Skyrim 2022 Time for a change
So I have been running pretty much the same load order (give or take a few) since I initially put it together back when I got a new system last year.
Since that time there have been some extremely innovative mods that have come out which I then added like Seasons of Skyrim by powerofthree.
However some mods cannot simply be added into an existing load order as easily as something that is brand new, and didn't exist before like my above example.
What I am talking about are a few mods that changed my load order and look of my game completely around.
First is Rudy102's update to my favorite ENB of all time for Obsidian weathers.
For the version I was interested in (Because he also did it for an old favorite ELFx) he built the settings and lighting around LUX, Water for ENB, and DVLSS.
Since DVLSS just got an upgrade as well to EVLaS (it's successor) Rudy made sure that would work also, and has mentioned about updating his enb again to fully utilize all the new features EVLaS by LonelyKitsuune brings to the table.
Recently GGunit also released LUX Via to go along with LUX, and LUX Orbis covering not only interior, and exterior lighting but also the roads between towns making it a complete package for lighting.
Another ground breaking mod that came out recently is Nature of the Wild Lands by fxckthisworld which remakes the forests around Riverwood and Falkreath mostly but also replaces many of the vanilla trees so literally covering a much larger area.
What's so innovative about a tree mod?
The time, and care put into not only tree placement but also new models for fallen trees, and other natural forest debris that you would find in a real forest which brings them to life. The amount of trees has also been increased but the author also put care into keeping it FPS friendly for the shear amount you get out of the deal.
So I went about saying my goodbyes to Jedi trees, Relighting Skyrim, Lanterns of Skyrim 2, and a few other favorites to try something new and different. They are all great mods by talented authors as well, and I would recommend them all but it was time for a change in my game to keep it fresh.
Mostly it was Seasons of Skyrim with Aspens Ablaze support along with Nature of the Wild Lands, all of the LUX suite, and water for ENB all in Rudy's Specially tweaked for these mods ENB.
I found an older resource for sun flare and sprite on ENB forums that I added and Bob's your uncle here we go.
Running Faster HDT-SMP and a bunch of higher resolution textures along with xLODGen producing more than 20GB for terrain plus TexGen and DynDOLOD 3 adding in another 15-20GB.
My Skyrim Special Edition folder is over 145 GB now.
The 3090 will drop into the 40 ish FPS range in some of the heavier areas and the game uses up to 16GB of Vram and just about as much system ram to run.
Still very playable frame rate for as much as I have shoe horned in there, and the visuals are mind blowing for a game that's more than 10 years old.
