEAKS
- Pretty big update! Safe to update mid-game :)
- NPCs will now react to the middle awkward stage, with encouraging comments, but sometimes there will be some mixed reactions too. That is the stage that had no reactions before.
- Fellow bards have certain special reactions to you / your music.
- Around 80 new lines in total.
- Lurbuk gets... new stuff. I did not edit the vanilla quest to avoid compatibility issues, so he will continue being OK at playing music. However, now he will also sing sometimes. Prepare to laugh. Also, NPCs will react to his singing.
- 12 new songs. Mostly in the lower stages, to add more variety, but there's a bit of everything. Shoutout to the new amazing artists being featured in this update:
* Oregano Namikaze and their recorder: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCDY46nW32z3EA6_78bJ3Sgw
* Fellow Skyrim modder, cool person all-around and awesome musician Dazz: https://dazzofjazz.bandcamp.com/fan-club
* Solomonisms and his ACTUAL lute. How cool is that? https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCHVs7dv-JLIH7KSAl6dnkog
Make sure to check these people out and send them some love! They deserve it :) - Made each stage a bit longer, meaning you will need to play 3 or 4 extra songs to advance to the next stage. Why? So experience a sense of pride and accomplishment when you make it!
- In a similar vein, before this update you would always get at least 1 point of experience after a song. Now you have the chance of getting 0 points, if you're "tired" (meaning: under the influence of a musical debuff). This way you cannot spam songs until you're a professional, but must rest in between.
- Optional File: Very light support for Bruma: This ESL plugin enables a couple of negative reactions in Bruma. Nothing amazing, the original patch had around 30 reactions, but unfortunately most of them were not recorded or implemented yet by the Beyond Skyrim Bruma team, so it's been reduced a lot. There are like 4 or 5 possible reactions in Bruma with this installed. Also, during certain bard scene in a certain inn, people will react too.
- Optional File: Fixed the animation with the flute not aligning well with the mouth, resulting in a magic flute that sounds without putting it in the mouth... or even worse, your character putting the flute in their nose. Fix can be found here: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/69609
- BUG FIXES
- Wounded soldiers (Whiterun Temple or from Civil War camps) do not just automatically stand up to applaud. I'm sorry, your music is not THAT good.
- When doing duos, followers carrying a shield would not perform the instrument animations and would just stand there awkwardly. The shield now gets removed automatically and the animations start playing as normal.
- You could play two instruments at the same time before. I never thought of adding a check for this cause like, why would anyone ever try this. Well, silly me. Should be fixed now.
- There was a chance to get a notification that you're getting a debuff, but not actually get any. This is now fixed.
- Audience quest was missing a fragment file. Nothing big. Added the source files for whatever was missing too.
-
Version 1.23
- After testing the mod for a while, I realized progress was way too slow. Headaches happen too often at the beginning, which means you might even lose musical points after a performance. That's not a great gaming experience. Version 1.23 makes it so you might only gain progress after a performance, and never LOSE progress. The number of "musical points" each performance gives you will depend on the same values as before (Speech, Rested Bonus, Bard College...) but you will only ever improve. Keep at it, my dear bards <3
-
Version 1.22
- This version adds an extra condition to one of the scripts. Some people were experiencing instruments playing on their own (spooky!), this is meant to help with that. It was quite the rare bug since not many people complained about this and I was never able to replicate it, but in theory this update should help with that.
If you were not experiencing this bug, no need to update.

Version 1.21
- 1.21 mini update: Safe to update mid-game.
Soothing music: Once you reach the maximum level in an instrument (which should take you quite some time to achieve), music will be able to calm animals. The effect lasts 30 secs and nearby animals that listened will not attack you during or after the performance, unless you attack them first. I do not consider this OP in any way since it's a weakened version of the first word of the shout "Kyne's Peace". Obviously it's not super realistic, but animals do react to music IRL. It's also fully optional and you only unlock it at the maximum music level as an easter-egg reward, so yeah, might be a funny feature to add more unique stories to your game :)
If you didn't check the changelog for version 1.2, please do so now. I added 50 new songs, duets and some other features. Have fun, stay safe!

Version 1.2
- Skyrim's Got Talent 1.2 - "It Takes Two" Update (June 19th 2021)
Watch video for a visual demonstration of this update: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P-6pKsAtDw8
• Biggest change: DUOS! If you are good enough (at least 65/100 bard knowledge points), you can talk to bards or any NPC carrying an instrument to start playing together. Please, mind that the NPC must be standing for this to work, and if they are currently doing something else, the animation might fail (no big deal, just cancel pressing E as usual and try again). There's no "skill" system for followers, so even Lydia can be your side-kick when it comes to performing music. Roleplaying wise, you can say Lydia has been taking classes on the side, or she's learned by looking at you perform... or just don't give her an instrument, and the option will never show up in dialogue.
• Let the music flow! Around 50 new songs (All levels, duos, etc.)
• Adjusted sound for some songs that were too loud/quiet
• If you start playing music while in first person, the camera will return you to first person after performing
• ALLGUD as separate patch + misc favourite compatibility: My method of detecting ALLGUD without a patch was causing some trouble with some mods like (favourite misc items) and it required me to pause ALLGUD detection during certain quest stages. This was a bit too much hassle for my taste, so I've implemented a new way to detect and hide instruments on your character via ALLGUD. This however requires a small ESL patch. This patch is optional, the only thing it does is hide your instruments on display while you're playing music.

Version 1.1
- 1.11- Safe to update mid-playthrough
(Small bug fixes)
• The citizens from Bruma were very enthusiastic about your music, so much that they continue applauding for hours in some rare instances (lol). There's now a failsafe that forces the scene to end after the performance no matter what.
• Playing with a torch equipped would play no animation. Now, the player will remove the torch before starting to play.
• Due to the Allgud compatibility update, mod would accidentally change the name of the special instruments from the bards college (the one's you're asked to retrieve) if you played them. For example: From "Pantea's Flute" to just "Flute". This was in no way quest-breaking (you can still give the instrument back and complete the quest, even after the item has changed its name, so not a big deal)... but I can imagine this was going to cause heart attacks for a couple of you, so I temporarily disable the ALLGud compatibility when you reach that stage of the bardcollegequest for the specific instrument you have in your inventory. Once you give the item back, Allgud compatibility returns back to normal. Even if you don't use allgud, this is still relevant for you: Every time you play an instrument and you have terrible musical knowledge, there's a tiny chance that you break the instrument. You could in theory break Pantea's Flute for example... which is not nice. The quest still works and you can complete it, but it's funny. Anyway, you won't be able to break flutes as long as you have that special flute in your inventory. Same goes for the other instruments. Kind of a cheat, but whatever, the breaking of instruments is just a fun easter egg anyway to make you laugh, not a proper game mechanic.
1.10- Safe to update mid-playthrough
•6 New Flute Songs: thanks to the amazing Tine Sylkie (Check her channel, you won't regret it!). These are all pro songs, but please: if you can play an instrument IRL (especially if you can play it terribly) we need more terrible songs. Don't be shy, reach out. It'll be fun and it's just 34 seconds :)
• BOOOOOOOing! Yes, you will now get literally booooed. Using the sound from the Solitude execution, people will now boo you if you are terrible. (At least you get to keep your head, unless poor old Roggvir)
• 9 new positive interactions. Some nice ones like "I could listen to her play all day", "Mara smiles upon us this day!" or "You and I should spend some time together" (sexy voice).
• 9 new negative interactions. They're all super funny, hope I can get a laugh out of you. "Please, stop! I'll pay! Just stop!", "I just can't... take the pain... one second longer...", "I think you need practice", "Stop, in the name of the Jarl!", "Is this punishment for my past? Is it Mara's will to torment me so?", "Look at that fool!", and of course: "BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"
• ALLGUD compatibility: Allgud has this amazing feature that lets you carry your instruments on your back. This is great for a bard playthrough, however: the instruments would be displayed both in your hands (when playing) and on your back. I've made it so they disappear from your back as soon as you start playing, and return to being displayed after you finish.
• USSEP carry over: One of the flutes didn't have the changes from Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch, this is now fixed.
• No Musical Bonus XP Bug: There was a bug that didn't make the bonuses (Being rested, finishing the bard college, etc.) count towards your XP, so it was just the base XP. This is now fixed.
• Speech bonus: I felt musical XP progress was too slow and speech is always such a forgotten skill... so I added a subtle small bonus to the musical XP based on your total speechcraft. The higher your speechcraft level, the faster you will learn music.
• Interesting NPCs: Not part of the changelog but still relevant: If using Interesting NPCs, your game might crash when you ask a bard to perform with you. This is unrelated to my mod, it happens with or without it. The solution seems to be using the loose files from 3DNPC, as opposed to the BSA files. It also seems safe to just unpack the BSA yourself, as that's what I did and it's working fine.
