Description

This mod allows for imbuing arrows with supportive effects, like Restore Health, Rally, etc. When shot these effects will be applied to friendly NPCs near the place of impact.

I've always a mod that allows for animated bowcasting, like in Oblivion. Especially a support/healing archer build intrigues me. Unfortunately, I am currently unable to make such a mod. (Update: I actually did it.)

However; I might have found a little alternative in the meantime, introducing: "Imbued Supportive Ammunition".

There have been made several enchanted arrow mods for more offensive effects like Fireball and Lightning Bolt. (Even the Creation Club's Arcane Archer Pack has arrows like that), however none, to my knowledge have been made for arrows with supportive effects.

As such, that gave me even more reasons to make one.

Upon reaching level 50 in Enchanting, you'll receive a new lesser power, called "Imbue Arrows".

When activated, this will activate a crafting menu, to craft several new variants on Elven Arrows.

  • 15x Imbued Elven Arrows of Restore Health: 15x Elven Arrows + 1x Scroll of Heal Other
  • 15x Imbued Elven Arrows of Rally: 15x Elven Arrows + 1x Scroll of Rally
  • 15x Imbued Elven Arrows of Invisibility: 15x Elven Arrows + 1x Scroll of Invisibility
  • 15x Imbued Elven Arrows of Oakflesh: 15x Elven Arrows + 1x Scroll of Oakflesh
  • 15x Imbued Elven Arrows of Stoneflesh: 15x Elven Arrows + 1x Scroll of Stoneflesh
  • 15x Imbued Elven Arrows of Ironflesh: 15x Elven Arrows + 1x Scroll of Ironflesh
  • 15x Imbued Elven Arrows of Ebonyflesh: 15x Elven Arrows + 1x Scroll of Ebonyflesh
  • 15x Imbued Elven Arrows of Flame Cloak: 15x Elven Arrows + 1x Scroll of Flame Cloak
  • 15x Imbued Elven Arrows of Frost Cloak: 15x Elven Arrows + 1x Scroll of Frost Cloak
  • 15x Imbued Elven Arrows of Lightning Cloak: 15x Elven Arrows + 1x Scroll of Lightning Cloak
  • 15x Imbued Elven Arrows of Stendarr's Aura: 15x Elven Arrows + 1x Scroll of Stendarr's Aura

These arrows will still deal damage to hostile targets, like regular Elven Arrows. However, in addition to that, upon impact, the arrows will cause an explosion. Any friendly targets that are inside the explosion radius, will have the effect applied to them.

Compatibility

No known incompatibilities.

Optionally, if you use Spell Perk Item Distributor (SPID), NPCs will also be able to use the arrows effects, which makes it very useful for archer followers, as they'll be able to support you from afar, while you attack them in melee distance.

FAQ

Q: What's the point of arrows that buff/heal targets they hit?
A: These arrows do only heal/buff FRIENDLY targets close to the area of impact. They will NOT heal/buff any HOSTILE targets.

Q: Why Elven Arrows?
A: I consider Elven Arrows to be a perfect candidate for imbued arrows, given their more innate magical properties. In addition, they are used for Sunhallowed and Bloodcursed Arrows in the Dawnguard DLC, so I'd fugured it would make the most sense.

Q: Would you consider adding these effects to other arrows?
A: Given the strength of the effects, aka dealing damage to an enemy AND buffing nearby allies, I decided not too, in order to make it not too overpowered.

Q: Do these effects stack with enchantments on the bow?
A: Yes, they do.

Q: Where can I get these scrolls that are required to imbue the arrows?
A: They are inside the leveled lists, so Court Wizards might sell them. I also made a Scroll of Stendarr's Aura, which is also added to those leveled lists.

Q: Does installing/updating/uninstalling on an existing save work?
A: As far as I know, it should. However, it's good practice to keep a backup save prior to doing this, just in case.

Q: Is this compatible with <insert mod>?
A: I don't know by heart. You might need to check yourself.

Q: Will you make a patch for <insert mod>?
A: Only if it's a mod I use myself or plan on using, I have enough time and I actually like the idea. Otherwise, feel free to do it yourself. (see permissions)

Q: I have a suggestion to improve the mod. Can you do it?
A: Maybe, if I have time and I like the idea, I'll consider it.

Q: Will you port this to <insert platform>?
A: No, I myself only support the Steam and GOG English SE and AE versions of Skyrim. If someone else wants to port it, feel free. (see permission) If you decide to port it, you yourself take full responsibility to offer support to said port. I will not provide no support for any ports by third parties.

Q: I use a ported version of this mod on <insert platform> and I have a problem. Can you help?
A: I don't provide any support for third party ports on other platforms than the Steam and GOG English SE and AE versions of Skyrim. If you have issues, you should adress the person that ported it.

Q: Does this work on Skyrim 1.6+, aka "Anniversary Edition"?
A: Yes, it should.

Q: Why don't your mods use MCMs and instead use this janky console command system to set globals?
A: I am not a fan of MCMs. You can set the globals by making a patch in xEdit. I have no plans of changing this. If you want to add an MCM, feel free. (see permissions)

Q: Why don't you use FOMODs?
A: That would require reuploading the entire mod, in question, even if I only make a small change. My internet is limited and reuploading the files each time will take a huge chunk of my monthly volume.
