Wanted to mention for others - for the fast few years I've been mainly using a controller, as my hands can't mouse and keyboard like they always did. Getting old I guess. My hands get shaky.
The speeds while using a controller was driving me nuts - way too fast (non sprinting). Like I'd have to barely move the thumbsticks to get a speed that felt right. With this, it's hard to explain, but it feels worlds better. Like if I push the thumbsticks more to the extreme it's much more realistic. Before this I had been tweaking deadzones, scaling on my controller, etc to try and get it right.
Sorry if that didn't make any sense - long story short - if you are having speed issues and use a controller - try this mod.
Hi, I've been using this mod shortly after I got into modding, and earlier this month I got the Nolvus modlist. I downloaded this mod again because the walking was just way too slow so this helped get things back to normal for me.
However, since Nolvus is obviously a 2k + modlist, I found that this mod interferes with followers sprinting. They use the same movement mods and animations etc, but this mod reverts them back to vanilla movement, animations and speed. Is there a way to fix that because it's great to see the followers be able to run with you properly and maintain a close distance, but I don't want to get rid of this mod if I don't have to. The others just don't compare.
I agree, it is a bit of a pain if its a custom voiced follower as well, I am using Xelzaz and using NFF can conflict with his dialogue. I do hope there is a fix for this.
I use this mod for years at this point. I feel the vanilla walking is ridiculously slow and the running you're like Usain Bolt lol. This one strikes a great balance.
I was really loving this mod until I started playing a stealth build. NPCs now walk faster than I can run in stealth, making stealth attacks and pickpocketing nearly impossible on moving targets. If this mod just made you walk at the speed of NPCs and left everything else alone, it'd be perfect. But as it is, I can't use it. Sorry :\
If you're willing to do a small amount of legwork, all you have to do is a few steps:
1.) Install SSEEdit (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/164) and run it. 2.) When it gives that list of all your plugins, select only the "Skyrim.esm" and the "Realistic Humanoid Movement Speed SSE.esp" (assuming you have no other movement speed changing mods). 3.) Once you let it finish loading up, open this mod and then navigate to "Movement Type", it will show all the files changed by this mod. 4.) From there, you can click on "NPC_Sneaking_MT" (Form ID: 0003580B) and you'll see the values that vanilla Skyrim uses and the ones this mod uses. Simply dragging and dropping the vanilla values will work, or you can modify them yourself with a double click on the value you changed.
I personally recommend changing "Left Run", "Right Run", and "Forward" run to 160. That is still lower than before so no zipping around, but faster than this mod's walk speed so catching up to NPCs isn't impossible.
Yes, using xEdit it's rather simple. You can use this mod as a base. If you open the mod in xEdit you'll find the values, both the vanilla game and this mod's are loaded. Change the values to your liking however you want, save and try in game. The values are decently labelled, so you shouldn't have too much trouble figuring out what does what.
Thank you!) It worked for me, but I thought the animation speed would stay the same and not adjust. That's why I decided to install this mod..)) I wanted to tweak the movement speed to match the existing animations, as the running and walking speeds didn't look realistic with them)
I guessed, but the point is that the animation speed will also increase, I understand, and it still won't match the movement speed. I just thought that the animation speed would stay the same. That's why I was trying to adjust the running speed, so that the running animation I set would match the running speed. I hope I have described it correctly)
Can we not have the player just match the npc's original walking speed? Sure i walk faster now, but npc's look like they're always in a rush and it's a little unsettling watching them zoom around
I have this issue I didn't know how it started, but all humanoid npc's walking animation speed and actual moving speed doesn't match, looks like they are running two times faster than they're supposed to be, I am not blaming this mod because it did work for me and the problem only started yesterday, So I'm just wondering if anyone else alse also had this problem, and even more lucklily, solved this problem. Any help?
Thank you, thank you, thank you! The new Taliesin follower mod recently convinced me to finally switch to SE. After years of playing LE with the original mod the vanilla movement speed is unplayable! I felt like I was sprinting around the room at a run. Thank you so much for taking the time to make this!
