About this mod

Makes it easy to make NPCs marriable for modders and possible to use commands to marry some NPCs that weren't previously, for use as a required file for another mod, on it's own, or by modders.

NOTE: This mod is primarily a modders resource. It has other uses, but please read the rest of this description to learn how to use this mod, or alternatively you may want to download my mod Marry Anyone.

This mod makes it easy to make an NPC marriable for modders and possible to marry NPCs that weren't marriable before. Please note that most NPCs (based on what voice type they use) will not give dialogue lines for anything marriage/spouse related, although subtitles will be visible. There are (more or less) three ways to use the mod, detailed here:

1. As a required file

Some mods may use this as a required file, usually for their marriable NPCs (either a new NPC or making old ones marriable). If this is the case, just install the mod and enjoy.

2. As a player with console commands

Even if you have no modding experience and don't have a mod that requires this mod, you can still make use of this mod. In-game, if you press the ~ key and click almost any NPC, you can type "addfac 19809 4" and press enter. This will set them to be a marriable NPC, however you will still need a good relationship with the NPC. You can either get your relationship up with them the normal ways, such as completing a quest, or you can press ~ again and type "setrelationshiprank player 4" and press enter, and you should be able to talk to the NPC and marry them. You'll also need to have talked with Maramal and be wearing an Amulet of Mara, like normal. These steps will work without the mod, but only for certain NPCs, but this mod lets it work with any NPC. If you have this mod, any NPC that gives no marriage/spouse lines and just has subtitles when married couldn't have been married without it.

3. As a modder

If you're a modder and are having trouble getting an NPC to be marriable, or just want to make the process easier, this mod can be useful. Note that the subtitles for marriage/spouse lines are the same as with Nords. On the technical side, all this mod does is bypasses Skyrim's requirement for NPCs that are being married to have a certain voice type. This means all you need to do to make an NPC marriable is give them the potential marriable faction, and either have a way for the player to get a good relationship with the NPC (such as a quest) or simply set their default relationship player so they can be married. If you have custom marriage dialogue lines for your NPCs, they should all work fine (with nord marriage subtitles), except for the "I do" line during the marriage ceremony, which won't be said with the current version of the mod. If you want to fix this, going through the usual process of adding the voice type to be marriable should work (adding the voice type to the VoicesMarriageAll FormList and to either a custom or already existing seperate VoicesMarriage FormList, such as VoicesMarriageNords). Subtitles can be fixed by following these steps and adding marriage dialogue in the creation kit (although at this point this mod isn't doing anything).

Additional Notes:
  • Currently, if you want your spouse to live with you at a certain house I need to add it into the mod manually (or a patch needs to be made for modded houses). I've done this for all vanilla (including DLC) houses, but have not done so for Creation Club houses, and I also haven't done so for Severin Manor, as that house isn't one spouses can move into in the vanilla game. I have an idea on how to generalize the mod to work for almost any house (assuming the house maker adds the house as a place spouses can be sent), but I have not yet implemented it yet
