Give it a moment after this update. There was quite the code update this time so first load might take a second. I removed nearly 600 lines of code and I am gonna have another update tomorrow to fix a few spots it seems to be hanging on. It might just need a few extra seconds to load up.
Also, can try reinstalling. Its possible it didn't overwrite the script properly. Edit: Update out. Sliders and Points per level stuff fixed. Let me know if you are still having issues, it might not have liked the last version number.
Edit: That is also so weird because its still showing up in my game. It should also not make a difference if its new or saved... Nothing has been changed on the menu itself...Ill start digging.
Some advice online says to fast travel a couple times if some menus dont show. Also, can try setstage SKI_ConfigManagerInstance 1In the console to see if that fixes it.
Can confirm, been playing for quite a while now, and MCM has not shown up. Can't get it to either, even when using the MCM kicker. Would you mind reuploading the older versions? I deleted them when I updated, and now they're not available for download. None of the current versions have the MCM showing. >.>
I wonder what is causing that and I will reupload one after i see what could be causing that issue. Its still working fine for me. In fact all the little bugs are finally worked out too. :(
Unfortunately, no. Didn't work on my current save, so I decided to go hard with it. Disabled every mod except for Alternate Start - Live Another Life, the Unofficial SSE Patch, SkyUI, and your mod. Never showed up.
Im using over 40 mods now myself. I cant say what it is because its not doing it to me. Can you try loading up once without it on and then put it back on?
The CK decided to reset the MOD Name variable on the script. Oddly means it shouldn't have been working at all for me either. Really didn't want y'all to have to use the older versions. lol
Yah, all the bug fixes and 600 lines of code cut should make it all work a bit nicer too. That is why I didn't want to stick y'all on an older version. Might have the book mostly ready by tomorrow too. Thanks for letting me know.
The new additions with racial defaults and earned points are fantastic.
Would be great to have the option to disable the Are You Sure popup, though. It's a bit of a nuisance, especially after a reset where you have hundreds of points to apply.
I might change it to just confirm the point is applied instead. I noticed that myself. Its to slow down the point application just a bit so the game catches up properly, but i think just a point applied should be enough and will cut back on a bit of code.
Would it be easy to make a version which triggers upon level up, in a sort of dialogue/message box? To keep it as seamless, and integrated as possible. Keep you out of the MCM and Inventory, simply spend the points once you have leveled up in the stats menu.
I don't know if I can alter it to work in the perks screen, but I am thinking it could cause issues with other mods to do that. I am going to make a menu that can be accessed via spell/shout to get rid of the skyui and skse requirement...once I know that the bugs are worked out.
I had it triggered on level up to begin with and it caused issues with not getting all the points if more than one level was gained between level ups. It also just flat out didn't work for some people. This is caused by the fact that the SMEvent for LevelUp isn't triggered until the health, stam or magic has been applied. I had to change it to trigger when the menu is open instead. So as much as I would love to have some of it triggered on Level Up and I like the idea of applying the points on the perks screen I don't think they are options, either because of possible compatibility issues or because of bugs in the game itself.
What I might be able to do is make a trainer in a couple cities that use the skill points to train skills for better integration without causing conflicts. I will look into that.
I didn't mean in the level up screen. I didn't even know that was possible, tbh. I meant like how some other mods make it so once you level, the next time you sleep it'll show up. Or maybe when you close the menu? You know more about it than I do.
The trainer idea is pretty cool, and very unique! Would be interesting.
There are a few triggers that can probably be used, but they seem to get iffy with other mods. I am thinking book, spell and a couple NPC's. That way y'all can choose how and when you want to do it outside of the MCM. Some people don't like books and some don't like spells so I figure do both so y'all can choose how you want to do it. Personally, I am fine with the MCM. To make sure that it always works I am going to have to keep the trigger for when the menu/npc/book/spell is used. It also allows for a level1 character to get 5 points to start with.
Book is almost done, but there is going to be an update to fix some other issues i found as i played (in known issues) before the npc's and spell is added. I have to work on this in my free time and papyrus is new to me. :)
Gonna do one more quick run through everything in game later and hopefully everything should be good now. Will likely update tomorrow.
Edit: Book might not be quite ready yet, but all the bug fixes and racial options are now. I am gonna upload the fixes and racial options and work on finishing the book up tonight.
Excited for it! Thanks. This is the only alternative skill leveling mod I've seen that doesn't display "X leveled to Y" ten times, every time you level up. It's much better.
Had issues using game events to begin with and so this was the way it happened to just work for everyone. I don't like a lot of extra clutter or constant nagging myself so... Nice side effect is it doesn't require any game events to keep track of all the things so nothing is lost.
The spell will be learnable and unlearnable. The book will be able to be crafted and stored and I will find a place to stick the npc's so they aren't in the way. Really wanted to work out all the major features and scripting before adding other options and skyui is simple to use. Should all be working good enough now and I can now worry about adding other options for config and using the points.
Hope you like the update!
P.S. I did only start off having with only adding 5 points per level and that was how I was going to keep it (like 300 lines of code), but after I posted it I decided I wanted more things (now about 1800 lines)...lol
Hello! Thanks for the mod. I have some issues to make it work... I tried on an existing save and on a new game... Mod is showing fine in MCM but I get nothing in the mod menu after a lvl up (and selecting health stamina or magic) Did I miss something?
I don't think you missed something. It should be working. Some weirdness, it might need a save and reload quick after its added(Although, it should work on a new game for sure). If that doesn't work try redownloading it. There is also an update with a couple new features and the UI is cleaned up.
If none of that works or even if it does, let me know. I will see if I did something wrong.
Yep quite a few also for me... I recently reinstalled everything following https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/40407?tab=description And now I am testing a few mods. The only other one I have impacting the skills is Uncapper
I just tried the 1.1 (new install) and I still don't have anything happening after a level up (I also tried the clean save).
I will try again with a new game (could Alternate Start have an impact?) EDIT: Same with a new game and V1.1.
I play with alternate start too and it works fine for me. I use 37 mods myself. Is there anything else y'all use that does something when you level up like this one does? Did you put in your perk points (it might need perk points applied rather than the health, stam or magic)?
The only thing I can think of that might have a problem is if another mod uses the level up trigger and its conflicting some how. When I update with the skill reset later I will try something.
I will try to find which other mods I have that would tweak the level up process. and I tried to add the 1 point after the level up, but still no change. Thanks for your quick replies by the way!
No worries. I thought of a way around it. I will do an update in a couple hours here. Might not have the skill reset in it yet, but it should work no matter what.
Update 1.2 worked on my existing save without me having to do a clean save or even level up after updating. Loaded my save and had points waiting for me.
I could only test now ^^ Thanks for the quick fix and v1.2. It works now... even a little too much :-p => Everytime I open the MCM menu, I have additional points credited.
That's weird. I will check that today before I come out with new update. It should only give points if its under the total for your level (including 5 points for level 1). You are getting more than that without changing the points per level?
Edit: Just checked it myself and I will figure out what is causing that weirdness Edit 2: FIgured it out. Papyrus does not seem to like multiplication. Will be in the update today.
Thanks for the fix. It now seems to be working fine. I had to use the reset option before the points were taken into account, but it now works perfectly. Again, thanks for the mod and for the several fixes!
Glad its all good now. Sorry about the problems! Now some play time for me too and then on to the spell/shout menu. A few levels should have caught the points up too. Again, sorry about the problems. Thanks for your patience.
Experience has a level cap in its settings if you use that mod. Default for Experience is 255. Its ini file is in the skse plugins folder, but I can probably add a toggle and slider to the UI to enable it in this mod for those not using experience that want a level cap. I will mess with it. Thanks for the idea.
Edit: I wanted one like this too and ELAF doesn't work for me so...here we are. Was an issue to get the Globals to work and I am thinking that is the problem that ELAF is having.

Also, can try
In the console to see if that fixes it.setstage SKI_ConfigManagerInstance 1
I don't get why its not showing for y'all.
Edit: I took the last screenshots after the last update. That is why I don't get why its not showing up.

Thanks for the amazing mod, but its not working for me.
I use a lot of mods, but none of them modify my level up system. Can someone help me?
Just in case there was an update yesterday possibly after your comment. v1.3 had a couple issues that should be fixed in v1.35.
