Thanks. I had to make a manual rule. This among many other things made me annoyed with Vortex over the years, I recently moved to MO2 and learning it. Seems like a much more robust modding tool.
Only just picked up this mod, and noticed (LOOT) through MO2 does the same thing and places this mod's ESP before Realistic Mining for VR ESP which again is incorrect for what this mod is trying to do..
I don't know if it's only this mod at fault, but there seem to be ownership issues with the spawned ore. The ore seems to be owned by the mine, and is considered stealing to pick it up, despite NPCs claiming they'd pay me for mining as honest work. Without this mod, ore deposited directly in to my inventory would be okay, and work as expected.
I know this was forever ago, but did you ever learn more about your ore ownership issue? It has been the first time I had heard of it. Which mine was this?
From the Realistic Mining for VR original page its got there :
Activating a node will attempt to equip automatically any mining tool you have in your inventory. You can then swing your pick at the node, it will take about 3 strikes to mine a single piece of ore.. so keep swinging until the ore is depleted. All the default messages still apply, such as if you don't have a suitable pickaxe. I also added a pickaxe strike sound to occur on every valid strike.
Problem I am seeing with this mod overwriting that mods scripts that I can now get infinite ore even after the message says depleted I can keep hitting and keep getting more ore.
Hello, great mod, wondering if you could update it to work in solstheim because at least in ravenrock all the wood chopping blocks do the vanilla skyrim vr behavior
I don't know if it's a bug but for me without the mod when I want to cut wood it activates a very fast animation and I get the wood in a second and I have the same for mining.I thought I could solve this problem with this mod but in fact it's almost the same, I still have this fast animation, I still collect my wood just as quickly except that now right in the middle there is also a log that I can cut into 2...
Hi, thanks for the mod, very good stuff. When chopping wood, I interact with the logs and the old behavior happens (weird, fast animation and multiple firewood gets added to my inventory), then the log is placed and is ready for me to hit it with the axe. Is there a way to turn off the old behavior activating? Am I missing something?
That sounds like a conflict with another mod... something overwriting the script for chopping. I would look for any other mod that deals with chopping blocks or modifies the looks, positions or anything else dealing with wood chopping.
I have the UVRE modlist installed so I don't even know where to start looking. But thanks anyway :) I'll take a look, otherwise I can probably live with the issue.
I just tested with VRIK, HIGGS, and PLANCK all installed and it works properly here.
I would not expect any VR user to play without the 3 above mods.
Are you testing on a fresh save? If it works fine on a fresh save with only those important mods, I would then start adding back mods in batches and keep testing until you find the culprit. I would recommend Realm of Lorkhan as a fast start mod when troubleshooting. There is a chopping station very near the starting location.
I set up Dragonborn Speaks Naturally to teleport to Riverwood and tested the wood chopping there. The only mods I didn't remove when testing was stuff like Engine Fixes VR. Strangely, even without VR Refit - Mine Chop and Drop installed, mining ore by hitting it with a pickaxe works fine. Not sure what mod is providing that functionality if it is not this mod...
UPDATE: Tested it with just VRIK, HIGGS, and PLANCK, and still getting the issue. Could it be a VRIK setting or a game setting that is causing this?
I will keep trying to duplicate it here, but so far haven't been able to. Maybe try changing the load order. Mine Chop and Drop is pretty late in my load order. HIGGS loads after Mine Chop and Drop in my list.
Got the same issue. But PHANTOMHATE's assumption was right - where is saved vanilla functions in chopping blocks, that already has loaded. Leaving and entering zones doesn't work. But when I tryied a chopping block in a new place - mod works perfectly. Starting a new game should resolve the issue.
Got the same issue. Also, due to the "old behavior" after activating chopping, I already get some pieces of wood added to my inventory before the modified mechanic kicks in. After hitting and collecting I get even more wood of course (about 10 pieces or something in total).
Mining on the other hand, works absolutely great! I couldn't imagine it better!
Just as a reminder, loading this mod in the middle of a save can cause this issue. The old script behavior will continue with nearby chopping blocks, until the game is forced to retrieve scripts again for that chopping block.
is there any console command we can use to "reset" the already activated chopping blocks? btw this is by far one of the most immersive mod for VR i've found so far, a must have for my modlist... thank you
Is there a way to delete an old wood chipper script that is already active? It is painful to be asked to abandon the hundreds of hours of travel that have been done so far and start Game anew.
So uh we don't actually need Realistic Mining for this? I just used this without RM and everything works. But the firewood chopping is still bugged out in VR. I equip the ax, unequip the ax, used a new chopping block, travelled to a different cells chopping block, everything but I will still put a log on the block, glitch out like crazy, get 12 firewood and then be able to cut the log into 2.

Is this ok?

The one in particular I was in was the one near Winterhold, the Whistling Mine.

I am using the default download 1.0.4.
BTW, i instaled Immersive tree chopping in an on going savegame and i have no conflicts or issues with this mod!
UPDATE: It appears to be caused by VRIK. Removing VRIK solves it, but who wants to play without VRIK?

New games should be fine.

Don't listen and you get the jankyness you described yourself.
