Alternate Starting Scenarios None of those Options will handhold you. If you want to be an Inn's Regular you will be an Inn's Regular and if you want to start Shipwrecked, you will start Shipwrecked, in a ship, that got wrecked, under water and I will not save you from drowning. I put large effort into the attempt to make every start feel at least somewhat unique, avoiding of making every start just another iteration of "spawn somewhere in the world with random gear" Until you want to start the Intro, Helgen will be an everyday town that you can go to, sell your junk, and move on, there should be nothing in this mod forcing you to start the Intro, at least not in the Base Frame
AP natively offers a total of 45 different Starting Scenarios divided in 12 main categories + multiple random Options:
Default Starting the Game without a Quest. This will be chosen if you didnt talk to the Dragon or the Quest selected in the Menu is invalid (doesnt exist)
Regular at an Inn Start the Game in an Inn somewhere in Skyrim or Solstheim (17 Inns)
From Oversea Start the Game in a random Port in Skyrim or Solstheim (4 Ports: Solitude, Dawnstar, Windhelm & Raven Rock)
A wanted Criminal Start the Game somewhere in the Wilderness (4 Locations) with a random Bounty in up to 5 Holds
Left for Dead Start the Game somewhere in the Wilderness (3 Locations) with barely any HP and a special Disease that heavily restricts your combat capabilities
Shipwrecked Start the Game in a custom Minidungeon underwater. Explore the sinking shipwreck and get to the surface
I live in my own house Start the Game in your own house (4 Vanilla Playerhomes)
Part of a Vampire Clan Start the Game as a Vampire (4 Vampire Lairs)
Member of the Forsworn Start in Druadach Redoubt as Member of a Forsworn Tribe
Hunt in Hircines Name Start the Game as aWerewolf in Falkreaths Forests during the Night
Part of a Guild Start the Game as Member of one of Skyrims Guild (4 Guilds, Volkihar & Dawnguard not supported currently)
The Dragonborn Skip the first Mainquests and start near Ivarstead, on your way to the Greybeards
The Game doesn't start/I have an infinite Loading Screen when clicking on "New Game" Make sure you have no other Alternate Start mods installed beside Alternate Perspective
The Messenger/Matlara doesn't have any Dialogue Ensure Alternate Perspective loads at the bottom of your Load-Order
In the Starting Cell, when talking to the Messenger, no menu appears You are missing requirements. The Menu requires PapyrusUtil and UIExtension to function. Make sure those are installed for the correct Version of your game and that they aren't being overwritten by other mods
After enabling the Intro and sleeping in Helgens Bed, my game becomes stuck You are missing requirements. This only happens when you don't have the for your game correct version of Fuz Ro D-oh installed. If, for whatever reason, you are unable to use Fuz, type "epc" into the console, and leave the inn. Ignore the NPC which are stuck in a Scene due to the absence of Fuz. Check the changelog at the bottom of Fuz's modpage to see which version is the 'correct' one for your game
Matlara doesn't show me to my Bed The bed may still be rented even if Matlara does no show you to your room. If this is not the case, make sure nothing is overwriting changes Alternate Perspective makes to Helgen NPC
My game crashes when leaving Helgen Inn, after starting the Intro The most likely cause of this CTD here will be a NPC overhaul. When starting the Intro and leaving the Inn, the following NPC will be spawned into the world: Stormcloak, Imperial and Thalmor Soldiers, Ulfric, Tullius, Elenwen, Hadvar and Ralof. Make sure the game is able to properly load them in
The Carriages are glitching out Carriage are one-time-only, if you started the Intro and reload to a save before you started the intro, the carriages are very likely to glitch out if you trigger the Intro again without first restarting your game. This is a Vanilla limitation. There is a reason why even with AP installed, the game saves when all Carriages came to a halt Your game lagging or mods editing the area around Helgen (where the carts are being spawned) might also be causing this. If you cannot resolve this issue, remember that the Messenger is idling behind Helgen Inn and talking to him offers you the option to skip Cart Ride and start the Intro inside the Keep
During the Intro, when Alduin is supposed to land, he flies circles around the watchtower/sits on the tower without doing anything This is a bug in the Vanilla Game which can happen at random. Usually this will correct itself within one minute of waiting. If the Intro still does not progress, type the following into your console line by line: "setstage mq101 120"; "setstage mq101 130"; "setstage mq101 140" This should force the Intro to progress
During the Intro, I followed Ralof into the Watchtower but Alduin does not break the Wall to jump through This is a bug in the Vanilla Game which can happen at random. If you encounter this, open the console: Click on the part of the wall which is normally being broken by Alduin and type "disable" to break the wall manually OR type "tcl" and clip through it
Cool mod, but my HUD disappears when I walk out into Helgen from the first inn. I didn't start any quests yet. Using SkyHUD. The bug reports mention TrueHUD, so is it just custom HUDs in general?
TrueHUD has a bug that causes it to glitch out when SetCartHUD (a vanilla papyrus function) is being called. Nothing to do with me, it happens in the vanilla intro (unmodded) as well and likely any other mod/place in the game where this function is being used
Fantastic starting mod, I didn't realize how impactful it would be for me to see Helgen before Alduin. One question though, is there a way to tweak what is available in the chests in the room? I was looking through the files and I couldn't find anything. I'm using this in a mod pack and I don't want it to start with quite so much
EDIT: nvm figured it out, had to get the SSEEdit thingy XD
no menu appears when talking to the Messenger, i think it's because of UIExtensions not working with the latest version of skyrim, did anyone found a workaround for the other scenarios or is it just me ?
i have UIExtensions and PapyrusUtil installed, I tried it with a clean game, I tried loading it a the bottom of my load order.
Mods that cause the custom menu to not pause the game causes the intro selection in AP to be unable to properly process your menu inputs for the starting quest
In general I dont recommend not pausing the game during the Custom Menu mod since you cannot predict which mods use that menu and when
Came back here to confirm that changing the Skyrim Souls .ini to "bCustomMenu = false" solved the very same issue for me. Thanks, @Skotnikov and @Scrabx3!
For anyone interested, I was having the same issue, no matter what I chose in the custom menu when talking to the dragon, opening the door out of the room and stepping into the "void" always put me in the inn in Helgen, no matter what I chose. Now with the menu paused, the choice (EDIT: I live in my own house > Whiterun) registers and crossing the door put me in Breezehome without any issues. Many thanks for the mod and the help! :)
Here to confirm the same issue and solution. With all due respect, humbly believe that this should be stated in the description or FAQ. (Sorry if it is & I missed it.)
Is there any way that we could possibly get a start to be an Argonian dock worker similar to ASLAL? I really liked that start as you could live in the argonian assemblage and had your own storage. Anyway, thank you for this mod! I really love it. It feels so nice not being the protagonist just yet and being able to see Helgen so alive is really charming.
Hi, I was wondering if I could have some information on how the anniversary content patch worked? I have a couple mods to rebalance/change the integration of CC content (ex., "Homes Under Warhammer" which adds extra requirements to the houses) and when running them alongside alternate perspective they don't seem to work anymore (despite checking for conflicts in xEdit and seeing none) - making me think something about the content of this patch's new ccafterchargenscript might be the culprit. These are mods that I've used in previous play throughs just fine. Is anyone familiar with this mod's patch and whether its compatible with mods that change AE content (such as Extended Cut Saints and Seducers etc)?
For everyone who have a problem with the latest version of Skyrim AE, just download the "CC Plugins Universal Start Fix" file from the "GATE TO SOVNGARDE (GTS) - Small Mods and Resources" mod (jayserpa) and everything will work normally.
