Description

I always thought it was weird that if I wanted to do a good deed and adopt a poor kid from the orphanage, Skyrim made me commit murder, no ifs and no buts. I mean, yeah, Grelod deserves it, but still. Murder shouldn't be a required part of the adoption process, yeah? So I came up with a more immersive solution (more immersive than clicking on Grelod in console and typing "kill", that is). You can now confront her and insult her until she drops dead from an anger-induced heart attack! :D

Look, I said it was more immersive than killing her with console, not, like... in general. I feel the yelling is pretty cathartic though.

Extra special bonus: Lemme Kill Lemkil! A.k.a. the same thing, but for the worst father in Skyrim. So now, if you want to give poor Sissel the loving home she deserves, you can do it without committing two murders. Neat, yes?

(Nobody will blame you for Lemkil's death, but Constance and Astrid will still think you offed Grelod, because, well, I guess it does look pretty suspicious if you think about it. Also because I didn't want to mess with the Dark Brotherhood questline, oh well.)

NEW in ver. 2: The Bells'n'Whistles edition! I've added some features suggested by commenters, namely short guard interactions (suggested by furiousdave), and a speech increase after you've successfully talked Lemkil or Grelod to death (suggested by sync67). If you previously installed ver. 1, see Upgrade for important information.


How-to

Just talk to Grelod, or Lemkil, or both, in any order. For Grelod, if Innocence Lost is already started, pick one of the vanilla dialogue options first, then talk to her again to give her what for.


Install

Install with a mod manager.

If you want to install manually, unpack to Data folder as usual.


Upgrade

I recommend that you do not install ver. 2 on the same save where you previously installed ver. 1. As part of updating the plugin, I had to compact the new records. This should not have affected the already compacted original records, but, you know. Better safe than sorry. If you want to install ver. 2, it's best and safest to do it on a save game where you have not previously installed ver. 1.


Uninstall

Uninstall with a mod manager.

If you want to uninstall manually, remove the files and folders that came with this mod.


Compatibility notes

Compatible with most things, as far as I'm aware. Except for maybe mods that alter the Innocence Lost quest, and even then, the Lemkil part will still work.

Not compatible with mods that make Lemkil or Grelod protected (or essential), such as Protect Your People. See the stickied post in the comments section for a possible solution.
