Hi Czasior! I am planning to use Distinct Interiors, The Great Cities, and The Cities of the North together. If I were to do this, which patches should I use? Is this even possible? Thank you for all of your work and help! Patchers like you and Janquel never cease to amaze me!
It depends on what you mean by Great Cities. If you're talking about the AIO version, I'm unsure if they're fully patched for COTN. Gardden has his Great Cities of JK's North, but I'm not sure if the mod is still up to date. Separate cities are easier to manage in this case, but it will still depend on which of them you choose to install. I'm providing separate patches for COTN cities here and for TGC (AIO or standalone) in Distinct Great Cities Interiors. If you want to install also The Great Towns / Villages, check my profile - I'm providing Distinct Interiors patches for them as well.
I'm a bit slow. I currently have all of the City of the North mods and the Great Cities/villages/towns mods except for the Great City of Solitude. I am not using the Great Cities AIO. Should I use both the "Distinct Great Cities Interiors" and "Distinct Interiors for Cities of the North" patches at once? I figured they would probably conflict if I did so, and I didn't see a combo patch. Thank you for your help!
OK, I checked it again (sorry, I made these patches a long time ago and forgot the details). For Dawnstar, Falkreath and Morthal only the patches from this collection are needed. Moreover, if you use The Great City of Winterhold v4, you need a Distinct Interiors patch from The Great City of Winterhold Patch Collection. For all other great towns/villages, there are appropriate patches (if they were needed) on my profile.
There's no need for that. The only difference in that patch was in Winterhold, due to a different interior setup. Since v5 The Great Cities of JK's North uses The Great City of Winterhold v4 and the dedicated patch is no longer needed. For Dawnstar, Falkreath and Morthal you install the regular patches from this page and for the Winterhold you need to use Distinct Interiors patch from The Great City of Winterhold Patch Collection.
Sorry, I'm a bit slow. Should I still use each of the COTN Patch Collection with this patch? Because I didnt see any Distinct Interiors patch in the Collection.
You're referring to the over two years old post. In the meantime COTN - Distinct Interiors patches were removed from COTN Patch Collections. So, for compatibility with COTN and Distinct Interiors you need only patches from this page. If you have other mods which might affect the interiors, you need to install particular patches from COTN Patch Collections and - what's important - load them AFTER any Distinct Interiors patches.
I can't guarantee every one of them will be compatible, but mostly they should be. Except for COTN Falkreath - SFCO, all of them should be loaded after Distinct COTN ones.
The installer (in its current state) won't let you install the patches for the mods which you haven't activated in your load order. Please, check if you have both (COTN - Falkreath and COTN - Morthal) esps active and try again.
I had them installed and active but for some reason had to delete them and re-install them for them to be detected by the installer for your mod. It is fixed now.
I'm not 100% sure because shots were taken with my old mods setup (which went to hell some time ago), but probably these are from Northfire's Windhelm (yes, COTN Dawnstar uses Windhelm wood textures).
You mean JK's Skyrim or JK's palaces interiors? The first one doesn't need a patch (as far as I know), the palaces are patched by Janquel with one exception - the Blue Palace. There's still no patch which'll blend PCE version with JK's Blue Palace. I'm not sure if it's even possible, but yeah - it's already on my "to do" list.
This is great! Loving your series that make Distinct Interiors much more compatible. Just a quick question, there is the Distinct Interior FPS Fix mod ?that includes a patch to be used with the original COTN - Distinct Interiors patch from the collections, is this still required or your patch is already optimized?
If you're using only optimized meshes without barrel replacing plugins - Distinct Interiors FPS Fix and all my mods will be fully compatible. But the plugin which replaces potato/cabbage-barrels with SMIM models or COTN version (which disables some DI barrels) wouldn't be compatible with my patches - in few locations you'll end with misplaced barrels. If you don't want such compatibility problems, load FPS SMIM Fix between Distinct Interiors and my patches and don't use FPS FIX for COTN. In interiors where barrels positions were modified by my patches you'll have original DI barrels (with vegetables) and modified (SMIM) in the rest. If you want full compatibility - you must do some work in xEdit by yourself - I like those barrels filled with cabbages and potatoes and I'm not plannig to replace them by myself.
