About this mod

A set of lightweight vanilla-like building swaps for Falkreath, compatible with and even encouraged for Falkreath town overhauls. Base Object Swapper version!

Building swap; not a town expansion mod.

I don't have a lot to say here, unique models and textures for only Falkreath while all other towns are untouched.
  • Makes Falkreath a little more interesting and adds diversity to your game.
  • Not just compatible with, but actually intended to be used with town overhauls.
  • Same collisions, interiors, navmeshes e.t.c. as base game. Install and uninstall whenever.
  • Custom textures are a mixture of my own work, upscaled vanilla and Amidianborn.
  • Compressed textures, points to vanilla textures to reduce file size, meshes optimised in Cathedral Assets Optimiser.
  • Light plugin.

What's actually different about Falkreath's buildings:
  • Overall style is a hybrid of original farmhouses, ESO's Nord houses and a hint of Cyrodiilic feel.
  • Some rounded logs are changed to square beams.
  • Decorative roof strut, inspired by ESO's.
  • Ground floor stone walls changed to suitable Riften texture.
  • Different wood sidings. Again reuses a Riften texture.
  • Some UV scale tweaks for detail.
  • Plank walkways are more uniform.
  • Some binding or decorative ropes are removed.
  • Unique wood post texture that fits the pine forest biome with a rich red-brown tint.
  • Unique thatch texture with wood beams barely visible under the thatch.
  • New cosy lattice windows similar to my other mod for Riverwood.
  • Lots of more subtle mesh changes.

There's three reasons you'd use this mod:
  • You're waiting on JPSteel2's Falkreath mod and want something in the meantime. Out now!
  • You're making a purist or vanilla plus modlist (no clutter-centric overhauls).
  • You already have an established modlist with a Falkreath mod but want a little more uniqueness.

I made a save where I repeatedly installed and uninstalled this mod and found no issue, so unless a more experienced modder weighs in with "don't do that" feel free to use this mod forever, swap it out for heavier mods, whatever.

Future plans, I'm probably done but here's what I could do:
  • The thatch looks a little too red in screenshots, it's still within sensible limits in-game, but I want it to be more of a woody brown.
  • Possibility for further model edits and prettier textures.
  • Consider replacing Falkreath's outlying huts.
  • I'm experimenting with a wooden plank roof remodel version. Not worth me doing when JPSteel's mod does that better.
I can't see any way the mod can break, so any further development will mainly be me occasionally toying with the above ideas.

I also have a mod for Riverwood. Choose between the interior remodel and village expansion version, or a minimal version that works just like this mod.

Permissions
I put both credits and permissions in the actual permissions drop-down. TL;DR is I see the old farmhouses showing up in a lot of mods, so feel free to use my meshes to stand out. Just know you may need to credit other modders on top depending on what you use.
