    My issue is with Sons of Skyrim. I downloaded it for the weapons, but I am using armour from Lollygaggin' Fashions and Real Armies for my Stormcloaks. Ralof has the correct outfit on the cart then changes sometime during my beheading. He keeps my modded hairstyle, so I know it's using the same character. There is also a random Stormcloak corpse with vanilla hair wearing the wrong armour, whose body I cannot find anywhere. All the other Stormcloaks are fine and keep their correct outfits. I did find a USSEP quest called USSEPRetroactive430 which edits Ralof's outfit, but changing that did nothing. Please tell me someone here found the answer

    I have Stormcloak Battle Armor Replacer (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/6335) and Immersive Armors.  The other Stormcloaks in the other cart are wearing the Battle Armor (as they should), and Ralof is wearing his Immersive Armor (which is badass, covered in spikes and a jaw necklace).  But after Alduin attacks, Ralof is in the replacement Battle Armor from the other mod... wtf?

    The author of the Stormcloak Battle Armor Replacer suggested deleting Ralof's Battle Armor in xEdit, but when I do that, Ralof is naked, and his Immersive Armor is nowhere to be seen... wtf?

      Wouldn't it be better to make a patch?

      Very sorry for such a late reply, 

      This is very strange indeed, since I also have Immersive Armor. With me (with or without MY mod) Ralof always wears his Immersive Armor and keep it the whole time.  

      If you're still needing a solution I can take a look at both mods and create a patch, it shouldn't be too difficult!

      I have the exact same problem as SlagBurn, so the patch would truly be appreciated. The thing with headsman dying too early works as it should, though, so I still endorsed your mod. :)

    I don't know how. Opened up CKIT, made sure he was using a custom prisoner outfit instead of any Stormcloak level list
    Doesn't matter. Somehow, he just keeps changing outfits. It's annoying and ridiculous more so because i've gone way out of my way to fix it and it's still going strong

      Are you using Immersive Armors by any chance ? And if not, can you tell me which outfits (even if it's from mods) Ralof keeps using randomly ?

    I appreciated your detailed explanation. I'm trying to figure out which of my mods is causing certain NPCs to override my outfit changes I've made in xEdit. Although your mod didn't provide new insight into my problem, I appreciated the explanation nonetheless.

    I think my issue has to do with either Immersive Armors, WACCF or ACE which apply outfits through scripts (even though I don't see where in the script it's affecting certain NPCs which is driving me nuts!).

      Have you try to disable each possible mod one at a time, and use resetinventory to the specific npcs you're talking about ?

      I agree that changes made from IA WACCF or ACE are really hard to track down when you only know how to use xEdit (which applies for me as well), but I do believe their MCM menu provides settings to disable certain type of npc's distribution (at least for IA and ACE)

      It's most likely ACE overwriting your outfit changes, unless the outfit involves an IA armor set. I've encountered this a few times, here's what I do:

      Use the Filter by Value function that shows up when you select a record in xEdit, type in the name of the NPC, and select through all of ACE's Quest entries. If the NPC comes up, ACE is modifying their outfit. Clear the search box and find where the NPC is referenced in the Quest entry under VMAD -> Aliases. At the bottom of their Alias Scripts section you should see an outfit entry. Go to that outfit entry and change it however you like and now ACE will apply it.

      If the NPC doesn't come up then I don't think it's ACE, and I don't believe WACCF applies outfits through scripts. Hope this helps, I'm not great at giving instructions

    I've always been bothered that the Stormcloak solders are even wearing armor at all.  As prisoners, they should all have been striped of their armor and been forced to wear rags, just like Lokir and the player character.  To add insult to injury, mods like Immersive armors replace Ulfric's and Ralof's outfits and even remove Ulfric Stormcloak's mouth gag and hand bindings.  If you could make a mod that fixes this, I would be grateful.  Then again, most people use alternate start mods and completely skip the cart ride intro, so why bother with any of this, I guess?

      I might take a look at it and add an optional file.

      But between us : 1) I'm pretty sure Immersive armors isn't the cause of the mouth gag and hand bindings removal, I'm using it for years and played the opening scene many times with it enabled, it's not the one. It might be one of Guard Armor Replacer version, because this mod gives Ulfric a whole set of armor including an helmet, and I think the game might try to "force" Ulfrif to wear the helmet instead of the gag, resulting of him using neither of them. I say that because I remember it happening once, and it was the cause.

      2) The armor being kept can also be explained because the ambush set by Tullius happened recently, after that they put Ulfric and his men on the carriage and just after that, to quote Hadvar,"I thought we were taking Ulfric back to Cyrodiil, but I guess the General changed his mind. You know the rest." So it's safe to assume Tullius wanted to rush Ulfric's demise when he decided to join the nearest village to publicly execute him.

      Even tho lots of people use rightfully Alternate Start, I'm pretty sure we're not the only ones who actually likes the opening scene and all the story-telling it provides (even more with the mod "Opening Scene Overhaul' which adds some nice cut content I can only recommend). And finally, there is the "Skyrim Extended Cut" mod (a mod that will overhauld the main quest and adds a LOT of content, characters and story in a lore-friendly way) that will be released someday. I'd be very surprised if it doesn't reach a popularity similar to the Beyond Skyrim Bruma content, and I'm sure some people might get back to the opening scene to enjoy the entire story.

      Just to confirm what Lukto said, Immersive armors doesn't remove the gag nor the bindings on Ulfric considering i played the opening scene like hundred of times with more than 800 mods beside the IA mod.  On other hand, i find it very reasonable and logical that they wear stormcloak armors as they were caught on an ambush and were put to carts immediately.

      It does if you use Alternate start Live Another Life and take the Vanilla Start option.  I've never played the vanilla start without ASLAL installed in a long time, not since it started bugging out after installing a whole bunch of mods.  This was not the prison cart bug btw, this was something else that I forgot because it was a long time ago when I ran into this problem.  This is when I made the decision to always have ASLAL in my load order.  Anyhow, I tested this myself.  With ASLAL installed, Ulfic has no gag and both Ralof and Ulfric have no hand bindings either.  Then I started the game without it (twice because I needed to install the Prison Cart Crash Fix that for some reason USSEP doesn't fix even though it is a GD mesh that fixes it) and the gag and hand bindings are working.  I speculate the reason being that when you start the game vanilla the IA distribution script doesn't have time to remove these items from Ralof and Ulfric by the time the prison cart sequence starts.  With ASLAL, I normally wait until the scripts are all finished and all my MCM settings are tweaked and ready before I even choose my characters start.

      Oh right, that makes more sense then. Since this problem occurs with Alternate Start, I'm afraid I can't do much.

      Regarding your request for putting prisoners rags to the stormcloak, while it can be done, I'd rather warn you that I definitely don't recommend it, at least for Ralof and Ulfric since they are most probably edited by other of your mod, and since they appears again in the story. While just giving them new outfit is easy, I certainly won't (well, I literally don't have the skills to) make the appropriate edits for them to wear the rags only in the opening. Sorry!
