Thanks for this. I really dislike the icky Draugr when playing Skyrim VR, they give me the creeps. Skeletons at least are bit less zombie-like.
But I have a question similar to the other guy- not about bandits, but what are the odds that draugr can be replaced with other un-deads, like vampires?
Not easy. It's a different race with different animations, so "model replacement" is not possible. And making a "hard replacement" of draugr NPCs may cause bugged quests and other issues.
I have to remake the mod from scratch, using the HD skeletons instead of vanilla skeletons, and converting them to draugr body structure to replace all variants. But it's a lot or work, I'm not working on this nowadays. Probably will do it but don't know when.
I wish the HD skeletons had been published a few months earlier xD
This mod is made from vanilla draugrs (replacing ingame model, and adjusting some stats). To keep breaking-bones animation, it should be done from skeletons. But done like that, there would be a high probability of bugs, breaking draugrs quests and wake up scripts.
Yeah, I didn't think it was. Before you responded I actually took a peek in the GECK and SSEEdit to see how the bone-breaking thing worked, but couldn't find it. Wasn't sure what to look for either.
I've looked for keywords, scripts, spells/perks, animations... but found nothing about the bone-breaking death effect.
I found this: Every race has a ragdoll idle (for example, there is "ChaurusRagdollInstant" and "DraugrRagdollInstant"), with form type "IDLE"... but there is not ragdoll idle for skeleton race. Furthermore, these idles are not in Skyrim.esm (!) (I only found references to that, but can't see this forms). These may be hardcoded in Skyrim.exe... I don't know :P
Any chance you would make like a 60/40% version? So it would be more mixed? I like to think that some (oldest ones) lost flesh and turned into skeletons but not all of them ya know
That is interesting, but that would have to be a different mod. The reason is that this mod does two things: Replace body meshes and make little changes in a plugin to bringe sense to replaced meshes (this is not introducing "new" npcs). Draugr types use mixed body models, so, if you keep some vanilla draugr body meshes, inevitably will see skeleton named draugrs and draugr named skeletons.
But there are other ways to use this mod:
You can install the mod and deactivate the plugin in the load order. Result: No gameplay changes, draugr are named draugr, but they look like skeletons.
You can install the mod, deactivate the plugin in the load order, and manually delete some meshes from the folder meshes\actors\draugr\character assets. Every file you delete reverts to vanilla.
Male files (from naked to heavy armored): draugrmale, draugrmale01, draugrmale02, draugrmale03, draugrmale04, draugrmale05, draugrmale06, and draugrmale07.
Female files (from naked to heavy armored): draugrfemale, lightarmorf, midarmorf, hevarmorf_1, and hevarmorf_2.
For example, you can delete all files but keep draugrmale, draugrmale01 and draugrfemale. This way most low level druagrs will look like skeletons and most mid-high level draugrs will look like draugrs.
To make only "oldest" draugrs look like skeletons, you can delete naked models and keep armored models in folder to replace mid-high level draugrs... or you can delete male or female models...
Also you can delete some hair and beard files to restore draugrs' hair and beards. You will see some draugrs with random hair or beard (skeletons with hair/beard looks very interesting).
Any time you can delete all meshes in folder to restore vanilla, and any time you can reinstall the mod to restore all files from mod ;)

Sorry for very late response. I'm currently offline from modding, temporarily. I'm catching up on notifications.
All "can be done". But that implies very different creatures (models, animations, behavior, potentially bugged quests...).
Thanks man.

(Only vanilla skeletons do that)
Is there a way to make them do so? It's not a dealbreaker if it isn't but it'd be cool.

You're welcome!
